AER crowd character: Galen

@galenkp was totally going to be a bounty hunter or special forces sniper or something to that effect. I even did the sketchy for it. It wasn't happy though, and it was late at night so I deleted everything and stormed off to bed.

This Galen is a prepper who lives a simple peaceful life on the edge of town and is one of those guys you want to take on your long range hunting trips because he has a keen eye. Also probably has an armoured campervan a family could survive a zombie apocalypse in.

The lighting for this one is a bit weird because he was meant to be stargazing but this method of shading is not conducive to night lighting (can be done but it's supposed to be a QUICK method of shading and doing that much deep shadow is the opposite of quick) so I changed it in a hurry to late evening cloud gazing.

Cloth dynamics is forever my sworn enemy.

Haha, gold! You captured the likeness perfectly...Except I think my biceps are bigger. (Actually, probably not) 🤪

I’ve assumed that exact pose many times just gazing up at the sky connecting with life. Nice choice although the laying in a snipers hide would also have been legit 😁

Those biceps! They were originally bigger and then I zoomed out and as like hmm too much steroided bodybuilder going on there [reduce] dammit he not that small [biggenate] 😱 eventually decided right they’re like that coz relaxed and those guns will pop right out when tensed or handling the...uh...actual guns 😆

One of my boys came up with it when they were tiny before learning "enlarge" XD I want to say it was the youngest as he invents words and turns of phrases to this day if he doesn't know or can't think of existing ones but there is a chance it could have been the eldest. Anyway it was so hilariously ridiculous it's remained in the family vocabulary.

He looks really chill, and yet ... ready for anything? Kind of a presence of someone reliable! :D I like the shading and the lighting, tbh, it looks like he is laying on a forest in an afternoon, where there's some shades from tree's foliage so it's a bit dark but also still during the day, so it's also still sunny...

Scrapping and starting over is a lot more infrequent for me these days, maybe to make up for how often I was doing it a few years ago XD (but more likely because I don't draw much)

Wait! You do humans too? Or is this guy actually an animal. Glad you didn't make it stargazing, because - unless he was glow in the dark ( not advisable for hunters ), we wouldn't be able to see much of your art

I have done a stargazing piece (link goes to my blog because my blog indexes content unlike some block chains that shall remain nameless 🤣)before but with the render rather than the sketch shading. It was pretty hard but the characters are identifiable if you’re familiar with my characters.
