Saturday Savers Club with @susie-saver | Week 38 - Saturday 17 September 2022 | EDSMM Giveaway | Win EDS for Comments - everyone welcome

happy saturday.png

Hello Everyone,

I'm by the seaside and its raining! Never mind, lots of small children are arriving after school and I've had to move off the kitchen table and make room for dinosaurs and train tracks. They made it before the rain, so everyone is dry and cosy and the dog thinks it is Christmas!

PS The last 3,500 EDSMMs are up for sale.

ListNerds

Here's the first post on the @susie-saver account about using a free subscription to ListNerds to grow the audience for your blog. This week, the post looks at the ins and outs of subscribing.

If you're thinking about subscribing or have subscribed, you can ask questions or talk about your experiences in the comments on the post.

There is a CTP giveaway for comments. CTP is one of the tokens used in ListNerds and having a few more will enable you to vote on more emails.

EDS Mini Miner (EDSMM)

There are about 3,500 EDSMMs left now. Savers are looking at a current income of 31% APY from EDS - how about that? (Remember that income will change over time: @eddie-earner has given some simulations about that so you can plan your future income against your budget).

There are 480 chances to win in the lottery every 24 hours with just 1 HIVE.

Saturday Savers Club is going to be giving away EDSMMs from now until the end of the year. These are sponsored by @shanibeer. Each For your chance to win, take part in each of the contests as they come up in the Saturday Savers Post.

EDSMM Contests

Last week, the challenge was to post your ideas for any special savings initiatives you would like the Saturday Savers Club to do between now and the winter holidays to give a little lift to your savings activities.

We had one participant: @alonicus who suggested that Saturday Savers upvoted each other's savings posts (I would add to make sure you upvote the Saturday Savers Club post, too)! Hurrah, check your wallet!

THIS WEEK'S CONTEST

We're starting to make plans for next year's Saturday Savers Club. One of the things we are thinking about is a subscription scheme, where each saver signs up to save a certain amount (minimum 1 HIVE) each week for a set number of weeks and then there is a big pay-out at the end. We would use the recurring payments facility in PeakD to automate payments each week, and record the amounts saved by each saver in the weekly post. There may be bonuses for people who save every week without missing - we haven't done all the sums yet 🙂 (We may need to have a minimum number of savers for bonuses to happen).

Let me have your thoughts about:

  1. Would you like a regular commitment to saving using automated payments?
  2. How many weeks from 1 January 2023 would you like it to run (40 or 50 weeks)?
  3. What would the pros and cons be?

The small print: What do you think about a savings quiz for the end of the year? Prizes, of course 😉

Saturday Savers Club Discord Chat

Join us for chat about savings and investments: https://discord.gg/RQZubGeeTH

Ground Rules:

  • The SPI family motto is Get Rich Slowly. This covers EDS and EDSM, the home tokens for the Saturday Savers Club, as well as SPI, LBI and CL. The bottom line is that we are looking for well-researched options which bring a steady income. Good options will have an identifiable and easily accessible team (with emphasis on more than one person involved), a clear plan and use case for the token, and transparency and accountability through regular reporting.
  • Individual members are free (of course they are) to publish guides to tokens under their own account - and any number of members can do that.

LARYNX and RAGNAROK - Have You Claimed Your Airdrops?

The LARYNX airdrop continues for the next three months - remember to claim each month. Check how to do it in this post. Are you holding or selling your LARYNX? Tell us your plans in the comments below. You can do this automatically using Hivesigner.

EDS and EDSM Queries

The quickest way to get any queries about payments resolved is to post a message in the #eddie-earner channel of the SPinvest discord: https://discord.gg/RQZubGeeTH and tag @silverstackeruk. Most problems that happen are technical bugs and are quickly resolved once we know about them. Housekeeping for @eddie-earner, EDS, EDSM and EDSMM is usually done on Monday UTC.

