Tales of the Urban Explorer: Bromborough Steam Switching Room
"Down there?"
It looked like the right direction, but neither of us was sure.
While the warning sign deters 'Fly Tipping', it doesn't caution anyone about going beyond the locked gates. The gates were a joke, and the fencing to their right was completely collapsed. I don't mean holes, I mean entire sections missing. A tractor could have driven in without touching any fencing.
Often mislabelled 'Power Station', 'Bromborough Steam Switching Room' lies semi-deep inside a rural wooded area in the Wirral, Merseyside. There's a little information on Wikipedia, but the one remaining relic that still exists and is often visited by Urban Explorers is missing.
Beyond the fencing, it didn't take long before this brown, square, ugly building emerged from the forest. It was deadly quiet; nothing moved, nothing rustled.
Looking down, I noticed this warning - being monitored for what exactly? I figure those days are long gone, along with the cameras.
Several 1960's-style décor buildings were now in sight, but there was no way inside. I knew what we were looking for, that we had hit the mark, and it was simply a matter of time before we found the 'Switching Room'.
With luck, it was not in there. Being February, the trees and leaves were bare, but still, that's not going to be easy to get close to.
A large ladder runs up the side of this 'cooling tower?'. I don't know what it should be named, only that neither of us fancied the climb. We continued the search…
This one looked like our target, but we could hear noises up those steps, humans! Why did it have to be bloody humans!
Initially, the steps looked intact until one reached the landing platform, revealing a 15-foot drop. Some jumping manipulation was required. If the rails collapsed, it would be broken legs for sure.
Inside stood a teenage boy accompanied by three girls, maybe 16 or 17 years old, all with a meaningful desire in their eyes. They were startled by our arrival and looked to be on the edge of raping the lad.
Terrified and embarrassed, they quickly exited the 'Switching Room' without a muttering even a word. What the fuck was that about?
'Lucky bastard'.. I was thinking, watching 'boy gigolo' scrambling down the iron stairs with his lusting travelling harem in pursuit. Did we save him, or wreck his dream come true?
I spotted the empty Smirnoff bottle immediately. Get the poor lad pissed and then rip his clothes off. It was all crystal clear to me.. what had happened.
I wish I had taken a few more snaps of the inner 'Bromborough Steam Switching Room'. Looking back at what I captured, I confess I am a little disappointed.
The room is very photogenic, but somehow difficult to photograph well. This does occasionally happen; what your eyes see, you somehow can't quite capture it properly.
Graffiti everywhere would be a true statement. There was barely any space for anything new, but the control switches were still in place, albeit battered over time.
Lots of dials, but they were not very well defined. 100-300, that's about all you can see.
If those holes once contained many switches, then that's a lot of them.
Lots of colour, and bad artwork.
.. with so little space that it's been re-used.
Pure rust. An interesting jaunt, if short-lived. It's something you need to experience as an explorer.
By the time we had finished and were straddling across the missing landing platform to descend, the teenagers were nowhere to be seen. That lad must be cursing us.

They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new

If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years

If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new
But what they are doing is bad Very badi joined steemit like everyone else thinking it offers freedom but I must say steemit offered much more freedom than Hive does

Hello everyone I hope you are all good and well today in this post is some of the evidence to prove my case
If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new
But what they are doing is bad Very badi joined steemit like everyone else thinking it offers freedom but I must say steemit offered much more freedom than Hive does
Everyone already knows I only post my own original content I have no need to steal anything from anyone
