Follow Friday: Interesting Times

The News

Obviously a major world power invading a European nation is going to be big news and affect the markets. I think we need to care about the people of Ukraine who are currently suffering. I have seen some reports from @zirochka in Kyiv. I visited that city a couple of times and it is sad to hear about the destruction going on.

The markets have not been looking great lately, but we have to keep confidence in Hive. I expect some people will see it as a buying opportunity, but I will not give financial advice.

Prices

I have been feeling ill this week, but I am not convinced it is COVID. It may just be a bad cold. That is stopping me running for a while, but I will still check in on Hive. Unfortunately the @exhaust project is shutting down. The developer @mstafford is unable to keep it going. That is always a risk with small projects. We can still post our activities and should make use of the various sporting communities.

Another of my musicians friends has joined Hive, but has not posted yet. It can take people a while to find their way. I hope my guide is useful to some of them. I will update it if people raise new questions.

Friday Follows

  • I mentioned @dickturpin we going to pose some questions for the community and those have appeared this week. Please share your thoughts with him. I know he wonders what motivates people.
  • @demotruk has been posting a lot about the Ukraine invasion. Hive seems a perfect place to discuss that.
  • @adambarratt is a Brit who likes living in Spain. Check out his travels.
  • @recording-box are supporting local musicians in Guatemala. Some of them are on Hive.
  • Tune into @acousticguitar for some great music.

The Doghouse

I would put Putin in the doghouse, but I do not think he has a Hive account. He and his friends are making too much money to care about us.

The End

These are difficult times, but I hope that good people will persevere and triumph. We need to call out those who would wreck what is good in the world.

Stay strong and Hive five!

Cheers for the mention Steve! Good job with the Hive guide - wasn't aware of that so I've saved it for reference. I'll look to do my own Follow Friday post at some point, perhaps next week (and hopefully make it a regular thing as I plan to be quite active again). Get well soon and get back on those running trails! I've been a bit slack on that score lately but have no excuse…

Cheers. I'm feeling a little better today, but all bunged up. I want to get back out there.

I haven't done anything with my BLURT account. I think I have some kind of airdrop, since I hadn't yet traded all my STEEM to HIVE when they forked. Is there much interaction there? It's strange to see such a horizontal line when everything else is acting all volatile.

The BLURT price is so low it barely registers. Peaked at 7c a year ago, but generally under 4c. Some people are milking it, but I can't be bothered. I sold what I got there and am all out of St--m. Hive is much more interesting.

I have thought about using it for more mundane tweet-style comments, shitposting, and other less in-depth stuff it doesn't feel right to do here. I don't want to feel like I'm milking auto-votes on this platform by just posting and ghosting.

I've never been to Ukraine and have always wanted to go. I have a few vintage cameras that were made in Kiev, especially one my dad gave me named "Kiev 4" after the city it was created in. His friend went to university in the old Soviet Union and bought it for him. It's all so sad what's happening.

I'm seeing a few devs drop out of projects lately. It's understandable with the financial (and other) issues people are having these days.

I'm still hoping for a good 2022. Fingers crossed.

We will have to see what happens there. The Ukrainians will not give in easily.

Have to hope for the best.

I'm not a prayer, but maybe it helps. We should do what we can.

Hope you are well.

That is too bad about exhaust. I jumped back into Actifit the other day for the first time in a while, but it doesn't look like too much has changed over there. I hope you get feeling better soon. Some of the videos that people are posting out of Ukraine are definitely sad.

I hadn't seen that, but it had to exist. I just wrote a quick script for my plots.

Yep crazy times. Hopefully everyone in the Ukraine is okay. I'm interested in hearing the perspective of what's happening from people who live there.

Sorry to hear your sick again but sounds like you're not letting it hold you back.

Thoughts go out to the Ukraine this week 🇺🇦

The code based I am working with at the moment came from a team in Belarus who’ve some Ukrainian developers. We were taking some of the code in-house anyway but to keep working with the offshore team for a while longer. I think many of them will head for safety first and foremost. I hope they do.

I may buy some Hive shortly and set part of it aside and use some to power up. Then hopefully in the years to come it’ll pick up again.

There's lots of developers over there. We had a big team working for us back then.

Hope your investments pay off.

Cheers. I think it's just a cold or maybe flu. Ironic that I had booked time off work anyway as I had holiday to use up.

I bought some, and wish I bought more, on that initial drop yesterday. I made out well and am keeping the shares I bought for the long.

Man do I feel for those in Ukraine. I have a few people I talk with that are located in Kyiv. They are just waiting in place and in their basements. What a nightmare for these people.. Again!

Have a good weekend and enjoy your run if you take one.

These really are strange times. Boring can be good. I doubt I'll be running as I have 'man flu' :( Need to get over that before I do anything.

I hope that you feel better soon. The situation in the Ukraine is awful. We can only hope it improves.

One thing that is positive about Hive is that it really personalizes global/political struggles. It is one thing to hear of something in the news. I think Hive brings us closer together worldwide.

We read the thoughts, feelings, and concerns of our friends in other countries, and realize what we should have known all along: actually, we are not a world made up of many different peoples -- that is politics -- rather, we are one human family.

Family does not always get along or agree, but it should stand together. ❤

Hope you feel better soon! Covid is a bugger... pretty much all of us here in our house have had it once, some twice. Hopefully you're just having a nasty cold.

International unrest always seems to give the markets a haircut. Putin definitely belongs in the doghouse... for a really long time. That guy is mental! Or, if not mental, at least he belongs back in the 1950's...

=^..^=

Cheers. So far it doesn't seem to be COVID according to the tests, but still not fun.