365 Day Savings Challenge

It's Week 38 on our savings plan and we've added and powered up 17.99 HIVE to @susie-savers wallet - we're up to 339.30 HIVE already plus curation rewards! 🤑

EDS for Comments

We had comments from fifteen savers! Everyone went into the Wheel of Names and we have two winners: @yeckingo1 and @youyowi - hurrah! check your wallets.

Savings Goals

We've added some more savings goals and savings posts to the table. Leave a comment below with a link if you've done a savings post or settled on your savings goals for this year - it can take a while to decide your aims, so take your time and let us know when you're ready 😍

PS check that I have your goals correctly in the table or if I've missed you

Remember for success - Start Small, Start Today

It can be any day, and it can be any day when you've had a break and want to start again.

Re: automated savings: My vote is no, I don't like automated things. Life is variable. Also I like to be flexible and make choices as I go. I have never automated votes, either.

I naturally don't have any kind of inner schedule and I have never worked well with them. They are just stress to me. So if that's next year's plan I won't be joining. I understand they work great for other people but I don't even sleep on a schedule, they are just counter to how I function. It is a surefire way for me to fail.

Savers would still be able to save in whatever way works for them.

The subscription idea would be an addition for savers that were interested in that. It would provide some additional structure for anyone who felt that would help them.

Hello @phoenixwren. How have you been doing? I've been a bit off on my savings engagement as I focus on other areas in my Hive journey. As far as the automated savings is concerned, I'm mixed right now. Having already committed to 2 automated investments, I have to watch my liquid closely especially for investments that arise quickly to take advantage of them.

Take care.

Had a really good week on the savings front including landing a 5k delegation from LPUD (woo hoo !). My post for the week is here:
https://leofinance.io/@hoosie/saturday-savers-club-progress-week-26-17-09-22-awesome-week-lpud-inc-delegation-ppud-and-spike-in-hbd-helping-to-boost-my-edsmms

I'm mixed on the automated savings idea - Advantages; if I joined I would make sure I committed to it, so it would then be another savings mechanism, and the mention of prizes/giveaways is always an incentive :), plus I like the community aspect of it all - thats positive. Disadvantages; I tend to make a call on my investment choices weekly depending on prevailing conditions, and I'm careful about what I invest in and dont actually use that much to invest, and so this would constrain some of that for me. I'd also have to be sue of the mechanism used, as I'm not at all familiar with what you have mentioned.
In terms of the automated part, I'm quite mixed on it - I like the idea that I dont need to worry about it happening, but I also dont like the idea that it will happen without my say.

Honest opinions because you asked, however, I'm open to finding out more about how it might work.

Many thanks @hoosie

Congratulations on the delegation, that's great news! 😍

We welcome honest feedback - no point in setting up a scheme that doesn't help savers. For some savers, it would provide the added structure they need, for others, they like to have more flexibility.

You'll find the recurring payments facility if you go to the "send" menu in the liquid HIVE section in your wallet. In the bottom left-hand corner, there's a slider to activate recurring payments. If you turn it on, you're offered the number of payments you want to make and how frequently you want to make them. The arrangement can be cancelled at any time and will automatically stop if there is not enough HIVE to make the payment.

Hello @hoosie. I'll visit your savings post later. Yes, that certainly is a commitment to an automated plan. I utilize the automation for 2 other investments. I'm mixed on whether to enter a 3rd commitment as sometimes investment opportunities arise and I need my available liquid on a weekly basis.

Take care.

have a good weekend everyone, in my case I would not use automatic payments, there are months where I entered more and months where I entered less, technically now I am a month ahead but I am sure I will be late then I could not control that, perhaps there are people who It suits but it's not my case.

I do try to get round to visiting as many as possible, but this is a great idea.

The autosavings I like that idea for 2 Hive a week, would be great for me. It is easy to fritter money away and I would rather squirrel away 2 Hive automatically!
I do use the auto feature to send 1 HBD everyweek to combination for the charity draw!

