Xianwei Seafood 鲜味海鲜煮炒

After the sunset mass at the church of immaculate conception, we proceed to one of the local seafood restaurant as the home minister feels really rice sick. We've been eating noodles the whole day, it's about time to go for some good old rice dish.

I am telling you, when looking for seafood restaurants, first checkout the cars parked surrounding that restaurants. Like this one, at the dodgy corner end of the street, with a few local cars parked around, the moment we crashed into it, there was only 2 tables occupied. One table occupied by a young couple with office attire, probably just got back from work. Another round table, appears to be 3 generations with young children, all in casual wear. No theme, no extra decorative wardrobes. Simple and clean, just like your own dinning room in your house, perfect local settings.

What do we order? No seafood. What?! No seafood?! Not exactly. Usually Chinese dish will blend in with few shrimps. We avoided ordering fish, prawn, shellfish kinda dish because those will cost a bomb, at the same time exposed our touristness 🤣 We go with the good old sweet sour chicken. To me, this dish is cooked even better than the ones in Kuala Lumpur.

Another dish we can't miss, is this onion omelette dish. All of us are big fan of fried eggs. Therefore, having a simple omelette dish serve as an emergency boost of morale to the all of us. One of the trick to upgrade the taste to next level being, save some of those sauce from the sweet sour dish, paste them on the omelette and it will instantly become a rice quenching dish.

This was supposed to be the next dish, black beer caramel pork ribs. Black beer being used to boil down, and reduced until it's caramelized with the ribs. It does take some time to complete the dish since it takes time to simmer the black beer, in the process it also soften the flesh. The moment I send a piece to my mouth, the meat almost did not melt in my mouth together with the caramelized malt taste from the black beer, mind blowing. Sorry, don't have picture, it's too damn inviting. You get a picture of nutmeg juice I ordered. It has some healing property in nutmeg, and it's very refreshing since it blends well with lemongrass. You don't get this kinda drink anywhere in Malaysia except Penang. It's cordial, not fresh, so don't expect it to be cancer treatment program. Why don't I buy a bottle of the syrup? Trust me I did it before, and after one week of nutmeg juice detox program, I have trouble dealing with the balance of the syrup 🤣

We weren't expect more than a norm tofu dish, but we had to since this is a seafood restaurant. There's an unsung rule of adding seafood into claypot tofu, and we knew that from the beginning. And man they did not disappoint us. The broth is heavily infused with squid, shrimp taste. Absolutely marvelous way to make the boring tofu standout! Suddenly I have this idea in mind, use a big piece of seaweed to sushi wrap a tofu, bread it and fry it first so it maintain it shape. Then boil it with baby corn and more seaweed flakes, ginger slices... perfect Vege soup. Hmmm... does @justinparke consume seaweed?

Like all south east Asian countries, rice being our most important staple food, sit down dinner like this become really important, the more the merrier. Reason being, we can order more dishes and share, so we can taste different things in a single meal. We finishes everything and to my surprise junior "approved" it(since they didn't complain), and I'm getting ready to find out whether did I dug a hole and need to pay with my kidney for a meal.

Boy they didn't disappoint me. Convert this to USD, it's less than 15 for 4 persons. I also found out this is yet another pandemic born restaurant, back in September of 2020 when we released from travel ban. Many of these restaurants didn't survive after further lockdown being imposed.


Xianweiseafood 鲜味海鲜煮炒

It's not a mistake, it literally spell this way in Google maps, one word. If you're wondering what xian wei mean, it literally meant fresh taste. The 6 little squarish Chinese characters represent fresh seafood, freshly cook and fry.

Those foods are looks like delicious. Eating noodles is one of my favorite also. I don't eat rice when there is a noodles and Even I eat noodles for a whole day, I game with it. ☺️☺️
