Hello Everyone,

1. EDSMM Contest

Thank you everyone who took part in last week's challenge - we had twenty comments with experiences (or not) about using fiat to add HIVE to your savings. We have a winner @vaynard86 - hurrah! check your wallet later!

As always there was great information in the comments. There was also this post from @acidyo about buying HIVE from your location - again, lots of useful comments on the topic.

This week the challenge is about AI:

  • What's your view about AI, is it positive or negative?
  • Have you used any AI applications? Are some better than others?
  • Link any good posts you've found (or written) in the comments.

Let's hear your views for the chance to win an EDSMM!

2. 365 Day Savings Challenge

It's Week 4 on our savings plan and we've added and powered up 1.75 HIVE to @sally-saver's wallet. We're up to 4.06 HIVE already!

EDS for Comments

We had a fabulous number of comments last week - 121 not including 18 tipping comments. I think this may be the ATH so far! So good, because you are supporting each other. Yay!

We had comments from 23 savers! Everyone went into the Wheel of Names and we have winners: @ericburgoyne and @dbooster - hurrah! check your wallets! 😍

3. Information and Resources

EDS and EDSM Queries

The quickest way to get any queries about payments resolved is to post a message in the #eddie-earner channel of the SPinvest discord: https://discord.gg/RQZubGeeTH and tag @silverstackeruk. Most problems that happen are technical bugs and are quickly resolved once we know about them. Housekeeping for @eddie-earner, EDS, EDSM and EDSMM is usually done on Monday UTC.

Saturday Savers Club Discord Chat

Join us for chat about savings and investments: https://discord.gg/RQZubGeeTH

Ground Rules:

  • The SPI family motto is Get Rich Slowly. This covers EDS, EDSM and EDSMM, the home tokens for the Saturday Savers Club, as well as SPI, LBI and CL. The bottom line is that we are looking for well-researched options which bring a steady income. Good options will have an identifiable and easily accessible team (with emphasis on more than one person involved), a clear plan and use case for the token, and transparency and accountability through regular reporting.
  • Individual members are free (of course they are) to publish guides to tokens under their own account - and any number of members can do that.

Hi All - its great to see the number of comments growing on the post - it really is taking off - hats off to @Shanibeer !!!

I had quite a poor week due to being away and not posting much, so it was a measly +3 HP this week - but its still growth right !:

https://leofinance.io/@hoosie/saturday-savers-club-progress-week-4-2023-28-01-23-very-low-income-this-week

In terms of AI, I'm quite for it, but with all things, it has good and bad applications. I've not used any AI applications specifically where I have directly interfaced with AI , but know that I use some that have AI inputs and backing, eg, google maps, google search and the like. What I'd like is an AI organiser that does my administration, pays my bills for me, sorts out my paperwork, etc - wouldnt that be great !

Anyway, best of luck everybody for the coming week, and please do remember to drop a link to your savings post - I will read, comment, upvote and tip them ! Cheers @hoosie

Hey! Just posted my savings report for this week now. Great to be a part of this fun group :)

As for AI... really mixed feelings. Some applications might be useful. Who doesn't want a self driving car when they're too old for driving well for example? Or a robot to clean their house?

I used couple websites to check what pictures would AI come up with when describing my own pictures and the effects although fun were far from reality. In my opinion momma nature is still the best artist/designer I know.

The platform I previously used was also demonetised due to AI being able to write articles indistinguishable from the real ones. Is this where we want to go? I highly doubt it.

Thank you for the EDS token!!

Another great week for as folks just keep selling tokens for less than they are worth..

Got some more of my best tokens not sure why folks are selling them off but I just

keep on buying. Having to keep an eye on the token market to get the best buys are

keeping me busy. I am also doing well on my savers goals as well so all in all a great week.

Have a great week one and all

Here's my update for the week - https://leofinance.io/@alonicus/saturday-savers-2023-progress-report-week-4

Also, carrying on with my giving out SBI's for #SaturdaySavers posts (because hey, it helps me towards one of my goals 😁) this week's winner is @fantagira7 - one SBI should appear for you sometime in the next couple of hours.

On the AI question... oh boy, I have such mixed feelings ! I've used a couple of them, and like Wombo.art as a way to generate images for posts in Hive. But I recognise that they'll change the world and not always in positive ways.

On the negative side, I've seen the controversy about companies using copyright works to train art-generating AI's. I'm already seeing artists put out of work by companies switching to using AI-generated artwork instead.

There is a definite trend towards large companies using AI chatbots to deliver support; Amazon are probably the most prominent case, and their seller support AI's are pretty appalling especially as they can suspend your account without any human intervention and it's the AI's who read and judge your appeal.

I have also seen a major increase in spam emails (and especially contact form spam on my business website) because AI-generated text often gets past spam detectors. That's going to be an interesting arms race !

But on the upside, it could make it far less painful to create product data, email newsletters and marketing materials. I feel that where AI is enabled to step in and do tasks that are undesirable and repetitive donkey-work jobs they'll be a huge benefit. They'll also be good where faster-then-human reaction times are needed (e.g. trading). Where I get nervous is when AI gets given decision-making power over humans, especially if there isn't a human "circuit breaker" to apply a bit of common sense. Which means we need to somehow keep AI out of government hands !