Okay the automated feature. In peakd you can set a recurring payment automatically. So for example every Friday you could send 1 Hive to me for being fantastic. That is an example of the automated feature partner!

My savings post for this week. 18 HP gained this week. I am so glad.
https://leofinance.io/@vaynard86/my-hive-progress-and-savings-target-1

Regular commitment to saving: Yes! It makes things systematic especially in savings. When we have too many loose change, we tend to become less disciplined.

Would you like a regular commitment to saving using automated payments: Sounds good. I am in favour of that.

How many weeks from 1 January 2023 would you like it to run (40 or 50 weeks): No preference for me.

What would the pros and cons be: While we want to have some liquidity with us always, having a system is always to ensure we stay to our commitment and not deviate from the goal.

Hello @vaynard86. I like structure as well. However, I'd hate to tie up more of my liquid and HBD as I already have on automation. I'll have to think on this one.

I'll visit your savings post.

Take care.

On the automated savings I would say no as I am always buying good tokens that folks are selling cheap so I would not to partake in something that would tie up more hive.

AS for my week I have been buy EDS and EDSMM as much as I can. I think EDSMM will sell out soon so I have been trying to buy as much as I can.

Well that is for me for the week, have a great week all.

Hello @ericburgoyne. I can see your point in saying "NO" to the automated savings. I as well don't have a ton of HBD that I'm earning each week. I like to utilize my liquid Hive for investments and not tie it up.

Have a good weekend.

Hello @noctury. I'll visit your savings post. I'm torn on the automated savings. I already use the automated feature for CubLife buy-in and HBD for the Combination charity draw. Don't want to overload myself. My earnings have been low for the past few months during the bear market.

Hello Saturday Savers Club members. Hope everyone had a good week. Below I leave my savings report for Week 38. I've delved into diesel pools and finding new objectives.

https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@justclickindiva/week-38-delving-again-into-diesel-pools-with-brofund-or-2022-saturday-savers-club

For my Week 38 activity, I added an additional diesel pool: BRO:NEOXAG
Will see how this one pays out for me. I'm holding steady on the other saving front having infused some liquid into my Hive account. I now have breathing room to invest in other projects as they arise.

Congratulations to @yeckingo1 and @youyowi for winning in the Wheel of Names.

Automated Savings Plan. Right now, I have mixed feelings about it. I don't want to commit to a long term plan then have to cancel it. I'm already in 2 automated ventures. I tend to utilize my liquid Hive for ongoing projects and new ones that arise quickly. As you know, I save HBD in the Savings Club. My earnings are not as much as I'd like the past few months. It may seem as though 1 Hive is not a lot, but to some it may be. Would this project be above what we already have committed to in the savings chart OR a replacement? I could see it as a replacement steady weekly approach instead of a sliding upward scale.

Currently, according to the savings chart, the increasing amount each week is becoming a bit burdensome as I'm now at saving 4.78 HBD week. I'd have to increase my productivity in order to keep up with the weekly amount needed. On that score, saving 1 HIVE weekly would be a good fit.

Duration. This is one I'd have to think about. On first glance, I don't think 40 - 50 weeks would work for me. Perhaps 24 - 30. Six months at a time, then maybe recommitting for the 2nd half of the year.

Take care everyone.

Hello @justclickindiva 😍

Thank you for your feedback about the automated savings idea, that's really helpful.

To clarify - the automated proposal would be another option for savers, they could choose which they wanted to follow. There will be more discussion over the next few weeks to get to the best idea.

Here's my weekly update post https://ecency.com/hive-167922/@alonicus/words-468-reading-3-min-saturdaysavers-club-progress-week-10-38

I think next week might be a slow one, I seem to be having a lot of technical problems with Hive and Leodex/Leofinance right now (upvotes and transactions throwing up errors, viewing Ecency notifications giving me a blank screen etc). It's frustrating me enough that I'll probably walk away from Hive for a few days and come back with a calm head to get it sorted at a later stage.

