Father's protective instincts.

Men are naturally protective and whether as a boyfriend, father or husband, they create boundaries that other men shouldn't cross. Seeing someone cross that boundary makes them very alert, they become very suspicious and even see whoever crosses the boundary as a threat, especially to their female children.

The relationship between daddy and daughter is very strong, I don't know if the letter "d" at the beginning of both words is responsible for the bond. It's the same with son and mother, they always have this bond that causes them to be overprotective sometimes. I remembered the very first time my boyfriend's mom saw me, she didn't take her eyes off me for once. She wore a weird face throughout and at a point, she even called her son inside to have a close-door meeting and I understand the feeling because he will experience the same when he visits my family. My dad will always wear that look because he will be full of doubt and a lot will be playing in his mind.

I am not a man but it's easy to think from a man's perspective because I have a wonderful father who shares a lot of things with me. Every father's fear is seeing his daughter taken advantage of, it breaks their heart a lot. I have seen fathers who don't bother about their sons having girlfriends but not their daughters having a boyfriend, they won't take it lightly.

The very first time my dad saw me with a guy, he waited patiently to know the relationship between us before acting. He called the guy sometime later and warned him not to be a distraction for me because he had great plans for me, he did it politely and the guy just withdrew from me slowly until we stopped communicating.

My dad always said that it wasn't time for such and from experience, boys of my age have nothing to offer me. All they would do was take away my dignity and probably mislead me.

He doesn't sugarcoat things and he always shares many mistakes he made as a teenager. He said these mistakes happened because of parents' carelessness and he wouldn't want such to happen to his daughter.

Among the things Dad shared with me was that puberty pushes teenagers around, it makes them feel like adults already and it inspires them to make some adult decisions which most times doesn't end well for them so it's understandable why many fathers don't want to see their daughters having boyfriends.

It's like seeing someone trying to do everything you did to other people daughter to your daughter, no father would want such especially when such father was a player when he was younger. Seeing your daughter having a boyfriend will bring back memories and you wouldn't want your daughter to suffer in the hands of boys who see themselves as men.

Above all, let's remember that women are fragile and there is nothing bad in our father protecting us. I learned that some father find it hard to let their daughters go and it's funny because they are not meant to be around each other forever.

The time will come when a female child will have to have a man to start another life with and when the father is sure that his daughter is in safe hands, he shouldn't hold tight any longer.

They're just trying to protect their daughter from the world. And is a good idea.

Puberty can indeed cause teenagers to make hasty decisions. Fathers, aware of this, frequently try to protect their daughters from potential pitfalls by being cautious in their relationships.
