~ ๐Ÿ˜˜ Hello Pinmapple Community around the world ๐Ÿ˜˜ ~

Welcome back to my post, @queen-silvia. In today's post, I am gonna invite you to visit the oldest temple in Kediri city, Indonesia. Well, the temple was built in 1817 by the immigrants from China. So the building is 206 years old. Can you imagine it?, It's already more than 2 centuries ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Based on the story traced by the elders, Long time ago (in ancient times) there was a Civil War in China so some people wandered through the waterways (from China to Indonesia) and once they arrived at the Brantas river, they decided to stop by and build this temple. This is the brief history how the temple was built.

Alright so let's have a tour and see some unique structure of the temple. Two pictures below are the entrance gate of the temple. There's Chinese language which I am not sure the meaning of it ๐Ÿ˜‚.

At the left side of the wall, we can see a painting which is describing the emperors and empresses of China in the past. That's a 3D painting.

Here is the inner space of the temple in general. We can see some typical Chinese Building : Red rooftop, Dragon statue on the roof, and Dragon sculpture in each pillar of the building. As a local people, this building is very unique in my opinion. I have never seen this kind of building directly so I think it's a good idea to take some photographs and put them in a blog. It's unfortunate that I am not allowed to go inside the temple, The officer just allowed me to take the picture from the outside.

Here is the detail picture of Lion Sculpture. well, If you ever heard about Lion Dance, it's inspired from this animal.

In each of the building, especially on the ceiling of the roof, we will see the Chinese red lantern which can only found in Chinese building only.

These are parts of the building which is used by people to do special ceremony regularly.

When I was at the temple, there was a puppet show which is telling the story about the imperial China in the past. We can see, even the pillar of the puppet show has the sculpture of dragon. This means how sacred the dragon in Chinese culture. Based on the passage that I have read about Chinese culture, Dragon is an animal who brings fortune to human life, that's the reason why we can see so many dragon in Chinese building.

10.jpg

These are people behind the puppet show. I think they work in the temple in certain shift. We can see there are many kind of puppets hanged by a rope.

9.jpg

And this is how the overall show looks like, again we can see dragon in many aspect of the show, like decorative cloth and ornament.

12.jpg

Now let's go the statue area. There are so many stone carvings which are showing the Chinese culture. It's really beautiful in my opinion :

Alright, Now let's take a look into the the main statue. This goddess name is Tian Shang Sheng Mu. Also known as Ma Zu or Mak Co. She is known as the Goddess of the Sea, helper of sailors, and protector of ethnic Chinese in the South and immigrants in Southeast Asia.

Untitled design (7).png

The statue is built on the stage overlooking the brantas river.

This is the Brantas River. I went to the temple at 4 PM so we can also enjoy the sunset in the temple. Nice view of sunset, isn't?

I had to giggle when I read that it's 200 years old. How perception is different for different parts of the world.. where I live people live in houses that are older than 200 years ๐Ÿ™‚ some of them might be even 400 years old. Many churches date back to the 11th century and there are castles that are even older ๐Ÿ™‚

But it's a beautiful place. I love those stone carvings with intricate detail.

Great photos! Thank you for sharing and have a lovely day!
