Hello Everyone,

1. EDSMM Contest

Thank you everyone who took part in last week's challenge - lots of interesting thoughts and experiences about AI. As always check out last week's comments. We had fifteen comments we have a winner @mein-senf-dazu - hurrah! check your wallet!

This week the challenge is inspired by an interesting post I read last week:

I've heard and read many times that you have to be ready for money. How, why? Isn't it enough to just want it? Apparently not, based on my path. Everyone wants money, I wanted it too. Was I ready for it? Going back in time, definitely not.

Ten years ago, if $1,000,000 had come my way, I think it would have been gone. At least most of it would have been eaten up by inflation. The rest would have blown away on dubious projects and purchases that I don't really need. The funny thing is, in each case, all of my actions would have been done under the influence of fear. In the first case it was fear of losing money, and in the second it was of spending it wrong. All of this already speaks to an unpreparedness for money. Poor man's thoughts in action.

My question is: Are you ready for the money? - tell us your thoughts in the comments below for the chance to win an EDSMM. And check out the full post by @stdd for more about this interesting topic.

2. 365 Day Savings Challenge

It's Week 5 on our savings plan and we've added and powered up 2.24 HIVE to @sally-saver's wallet. We're up to 6.30 HIVE already!

EDS for Comments

We had comments from 19 savers! Everyone went into the Wheel of Names and we have winners: @tengolotodo.leo and @fantagira - hurrah! check your wallets! 😍

PS Did you hear Talk Time with Tengo this week? It was all about the Saturday Savers Club!

3. Information and Resources

EDS and EDSM Queries

The quickest way to get any queries about payments resolved is to post a message in the #eddie-earner channel of the SPinvest discord: https://discord.gg/RQZubGeeTH and tag @silverstackeruk. Most problems that happen are technical bugs and are quickly resolved once we know about them. Housekeeping for @eddie-earner, EDS, EDSM and EDSMM is usually done on Monday UTC.

Saturday Savers Club Discord Chat

Join us for chat about savings and investments: https://discord.gg/RQZubGeeTH

Ground Rules:

  • The SPI family motto is Get Rich Slowly. This covers EDS, EDSM and EDSMM, the home tokens for the Saturday Savers Club, as well as SPI, LBI and CL. The bottom line is that we are looking for well-researched options which bring a steady income. Good options will have an identifiable and easily accessible team (with emphasis on more than one person involved), a clear plan and use case for the token, and transparency and accountability through regular reporting.
  • Individual members are free (of course they are) to publish guides to tokens under their own account - and any number of members can do that.

I would say categorically, yes I am ready for $1m and would know how to deploy that straight away.. The first thing I would do would be to buy HBD and some EDSMM! I hope there would be enough for me to buy!

Now that's a good answer to purchase HBD and mini miners. Lift up Hive. Nice.

Thanks for sharing.

Judging by your infusions into Hive, you already have a million, huh? Or there's not much left, buddy.)
Seeing the work you're doing here, there's confidence that you're on the right track. All the time!

A million in HBD would be nice @20% = 200K a year or 16,666 per month. I could manage nicely with that, but I'll have to check with my wife to see if thats enough for her !

Did I read somewhere that you're in your 18th no-buy year? 😁

16,666 per month

It's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it 😂

Many people are doing it already!

I guess there would be plenty of HBD, but in both cases, I think you would send the price sky-high! 😁

Would you not spread your risk a little?

This year I set up a small savings challenge, this is my goal.
I think that if they gave me that amount of money I would have invested in properties. I think that in the long term having a piece of land is profitable.

Hello @youyowi 😍

Would you like me to add your goals to the Savers chart? Just drop your primary (and secondary goal, if your wish) in a comment below.

Property can be good, especially in the long-term 😁

Hello, yes, I would like to add my goals to the table, the main thing is to save 432 hbd, I don't have a secondary goal, maybe if I meet that goal ahead of time I can think of something :3

Because I actually didn't realise that you are supposed to link the posts here as well and therefore all my posts for January didn't participate properly, I am now smarter and ready for a lot more money and also more EDSMM.

The truth is that I have asked myself this question, I am always in need of money, but if I had such a large amount I would surely spend a large part of it on goods for the welfare of my family.

