An online purchase I regretted.

Until I started buying things with my hard-earned money, I didn't see a lot of things I purchased as an issue but all that changed immediately after I started earning from my cake business and before then, I was a reckless spender because I didn't have to work to make money. I have aunts and uncles who didn't have much responsibility then and since I am the first granddaughter/child of the family, it was easy for me to do begi begi from them and they don't hesitate or bother to ask how I spent it.

I have a bit of control over myself now because it's not easy to make money but the habit isn't completely conquered. Being a fashionista, I always had anything that was in vogue; it could be sneakers, sandals or dresses, I always had my means of buying them; I wouldn't hesitate to break my piggy bank if that item I wanted to was really on my mind.

My buying habit got me many friends and I always turned up looking hot in my skinny body to every party I found myself at. Being a partygoer, I have met quite a lot of people who are into different sales of products and I usually feel it's safer to purchase from them since it is a way of supporting their business.

So it happened that I saw a gown that was advertised by one of the vendors on my contacts and the gown wasn't bad. It had multiple colors and it would be perfect for one of my aunt's birthday coming up that year.

I reached out to the lady and she was happy about it. The price was on the high side and I even threatened her that I could get the gown for a cheaper price at my end but I really just wanted to support her.

She was compelled by my words and even beat the price down for me and thank God I said all this because I would have felt more pain if I just paid the price she called. We agreed on something and I sent the money immediately.

Firstly, she delayed the delivery and I had to start stalking her online just to make sure she delivered my product. After the due date passed, I eventually received my gown and was excited but it ended so shortly because the colour wasn't the exact thing I saw on her Whatsapp status.

Pexel

I rushed to check the dress picture again and the design was the same but it was inferior. I immediately reached out to her and she said I got exactly what I ordered.

I tried to make her see the difference but it was futile and we almost got into a heated argument. Someone finally told me that some of these vendors sell inferior products and just enhance them with pictures so we took pictures and added effects, we got exactly what she advertised and I was appointed.
Wearing the gown was not an option so I had to give it out and that was how I wasted 13,000 Naira. I learned my lesson and just focused on physical purchasing of clothes or probably patronising the trusted vendors I have met.

An online purchase I regretted.

Yeah, that mail-order bride was probably a mistake.

The product was nothing like the one in the picture and it came with a mother-in-law and two kids in the old country.

Just kidding ..

!LOL
