Visitando Playa Guacuco/ Visiting "Guacuco Beach" 🌴🌊

Playa Guacuco se encuentra ubicada en el Municipio Arismendi de nuestra isla, y es una de las preferidas tanto por locales como turistas, aunque debo confesar que no es de mis favoritas, por lo que prácticamente no suelo frecuentarla, y aunque no puedo negar que es bellísima, yo soy un poquito quisquillosa, además en mi municipio y muy cerquita de casa, tengo playas que realmente nos gustan mucho, es por eso que nunca les había hablado de este tesoro en nuestra isla, pero aprovechando que recibí una invitación de parte de mis amigas mamitas del ajedrez, les comparto un poquito de lo que fue mi experiencia en Playa Guacuco.

Guacuco Beach is located in the Arismendi district of our island, and it’s a favourite with both locals and tourists alike, although I must confess it’s not one of my favourites, so I hardly ever go there. And whilst I can’t deny that it’s absolutely beautiful, I’m a bit fussy. What’s more, in my own municipality and very close to home, there are beaches that we really do love, which is why I’d never mentioned this gem on our island to you before. However, as I received an invitation from my mum friends from the chess club, I’d like to share a little of what my experience at Guacuco Beach was like.

Como les comenté arriba esta es una de las playas más populares de la isla, y actualmente es de las favoritas de muchos, y hoy que la visité puedo entender por qué, y es que no solo es realmente bella, sino que cuenta con una gran cantidad de servicios como toldos, restaurantes, clubes de playa, puestos de empanadas, ventas de artesanía, salvavidas y muchísima seguridad, ya que puedes ver funcionarios policiales recorrer constantemente la playa, lo que es bastante genial.

Además esta playa cuenta con una extensión de 3 kilómetros, así que es bastante grande, perfecta para disfrutar tanto del mar como de relajantes caminatas por la orilla, y se podría decir que cuenta con dos ambientes que se adaptan a tus necesidades, ya que tienes la zona donde se encuentran los toldos y restaurantes, pero también hay un espacio donde puedes llevar tus propias sillas y sombrillas o simplemente resguardarte debajo de sus árboles enormes e incluso colgar hamacas y disfrutar del sonido del mar y la brisa playera.

As I mentioned earlier, this is one of the island’s most popular beaches, and it’s currently a favourite with many people, and having visited it today, I can see why. Not only is it truly beautiful, but it also offers a wide range of facilities such as sunshades, restaurants, beach clubs, empanada stalls, craft stalls, lifeguards and plenty of security, as you can see police officers constantly patrolling the beach, which is quite brilliant.

What’s more, this beach stretches for 3 kilometres, so it’s quite large, perfect for enjoying both the sea and relaxing walks along the shore. You could say it offers two distinct areas to suit your needs: there’s the zone with the sunshades and restaurants, but there’s also a space where you can bring your own chairs and parasols, or simply seek shelter under the huge trees—you can even hang up hammocks and enjoy the sound of the sea and the beach breeze.

Les cuento que apenas llegué me sorprendió la cantidad de carros que se encontraban a lo largo de la vía, pero por suerte hay funcionarios que te ayudan a ubicar un lugar para estacionar e incluso hay vigilancia, lo que es bastante genial, ya puedes disfrutar con total tranquilidad de tu día de playa.

Otra cosa que me tomó por sorpresa es la gran cantidad de clubes de playa que han abierto sus puertas, ofreciendo servicios VIP a los visitantes que pueden acceder a ellos, y es que incluso algunos te ofrecen básicamente una sala de estar con comedor incluido, a la orilla del mar.

I have to say that as soon as I arrived, I was surprised by the number of cars lining the road, but luckily there are staff on hand to help you find a parking space, and there’s even security, which is brilliant – so you can enjoy your day at the beach with complete peace of mind.

Another thing that took me by surprise is the large number of beach clubs that have opened their doors, offering VIP services to visitors who can access them; in fact, some even offer you what is essentially a lounge with a dining area included, right by the sea.

Por supuesto aproveché de hacer un recorrido, ya que tenía muchísimos años sin ir a esta playa (siete aproximadamente), y estaba tipo turista reconociendo nuevamente el lugar, que sin dudas no se parece en nada a lo que vi en mi última visita, y aunque la verdad todo se ve muy lindo, más de la mitad de la playa pareciera estar privatizada, ya que los clubes de playa se han adueñado de todo el terreno que se encuentra frente a ellos y sus toldos y bungalows no dejan espacio para más nada, por lo que si no vas a pagar uno de sus toldos te toca caminar y caminar hasta encontrar un lugar disponible, cosa que me parece una locura, ya que la playa es pública, pero así están las cosas.

Yo particularmente prefiero visitar playas más tranquilas, sin tanto movimiento y personas por todos lados, pero sé que la gran mayoría prefiere ir a playas como estas donde cuentan con todo tipo de comodidades y servicios, así que si formas parte de este grupo, está playa sin dudas es para tí.

Of course, I took the opportunity to have a look around, as it had been ages since I’d been to this beach (about seven years), and I was exploring the place again like a tourist. It certainly looks nothing like it did on my last visit, and although it all looks lovely, more than half the beach seems to have been privatised, as the beach clubs have taken over all the land in front of them and their parasols and bungalows leave no room for anything else. So, if you’re not going to pay for one of their parasols, you have to walk and walk until you find a free spot, which I think is crazy, as the beach is public, but that’s just how things are.

Personally, I prefer to visit quieter beaches, without so much hustle and bustle and people everywhere, but I know that the vast majority prefer to go to beaches like these where they have all sorts of amenities and services, so if you’re part of this group, this beach is definitely for you.
