20k STEEM P0wer. Mission accomplished!!! (Yes I did buy a little more).
On the 1st of January 2019 I was sitting on 6580 SP. I sat down with a sheet of paper and decided that I wanted to reach 10k SP by the 1st of January 2020. I broke down the numbers and set monthly targets, committed to writing better and more frequent content. Pushing my @splinterlands account and trying to earn more STEEM from the different avenues that are available to all of us.
You might think that this was just down to me being greedy and wanting to earn a lot of STEEM for the money but honestly it's more the game that is STEEM which I enjoyed. I wanted to grow for the sake of growing.
Become an orca, whale, super whale or whatever the top level of the game is. While I've been very busy of late I love having STEEM as an outlet for me to game, write, read and everything else we have in the eco-system. I deal with people every day in the real world, so having a place to vent and get away from that is amazing.
I see people complain about the system every day, complain about the rewards every day and on another bloodbath period, the price every minute. As I've always maintained, if you don't like it here you have two options.
Leave. We'll miss you but there is no point in showing up every day and being unhappy. That's what work is for.
Treat it as an investment. There are plenty ways to earn using your stake where you don't need to interact with the users or apps on STEEM. You can earn about 14% just through leasing out your SP.
More users means a better price for STEEM and a good result for every single user with STEEM power. As a holder it should be in your mindset to do whatever you can to help the system rather than hurting it for you own short term gain. The early adopters here should be playing the game as a team and sometimes that means taking a short term hit so that we can all win in the long run. Either we all succeed or we all lose.
The price of STEEM itself doesn't bother me right now. I value the product not the price. The product is solid and so I will keep using the product as long as it is useful and fun to me. If the price keeps dropping I will probably just buy more.
Long story short I managed to massively jump my yearly target and hit 10k SP in August. Wohoo.

So the next obvious step was to shoot for 20k SP. This one i definitely thought was impossible but with the low prices and lower number of users it became possible to add more STEEM to my account. Some bought but most earned through activity and gaming. I picked up the last little bit a week ago with STEEM at 12c. I just couldn't resist at these prices. I was aiming for the end of the year but what the hell, when the price is good you take the deal.
I think anybody that has been here for a while realizes that your growth is built on activity and powering up your account. The more active you are while growing, the better long term rewards you will see from it. Being a good steemian counts for something and as you gain followers, you tend to gain support for the things that you have done in the past as well. This isn't a simple vote or a post site, there is a whole host of factors behind earnings based on everything else that goes with your account. Reputations are important in all walks of life and it's no different on here. It can be very hard to change people's perceptions once they have made them.
What STEEM really needs is a million users divided into communities as a huge problem is that the pool is so small that a few people can cause a lot of friction and when they throw their stakes around the place it gets nasty. If we do reach millions of users sitting on 100sp each the chain will be a lot more balanced. Then it will be far more about proof of brain than it is now where proof of friends is a lot more important.
Whales will hardly be sighted around the place as they would be earning enough from their initial investment that they won't be bothered getting involved with the daily posting stuff going on at the moment. It will all be within tribes, communities, smt's, apps and spread across the whole eco-system. I do hope to see the day where a dolphin vote will be the same as getting a rare whale visit is now. That brilliant feeling as somebody drops a $20 upvote to your content.
Now this might all be in my head but I will be sticking around to see if it someday besomes the reality. Here's to STEEM 2025 and hopefully reaching Orca by then. Or sooner if we hit 5c STEEM. Then it won't take very long at all. I suppose all that's left now is to push for 30k over the next year but that post can wait until the 1st of January.

Thanks man. I think all of the people who have been here a couple of years understand the potential that the whole system has. The only real question is if it can be made user friendly and get people into steem.
As far as blockchain goes I don't think there is anything out there to rival it. The past year has seen great development so I'm looking forward to the next couple and trying to grow even more. We have some great people working on it so I'm hopeful enough.