But I would surely invest the other part, to continue generating more.

Here is my publication, with the advances of week #5.

Hello all Savers. Hope you had a good week of saving and investing. It's been chilly here all last week with storms. We even had a tornado wreck havoc. It's terrifying during the summer and fall. But during a rare winter tornado is an added dread.

I leave here my savings progress report for February:

https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@justclickindiva/february-monthly-progress-report-or-weeks-2-4-of-saturday-savers-club

Congratulations to @mein-senz-dazu for winning the EDS mini miner for your AI comments.

Also, congrats to @tengolotodo.leo and @fantagira for winning EDS in the Wheel of Names.

AM I READY FOR MONEY?
The answer is a definite "YES". Not only am I ready for the time I come into possession of the amount of funds I wish, I've already got a 5-year plan. I've had this plan for many years. I adjust as the needs and circumstances change.

For example, my plan depends on the type of funds received, whether liquid or coins.

But here's my plan:

  • Onboard those who need to know. My children are already onboard with my plan. Due to my current age, coming into possession of a large sum of money is not advantageous for me. I'd need to consult first with my accountant and attorney to determine how best to acquire the money with reduction in my tax burden always at the forefront.

  • Divide and conquer. My plan is to divide any money received into sizeable portions for family on my list.

  • Save. Always save first an agreed-upon percentage based on total amount received. Different type saving vehicles (short and long term) to ensure I have enough liquid on hand whenever needed within 1 - 3 days.

  • Invest. I'm no stranger to investments, both short and long term. Fear of losing money: not me. With investments in mind spread around to reduce my risk, I'll be in a position to sit back and see my funds grow even bigger. Definitely will invest a certain percentage in crypto platforms.

  • Give to the needy. This includes child hunger/poverty, women/teen advocacy agencies, and environmental safety groups. This also includes the projects: Kids In Need of DESKS (KIND), Heifer International, and Microfinance loans to women.

  • Power up my Hive account. I want to reach a position to help members who may truly be in need. Haven't figured out yet how to accomplish this. Any suggestions appreciated.

Finally, I'll purchase a vacation home and retire there. It may be hard to find a location where hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, winter storms, mudslides, or deadly fires may visit. I may just hold onto that portion of the money and give to someone else who don't mind dealing with these natural disasters.

Take care everyone and have a good rest of your weekend.

Welcome @justclickindiva, good to see you 😍
A winter tornado sounds terrifying, I hope you are okay. Also hope that your husband is progressing well and you are getting some respite.

Excellent plans, already in place. You reminded me of the one 50%/30%/20% ratio we discussed in a previous Saturday Savers Club post. Perhaps t's time to re-visit that.

You've given me some ideas for future challenges. I heard a good savings tip today which I think you will enjoy when I share it with Saturday Savers Club.

Keep safe in these perilous times. ❤️

Hello. Thanks for your well wishes. Husband is progressing nicely. Stitches now removed, he can drive, but still restricted from heavy lifting. He's anxious and tends to rush things a bit though.

Yes, I've had a plan ready and practicing for years. Just waiting on that extra big "something" to drop. I can then step it up a notch!

The 50/30/20 rule is definitely at work in my equation. At this stage in my life, I've eliminated most debt younger adults face, so I can concentrate on other things, such as grandchildren.

Thanks for your visit and support always.

BTW. Left a msg in Discord. Still haven't seen evidence of miners, so I'll just purchase them from H-Engine in the future.

Take care.

Usually, I don't, but this time I really want to get my Larynx stake up to 90-100k, on the @carloaxie account I'm running a node for the SPK network and in order for the node to produce something I need to have locked in governance more than 80k Larynx(currently sitting at 51k).

A brilliant read that of Alex's post about money :) Reminded me of Rev. Ike whose money talks I've listened to a couple of times before. The fear of losing and spending it wrong definitely keep people away from money. money away from people.

Am I ready for money?
Still working on other discipline but I'd like to believe we are ready. They say building wealth needs proper mindset and that includes planning and acting on decisions not only for the short-term but also thinking about the long run.

Meanwhile, my progress for the week was a bit slower especially on my primary goal of raising my Leo Power (LP) but that is because I paused staking LEO to accumulate more liquid for the LPUD on the 15th.

