Dreaming about a Horse and the Hungarian Puszta

( EN / DE ) The Ladies of Hive Contest #116 actually awakened in me a very old dream of a vacation. In fact, I haven't thought about it for decades, but the idea of taking a multi-day trip through the Hungarian graslands countryside called "Puszta" has resurfaced in my memory. But not a conventional trip, but a trip on the back of a horse!

Of course, this form of traveling also exists in other places of the world. But for me the idea of the Hungarian Puszta was always very coherent. After all, horses and riding have an ancient tradition there and also this idea of really untouched landscape seems tempting to me.

The Puszta is a huge area, in former times mostly consisting of swamps it was settled and drained in large parts, nevertheless there is probably still a lot of beautiful untouched landscape and meanwhile also two nature reserves.

Even back in the days when there were no smartphones, I dreamed of this and I realize that the more digital the world around me becomes, the more tempting is the thought of just riding through the countryside with a horse. Sitting around a cozy campfire in the evening, maybe some Hungarian violin music? Sounds very relaxing and romantic. And real natural.

Back in reality, I realize these vacations are only for experienced riders (which is logical) and unfortunately, with my 3 riding lessons in my teenage years, I can NOT really call myself an experienced rider and horse connoisseur.

Then of course come thoughts of a sore back and other aching body parts after a day's ride ;-)
And also about hygiene and sleeping comfort in yurts or other things my mind would certainly still find many arguments to pick apart and destroy this dream!

Are such trips possible at all? Yes of course! These offers also actually exist! Some even with overnight stops in hotels where you can indulge in massage and wellness. But, let's be honest, would it still be the same? Either I make an adventure trip on the back of a horse or not.

Either way, it probably won't remain more than a dream. But in any case a brilliant dream! Riding a horse for a week or more through beautiful Hungarian countryside.

Der Traum von einem Pferd und der Ungarischen Puszta

Der Ladies of Hive Contest #116 hat in mir tatsächlich einen sehr sehr alten Traum von einem Urlaub erweckt. Tatsächlich habe ich seit Jahrzehnten nicht mehr darüber nachgedacht, aber die Vorstellung eine mehrtägige Reise durch die Ungarische Steppenlandschaft "Puszta" genannt zu machen ist wieder in meiner Erinnerung aufgetaucht. Aber keine herkömmliche Reise, sondern eine Reise auf dem Rücken eines Pferdes!

Diese Form zu Reisen gibt es natürlich auch an anderen Orten der Erde. Aber für mich war die Idee mit der Ungarischen Puszta immer sehr stimmig. Immerhin haben Pferde und das Reiten dort eine uralte Tradition und auch diese Vorstellung von wirklich unberührter Landschaft scheint mir verlockend.

Die Puszta ist ein riesiges Gebiet, früher meist aus Sümpfen bestehend wurde sie in großen Teilen besiedelt und entwässert, dennoch gibt es wohl immer noch sehr viel wunderschöne unberührte Landschaft und mittlerweile auch zwei Naturreservate.

Schon zu Zeiten als es keine Smartphones gab träumte ich davon und ich merke, je digitaler die Welt um mich herum wird, umso verlockender ist der Gedanke, einfach nur mit einem Pferd durch die Landschaft zu reiten. Abends um ein gemütliches Lagerfeuer sitzen, vielleicht ein wenig ungarische Geigenmusik? Klingt sehr entspannend und romantisch. Und urtümlich.

Zurück in der Realität stelle ich fest, diese Urlaube sind nur etwas für erfahrene Reiter (was ja logisch ist) und leider kann ich mich mit meinen 3 Reitstunden in Jugendjahren NICHT wirklich als erfahrener Reiter und Pferdekenner bezeichnen.

Dann kommen natürlich Gedanken an einen schmerzenden Rücken und andere schmerzende Körperteile nach einem Tagesritt hinzu ;-)
Und so würden sich über Hygiene und Schlafkomfort in Yurten bestimmt noch viele Argumente meines Geistes finden, diesen Traum zu zerpflücken und zunichte zu machen!

Sind solche Reisen überhaupt möglich? Ja natürlich! Diese Angebote gibt es auch tatsächlich! Manche sogar mit Übernachtungs Stops in Hotels, wo man sich Massage und Wellness hingeben kann. Aber, mal ganz ehrlich, wäre es dann noch dasselbe? Entweder ich mache eine Abenteuer Reise auf dem Rücken eines Pferdes oder nicht.

So oder so wird es wahrscheinlich nicht mehr als ein Traum bleiben. Aber auf jeden Fall ein genialer Traum! Eine Woche oder länger mit einem Pferd durch wunderschöne Ungarische Landschaft reiten.