Hey! Thank you so much for SBI 😍 I get overly excited about my L2 tokens and love watching them in my wallet. Cause I’m weird like that 😅

As for AI - I very much agree with most things you said. Except for maybe trading bots. Simple fish like me have no chance for a few good trades when competing against bots 🤖😏

I hear ya about the L2 tokens. I'll spend an hour staking, delegating and trading them in Hive Engine, and then it'll hit me that most of the values I've moved around have been pennies-worth 🙄

But SBI's are a bit special, because they sit outside L2 - you can see how many you've got in https://www.hivesbi.com/ - the idea is that they sit quietly accumulating, and then provide automated upvotes for your posts whenever the accumulation goes over the threshold. The idea is that if you accumulated enough of them and post reasonably often, it becomes a kind of income. https://ecency.com/hive-189312/@steembasicincome/hive-sbi gives you the full blurb on it 😀

I think I have one of those on my main account. I read the article about how it works and decided to come back to it when I understand more about hive 😉

Hello @shanibeer,

Congratulations on the increase in comments. I'm looking forward to seeing if the engagement levels will grow this week as well.

I think AI, like everything else, has its advantages and disadvantages. One could argue that AI provides an opportunity to automate jobs that no-one wants to do (if those jobs really exist). Of course the people who will be loosing their jobs will see it as the haves trying to reduce the labor costs and burdens associated with hiring real people.

Here is my report for this week

Great to see so much engagement on last weeks post!

Well AI is the way the world is going, we are obsessed with technology and having machines do all our work, how will get money when we all do nothing but sit on the beach, ah well I will be long, so no need to worry.

I have used a couple to generate some images for posts, my verdict is the anatomy side of things is pretty crap at the moment!

On a positive note, I am looking forward to having @shanibeer on the show on Tuesday ...

Hi, everyone!
My report for this week:
https://ecency.com/hive-119826/@stdd/experiment-2-saturday-savers-club

As for the AI, there are also a lot of mixed feelings about it, as have many who have written before me. But at some point I said to myself, "Hey, it's already there, something needs to be done about it!" And that's in the sense of something that needs to be used if it's right for you. And I do) Half of my recent posts have pictures created by Stable Diffusion. I like it so far.

As for text bots, I haven't seen a single text so far that has been written with personal stories. Or at least lively. I usually don't finish such posts, maybe that's why I haven't focused on it.

I also liked the voice processing by artificial intelligence. But I only saw it in a blogger's review. I have not tried it myself. I would love to try it, I even have an idea how)).

I think that's all there is to it.

Have a nice weekend, everyone!

Friend @eddie-earner here active in this Saturday of savings, I continue advancing in the savings list, we are already in week #4 and I am very excited, working to add up and to reach the goal.

Here is my report for this week.

https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@leidimarc/saturday-savings-club-or-week

Regarding the question about AI, the truth is that I haven't used any application or anything related to that kind of technology yet.

What I have read or heard about it, that it promises a lot and great things can be done thanks to it, yes, I see that man will become more sedentary, having everything just a click away.

So everything will not be good for the human race, making use of it.

These days I was investigating about some application that would make me, the translations from Spanish, which is my native language to English, to place it in the videos that I upload here in Hive.

A friend of mine recommended me a publication in which they showed me how to do what I needed through AI. Although I have not used it, I have saved the link to review it soon. To see it click here

I use AI often (Text and Image) and in work we are developing interfaces for it.

Text ais help with ideas, but you must not believe them they often do mistakes.
Image ais work quite well as long as you really use the correct prompts and have some experience with them.

One funny problem with ai is, the more images and texts in the internet are generated by ai and ais still use the internet for the models the more the ais results get diluted.

Here is a interesting post about ChatGPT
https://ecency.com/hive-163521/@vikisecrets/5-current-limitations-of-chatgpt-human-answer-vs-gpt-s-answer Read my answer to it (german only sorry). There chatGPT tried to convince me that penguins are mammals

I have heard a lot about AI but I still haven't used any of them yet. I am mostly positive about it but I do think it will be getting rid of a ton of jobs just like how technology did in the past.

Here is the week 3 update for my goals. It's been going well so far.

Here's My 34th Monday Weekly Hive Goals and Progress Update!

Hiya savers! I hope y'all had a gloriously abundant week of growth and savings! On to the questions for this week!

What's your view about AI, is it positive or negative?

Although I am deeply passionate about liberating and empowering technology (Free and Open Source Software and Hardware, Linux, and specifically Arch Linux), I am extremely wary of AI. I'm well aware of the potential of things going horribly awry with it, so I'm only open to it's use in very limited and restricted/contained ways. I don't support the AI/trans-humanism agenda.

Have you used any AI applications? Are some better than others?

The only AI applications that I've used were part of my exploration into various AI art generators. There's a lot of them now, and the results were somewhat interesting and often curious, but nothing particularly pulled me in to want to dive deeper. It's a curiosity to me.

I wish you all a meaningful, fun, and abundant week ahead! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

View on AI. I am positive on it.
Reason being, there is just too many things in our lives that need our attention and if there are task that can be automated, to be more efficient, should use AI to replace.

In my work industry, we use AI alot. There is machine learning, automated data extraction etc to understand process trends etc. It helps speed up alot of time that is spent for extraction etc and not on truly analyzing the data etc