  • LP growth: 17 LP (1.95%)
  • HP growth: 43 HP (6%)

Interesting question this week. Are you ready for money. I one word yes first you need a good lawyer and a good plan before you spend a dime of the money, then you must decide what you want for the long term paying off your bills is a good star. After that invest so you have a good rate of return so you have money for the long term.

Another week and just keep buying layer 2 tokens that folks are selling for cheap.

Cannot wait for the warmer weather so I can star my patio garden and get some fresh produce

in. That's about it for me for the week hope all had a great week and hope you have a great week ahead.

The weather is teasing us, the days are getting longer so quickly now, but still periods of very cold weather. I notice some of my plants are growing regardless and the bulbs are well ahead. Be great to get produce underway!

Thank you so much for the EDS and thank you so much for being on the show, that was a ton of fun!

I am ready for the money and would get some Hive HBD EDS SPI HBD and EDSMM and LEO to round it all off.

Savings wise I had a good week and my LP is going ahead of the plan, HP still getting up there too as I did hit 3500 HP this week!

It was a very good post - sometimes people are unaware of the thoughts they have that stop them getting where they want to be.

I also thought, when I read it and when I was selecting a few paragraphs for this post, that it was a good start to a mystery story. I might even try and write something (haha, I'm not sure when that will be 😂).

I would be ready for that money. It would be invested and I would not really bother with spending it on useless stuff. If it was like 10 years ago, then I would have spent it on a bunch of stuff that wouldn't benefit me long term.

Hi All,

I had an interesting week: +35 HP, to a total of 3901 HP and closing in on 4K. I also had a lot of trades go through with the HBD pump at the start of the week and now the current HIVE pump, so that has helped. My full post for the week is here:

https://leofinance.io/@hoosie/saturday-savers-club-progress-week-5-2023-04-02-23-interesting-hbd-and-hive-pumps

I enjoyed Talk Time with @tengolotodo.leo and @shanibeer this week - that was a lot of fun - maybe a regular slot could be an option ?????

And am I ready for the money ? I'd like to say yes, and like @stdd my answer would be that if it had come to me earlier in life the answer would be no (I would have spent it unwisely - and regularly did with what I had in years gone by). I think these days I would make better decisions, or atleast I would like to think that I would - with those being, invest wisely, and spend on things that matter in life, and not on immaterial things that dont matter (ie, I dont need a flashy car). But lets see what happens when the windfall comes !!!!

Anyway, best of luck to everyone for the coming week, and I'm looking forward to reading your posts, so please share your links ! Cheers @hoosie

Closing in on 4K

That sounds good! 😍

Very good, too, if you can ride the pumps, and lots of fun. I'm more of a set and forget person. I like it when I come back later (especially when it's much later) and everything has grown on its own.

I'm learning to get ready for the money, or rather, how to behave like a rich person 😍. It only occurred to me a year or two ago that becoming a millionaire is a possibility.

The show was great, wasn't it? Love @tengolotodo.leo's style!

Greetings @eddie-earner @shanibeer
The hive is up this week. My boys were sick as well. On the up now though. Hopefully they'll be back at school this coming week.

Nice strong votes on this week's post. Ripple effect from the talk show I guess. Keep it going.

Here is my report for the weekend
https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@bearmol/status-report-2023-week-5or-1559-hive-power-or-life-happens

Oh, I love this week's question. I think I am ready to receive all the money I can get my hands on. The reason is that I don't need to spend it, hehe.

Since I find my happiness in the little everyday things I feel more fortunate financially. And it's not because I earn more, but because I buy less.

If 1M dollars came to me I might change my mobile phone and buy a new car for my husband. The rest would go to various forms of investment, with Hive and HBD being my priorities.

The reason is that I don't need to spend it

😂 Isn't that the truth!

I've found that I buy less as I've got older - over time, I have bought most things I need and as long as there is a rainy day fund for when they need replacing, you don't need to keep buying them.

Exactly! Must be an age thing, then. 😩😂

Thank you so much for EDS prize, I love seeing my stash growing. I will post my update on my alt account later today 💙

As for readiness for money. I’d like to think that I’m ready, but since there isn’t much of it on my account, it’s clear that I’m not!

