November rain

We Chinese always like to poke fun when someone tries to host an event, if it rains it brings the meaning of the host being "cheap". Well, since my dad passed away, it seems like the whole few days are gloomy and raining all the time.

To us, the funeral expenses are already paid. It certainly doesn't work that way. Not that we don't want others to come, but the rain really makes it difficult for them to pay their last respect. One thing turned up well, the cooking weather makes the event less sweaty.

After the cremation ceremony, we treat all attendees for a quick lunch, to make sure everybody brings home a full stomach and our blessing goes with all of them.

There's a series of photographs of which we picked up the balance and ashes from my dad's remains after the cremation, but it's not really a comfortable scene, so I didn't add it here. Who wants to see crushed bones.

I have bought some garden hose and clips to have it installed in my parents house. It's a duplex, and my mom isn't fit to climb any more, so the washroom will only be used by the children's and grand children's. Fitting a hose for the ease of washing the floor in the future.

Other maintenance works involving the washing machine hose cracking, I had them changed so it doesn't spill soap water everywhere. It's actually kinda dangerous for my siblings as most of us are getting near and over 50s. With that 1 slip, chances of losing a sibling can be very soon.

I was going to clean the fan as well, but mom asked to change one instead. She mentioned that things have been acting up quite recently, pointing out the speed regulator isn't functioning correctly. I guess she's right. The fan regulator was there for years. Try 1982.

Mom seems to open up a little before we leave, and she seems able to eat a lot more than usual. I guess the one thing she worries so much every hour in the night she will get up and check my dad's pulse is no longer a thing. If anything turns up good after my dad's passing, this is it.

I am so sorry to read this brother. I haven't experienced the loss of a parent, so I can only imagine what you are going through. I'm kind of speechless, but my thoughts/heart/prayers are with you. Let me know if there is anything I/we ASEAN Hivers can do 🙏🙏🙏
