Have you ever heard such jokes?

In the Philippines, ID pictures are used to scare rats away; at least that was a joke I heard from my friends way back when phones were not yet so popular.
Way back in 90's and early 2000s, lovers give pictures to each other as a remembrance and it is what they keep looking at when they miss each other but when I asked my sister what she would do to the pictures she kept, she said she will use it to scare rats away.

I remained a joke to me until this faithful day changed my belief.

Before my Civil service exam, I misplaced my purse. I took it out of my bag when I and my husband went to the farm. I needed my purse because my IDs and the passport-sized ID picture were inside it and I needed it on the day of my exam.

It took me two days before I found it at the back of the broken refrigerators we had. and this is how my crochet purse looked like.

My purse was damaged by a rat!

I showed it to my husband and he looked inside and he laughed because his ID was on top and told me that his face startled the rat and stopped eating it.

Our house's walls is only 80% concrete and some parts of are falling apart due to time and wood eaters. Also, I found out that rats could climb walls to access those places that they wanted to go.

I don't know what made the rat curious about my purse when I don't put too much in there.

My purse was not anywhere near food so it will be impossible to smell like food yet the rat chose to munch it anyway.

Because my purse was broken, I was forced to make another one at work. It was just a quick course but a little too tight to fit all the things I wanted in. I might as well make another in none of the following days.
