Apocalyptic Homesteading (Day 1091)
Hello Everyone!
Lots of chilly rain, A gray sky day, Time to procrastinate procrastinating & Taking things slow!
The sun set not that long ago and I have yet to begin writing until now because I have more or less been staring into space... wondering if I even have anything to write about. Per usual if I sit here long enough... staring at the blinking cursor... something will come to mind... eventually!
Late last night it started raining more than the 'drizzle' that I mentioned it doing in yesterday's entry and although it has not been 'pouring' rain... it has been raining rather steadily ever since. There was a few times that it was quite the 'downpour' but for the most part it has been consistently raining to one degree or another and doing so without any thunder or lightning which is nice.
Having thought that I was in store for a few days of nice weather I have no idea how I missed such a big storm on the horizon... but obviously I did. Perhaps I need to start watching the weather a bit closer than I already I am... because that sure was a rapid shift in what was being forecast... or at least what I thought was the forecast.
As far as the weather goes it is not just that it is raining (which is great given how dry everything was) but that it is frigging chilly on top of all the wet and damp conditions. I dunno how to spell it out properly but the difference between it being sunny and eighty degrees Fahrenheit one day... then perpetual gray skies and quite chilly temperatures the next day is a bit jarring to say the least.
Needless to say... I did not get anything done outdoors today and although I had plenty of time to work on stuff indoors... all that I managed to do was a small bit of organizing and some minor cleaning. Although I have yet to empty everything out of the cabin... and give it a good cleaning before winter arrives... I have not forgotten about that goal either.
Many of those kinds of projects are frigging tricky because I need to have a day where my 'will to procrastinate' is low... and the weather is fair enough that I can stack everything outdoors without worrying about rain... and have it be late enough in the year that the flies or mosquitoes do not invade the cabin during the process. In short living in a single room dwelling sure makes the prospect of 'deep cleaning' it rather complicated... but I absolutely need to do it 'sooner rather than later' as the saying goes.
Honestly, I should also get out of the bad habit of 'putting things off' like I have been doing of late because it always seems to bite me in the arse somehow. Kind of like how I kept only working on harvesting those grapevines for a few hours each day... instead of going at it 'full tilt' (for maybe a day and a half) and then being completely done with it afterwards.
I guess that 'doing something' is better than 'doing nothing' and since I did manage to get a good amount of grapevines harvested last week... I should not complain too much... regardless of if I could have hypothetically done more. Not to get too hung up on all that jazz... but simply not allotting more time to the task and using the nicer weather while it lasted... I mismanaged it and 'missed my mark' as far as my goals go.
Which in the not-so-grand scheme of things is no big deal because I am assuredly not some 'robotic organic machine' which is always striving for perfection... or to be 'the best' at anything... or even worse... everything. I much prefer to 'take life as it comes at me' and sort things out from there... instead of attempting to force my 'success' upon each moment... as if that really matters... or that any measurements of success can be accurate enough to be dependable 'across the board' so to speak.
Anyways, what I am getting at there is that I have some rather lax standards for what I expect out of myself each day... and while sure if I am 'under pressure' I can be anything but lax... I prefer some kind of happy medium where I do enough each day to 'feel good about doing something' but not doing so much that I am constantly too exhausted, fatigued or haggard to 'take things slow' and enjoy life.
Well, on that note I think that I am going to call this entry good enough and get on with my evening. I hope that everyone is doing well and has a nice time.

I dislike hurrying, so I am careful not to get into that position. Too stressful! The best way to effect that is to not commit to a whole lot in one day. A few hours of any one thing is a lot! I'm more on the one hour end of the time spectrum.

Last night one area in Kissimmee got 6 inches of rain. I know what you mean about it being warm and sunny one day and cold and rainy the next, in the past, we have had 70 degrees and the next day it is in the 40s.
Sometimes I get in the mood to never do today if I can put it off until tomorrow. I think it is an old age thing, I did not used to be this way.