I look at my broken gutters and fallen fence and I think that if I was ready for it, then surely it would be on my account by now to fix all these things at least.

That tells me that my mindset about money is still broken, like my gutter. It’s a daily work in progress to get it fixed 💙

I think that if I had a million dollars 10 years ago, I wouldn't have spent it all. My life in financial terms would be easier today for sure, however, I probably would not have made all the investments I should mainly for fear of losing the money, it's also true.

The value of money is relative to everyone. If I got a million dollars today, I would probably keep doing what I'm doing, yes. I learned a long time ago that filling ourselves with material things is not what I want but with good experiences. So I could live on that million for the rest of my life and make some trips around the world, and go to the places I always dreamed to visit.

And back to business and my savings goals while I wait for that lucky break of a million. 😉😄
This is the follow-up of my goals for this week

Happy week and happy savings!

This is something similar to what I have in mind, sis. Would not be collecting material things using the money, instead, I'd use it to create memories 😉

And you're doing great on your progress :)

I think that's the way to go, sis. Material things can be lost, but experiences always remain in our memory. 😊♡

Travel is a great option, @coquicoin, especially in comfort (I am no longer any good at camping, although I loved it when I was younger) 😁.

Oh wow.
Am I ready for the money??
Uhhh. Yes. Like @stdd if I'd been given a certain amount of money years ago, I'd be dead broke now. I think the hard times now are what send our gears running, putting our thinking caps on and working out miracles in a time of scarcity. So am I ready for the money? Yes.
I mean, I still get scared when I think about handling a big amount or maybe profits from my business and work, but that has to be the key to my creativity.

The moment we pause, stop in the midst of all the excitement to really place our priorities right, then we'd be okay.

And here's my report for the week.

1m is a damn large amount, but knowing your options is critical to ensure it will last and grow over time. I'd definitely spread it out among different asset classes to have a comfortable risk profile. Think I'd for sure keep a good bit on hive and in HBD+HE tokens. Probably buy a deck for champ league in splinterlands and buy some newer game tokens.

But I'd also play the safe game a bit and do a large extra payment on the mortgage and invest in indexes. Plus some upgrades on the house for sustainability and lower energy bills :-)

That's true 😍

I was thinking about the 50/30/20 breakdown:
50% - long term investments
30% - short to medium term investments/ spend, like the house improvements
20% - for creative fun 😁

Congrats to all of this weeks winners.

Here's the link to my week #5 savings; https://leofinance.io/@successchar/saturday-savers-club-with-sally-saver-or-week-5-or-growing-even-in-tough-times

Are you ready for the money?

Yes, without a doubt. While my plan isn't well laid out like @justclickindiva, I do know what I would do with it. The thing is that if I came into a cool mil, I'd be set for life.
Firstly, by living in the US, one third of my cool mil is already spoken for. That thing called 'taxes'. But even after that I'm still up about $660,000, I believe that's enough to set things up so I have no worries.

Investment, Investment, Investment!!

Invest in the future through savings & investments, (about 25K goes straight to Hive),
Invest in myself by way of doing things to make life easier, like paying off my house, buying a brand new car (less auto problems) and thing of that nature.
Invest in my family by giving a little to each of my children & setting up high interest yielding accounts for all my grandbabies & great grandbabies.

Of course there'll be a period of just buying without thinking, just because I can. With that kind of money, you should always think about "What can I do to turn this into more'?

300 EDS

So let's say the 10k HP and 300 EDS since they are the ones on this account, I guess.

I've gone through the comments from last weekends post and we've had around 20 links to savings posts that have been shared - thats pretty cool ! I do try my best to get through them all (and I think I have this week) - its great to see everyone making great progress. I wonder what we are achieving between us each week. If we could calculate it, I bet we'd be gob smacked !
Keep on stacking !!! And I'm looking forward to seeing your posts this coming week !

For me, I am ready and will be putting into 3 portions.

Savings:
Continue saving, we don't know if we need additional money for certain things like sickness etc that can come our way.

Invest:
Go for long term investment to further strengthen so that it can be passed down to the next generation.

Donate:
While I get a windfall, there are others whom are in need especially those disaster/war struck nations who really need a helping hand to rebuild their homeland.