For the autosaving idea, I don't keep much liquid HIVE because I tend to power it all up, but I like the idea because it might get me to keep a bit more liquid handy !

Hi, there! these days have been a bit busy in my life outside of Hive, so I have not been very active, however, I am still on track to achieve my end-of-year goals and I think my week has been going great despite the lack of activity because I won the 60 k Leos delegation of the bad luck prize at the last LPUD. So I can't complain.

As for automated savings, I have mixed feelings about it. What I earn from curatorship already goes mostly into my HP account which I consider my recurrent savings, and I like to decide in the short term what I do with my liquid rewards. So I'm not sure I'm sold on the idea of scheduled savings using recurring payments in Peakd. But I am open to hearing other people's opinions.
Have a great week :)

I think it's a good idea. In saving, perseverance is essential and if that can be automated, it is a great help. But the devil is in the details, so we will have to see the final proposal to make a decision.

@shanibeer - think I've come to the right place; are there any further guidelines to getting started as part of the group?

Welcome @lordtimoty 😍

Here's the FAQs post with the background.

We're in the last quarter of this year and, if you have a look at this post we're commenting on, you'll see we're starting to talk about plans for next year (and lots more about it in the comments). For the remainder of this year, a starting place is to set a primary goal (and maybe a secondary one, if you wish) of what you would like to achieve by 31 December 2022.

Many people have reaching a certain level of HIVE POWER or HIVE savings as a primary goal. Let me know in the comments and I will add it to the chart in the weekly Savings Club post. Then you drop by each week to let us know progress, support other savers and have a chance of winning EDS income tokens.

Hope that helps!

Sounds good to me; my first post on the blockchain was January 6 this year, so it meets up nicely enough. My goal has been 5,000 HIVE. Getting there, but would like the extra incentive and accountability of the group. I think I've joined the right discord - but not much chatter there, hope I found the right place.

@shanibeer brought me. I've been seeing posts of Tengolotodo and Coquicoin about this. I actually just don't know when to start doing this. .I do record my monthly growth here..but a weekly basis seems tough..maybe I will consider starting monitoring my hive assets and see what I can write about them 😅

Hi @jane1289 welcome 😍

There is no requirement to write a weekly post - that's up to individuals to decide what's best for them. We only ask people to drop by the weekly post and comment with their progress and support other savers by responding to their comments.

When you're ready, you can set a primary goal of what you would like to achieve by 31 December 2022 (you can choose a secondary goal, if you want to), let me know in the comments and I will add it to the chart.

If you do write a post, you can link it in the comments (monthly is fine). Savings Club members are pretty good at supporting each other's posts.

The Club is about making saving as easy as possible and having fun as the same time - plus the chance each week to win EDS income tokens 😎.

Feel free to have a look around and enjoy the comments!

Sure, thank you. My primary goal is to save 2000HP and 500 HBD. As for my secondary goal, I still have to think about what token to add to the list...I might just gonna write about it, probably next week 😅.

hehe if you look at the table in the post it has Primary and Secondary
that is why I said Primary 2000HP and Secondary 500HBD so that would be your savers club 2 goals.
Then in your post you can have as many as you like , you might remember in my posts I have four primary goals so that is what couldbe your two, does that make sense or am I blabbering too much

Welcome @fredfettmeister, lovely to have you here 😍

Do you have a Primary Savings Goal that you would like to achieve by 31 December 2022? If you have a look at the chart in the post, you'll be able to see some examples from other members - maybe 1,500 HP?

Let me know and I will add to the chart next week 🙂.

Then all you need to do is turn up here each week, read the post and leave a comment with your progress. You can write a savings post weekly or monthly, if you want to, and link it in the comments.

Each week there is the chance to win EDS tokens and, if you enter the contest, a chance to win an EDSMM 😍.

Enjoy!

My primary goal was 2000HP but i think it is out of range. I try to reach 1750HP until end of year.
