My 2021 Christmas

I was going to pick one of the craziest food photo during my Christmas celebration, but somehow decided to just go with the flow. The day started with an early morning GRAB down to the town. As home minister drove there an hour earlier for choir practice, me and the kids took an e-hailing to town.

We're all pre-registered to attend the Chirstmas morning mass, and due to crowd control, the Church is not so stuffy like it used to be(compare to before C19 pandemic).

image.png

Partial of the church has been blocked, patron are not allowed to get near. Especially the sculptures, pictures, wall art. We all seen enough people kissing the art and show how much they love their God. Don't look at me like that, I'm not saying it's right or wrong thing to do. Do what you have to do. To me, that picture on the wall is only a piece of art. I do respect God, but I won't kiss the art.

image.png

After church, we went out and walk towards the car park. Parking spaces within the church compound has been sealed off for the ease of crowd control. Good thing is, it allow more space for social distancing. Looking at people taking photos infront of the church, with their mask on.

image.png

I did thought of making a selfie with the church behind me, but decided nah! I don't need my face blocking the beautiful view of this building. The building itself is a piece of art, not to mention the bell sound is amazing.

image.png

We then drove back home with the car I bought with my #steem. Not sure if anything related to #steem is cursed, I probably spent just as much as buying the car to repair it and finally it now drive good.

We're having hard time to decide where to go for brunch, and home minister said the magic word - Delifrance. Not my first choice, but I have only been to this chain store restaurant 2 times in my life. Once when I was back in my home town, I was very young. Couldn't afford it, me and my ex-girlfriend shared a blended drink but that's all. The second time, that was 12 years ago, a department lunch at the cafe. I only manage to eat a croissant and the cheapest coffee on the menu(an espresso), and I had to order a glass of hot water keep on diluting the coffee so I can drink a little longer.

image.png

It's so different than my previous experience as the last time they have basket everywhere holding food in it. Now, all glass display with standard cake range. It's super modern now. I feel like my mind has been caged in the past and having hard time to adjust myself from the early 2000s.

image.png

Home minister paid for the breakfast. I was fiddling with my phone. For the first time I found out my phone can do this kind of cinematic capture. I was like... WAW!!!

image.png

More crazy photo session with Mocha drink for the girl

image.png

WAW! I'm referring to the magical focus of that iced chocolate drink for the boy

image.png

Holy! The cup almost jump out form the photograph! It's amazing nowadays technology so advance. With one key press, and the picture become like this. It's like a magic cup of Latte.

image.png

Within seconds, decided to come back to normal point to shoot. Seriously, I just couldn't get myself used to that kind of photo quality. I still prefer to get as much detail from the ENTIRE picture than purposely blur the surrounding in order to make the focused object looks outstanding. This is the most expensive big breakfast in my life so far. I had more expensive buffet breakfast in hotels, but paying RM47 (more than $10) in a regular restaurant, is a little too pricy in my opinion.

image.png

Both kids ordered a butter croissant, and there's no butter anywhere to be found. When we ask the waiter if there's supposed to have butter, the answer is 10 bux a portion of butter. Welp... I can live with the pricy big breakfast. But asking 10 bux for a cube of butter is outrageous. This is probably the first time in 10 years I've visited Delifrance, and probably be the last time in my life.

image.png

Can't remember what this called. Ordered by home minister. She let me took a bite of this thing, pretty darn nice. I didn't ask for the price tag, or probably will have a different feeling when I found out. After the meal, we went to the in law's house and spend the rest of the day there exchanging gifts and family get together.

Dinner at the in law's place. Mom cooked us chicken chop and pork chop. Some air fried chips. Comes to think of these potatoes sticks, why does it call Fish and Chips? And burger and fries? Aren't they the same thing? Let's put them in to a full sentence.

Put the fries into the air fryer to fry the fries.

Put the chips into the air fryer to fry the chips.

image.png

Oh and one more, why do we call French fries French fries? LOL

There you have it. This mark one of my most meaningful, most western, most Europe Christmas in my life. In remembering my best friend Mary lost her father couple of weeks back, and her mother just 2 days before Christmas day. Whilst we're in the church celebrating, she's burying her mother's body. And, between this I lost my very close cousin brother as well. It really makes me think, how many more Christmas do we have? Let us cherish each moment and live life to the fullest.

Thanks @ghua . I guess , to never lose faith is the kind of "endurance" we all trained for. I'm sure next year will be better.

We d0n't have Grabbike here, Grab car has been monopoly for couple of years after they found a way to kick UBER out of the country. Fortunately, now there's competitor going on. I'm looking forward to use my AirAsia ride soon, hopefully cheaper than Grab.

No matter what you always eat well, and I think that's an important aspect in overall quality of life. I need to try this setting on my phone again, because I once used the blurred background thing, and I couldn't tell a difference. I thin my phone's screen is too small to notice, so I should have a look on the PC instead.

A Happy New Year to you in case this is your last post of the year.

I think we Malaysian is good food presenter. I think not only me, if you notice probably more than half of Malaysian's, when they put up food post, it's always magazine grade, don't we? And you're right on the first part of our life, but the second part will be the suffering of what we ate. I think I've easily gained another couple of pounds during the Christmas celebration. Thank you for the wish, and I'm actually brainstorming for a post JUST before new year.
