Fish Fruits and More: December 31st of 2021

Happy new year hive friends. How are you all? I wish everyone is in good health and in God's loving hands.

Today, December 31st, the last day of the year, everyone gets excites and gets busy preparing for the new year.
As of writing, I am in my mother on laws house and guarding my sleeping kids from the mosquitoes. Nanay gave us her one and only mosquito net when my husband and I were just newly wed because Ton told he that I cannot sleep well without it..
Here is a little decoration of the place where the family is to celebrate the new year.

Earlier, we had a a family dinner. Everyone brought a dish of his own. We brought cake and buko panda salad. Too bad I have not taken a photo of it before it was gone.

img_20211231_195045.jpg
I insisted that the kids should eat kids will eat first becaise it is already 8 in the evening and my sister in law is still cooking rice.

Before we went here, I cought a photo of my husband holding his bag to his body, and it was full of "mani".

I laughed as him because mani sound like money. Some people made ia tradition to make their pockets
and walltes to be full of money during the new year..

I even joked at him that he could make it to be the new traditon because it sounds like money too. By the way, mani in our place it the one that is called peanuts in English.

I caught him listing the ingredients of the dish he wants to have tonight too.

Earlier, I was tagged along by my co worker to go to the market to fetch fish fo lunch in the office. There, I saw many kids of fish being sold.

What he bought was a yellow fin tuna. The meat was being served as kinilaw, a filipino dish, a fish eaten raw like sushi minus the soysauce and rice, but has lots of special spices to make it very delicious.

The head and the bones were cooked as soup.

There are lots of fish in the market but I do not know the names of it.

We psses ad stopped by a fruit stand in the highway too. They explanded their stalls to make room for many fruits because lots of of people buys during new year.

Filipinos copied chinese men in feng shui, and they now believe that preparing 13 kinds of circle fruits in the dining table during the new year will bring luck and prosperity to thier life in the coming year. But as for me, since have my own home and family, I never prepared some bit I am still very blessed, for it is blessing that we need in our life. Those fruits, in my point of view is just made up by merchants just to sell thier goods before the year ends so it will not rot in thier storage.

Anyways, here are the fruits in the stall.

MiXed fruits in a little evaporated milk and overloaded with lots of sugar. This is sold 10 pesos per 200ml cup.

img_20211231_100745.jpg

Wrinkled and old lemons were sold. 20 dollars each. No one sems to be interested in it.
img_20211231_100719.jpg

This lot of mago that was bought by my co worker costs 10 dollar. It costs 3 dollars per kilo. And when we ate this eat this at lunch, it tastes sour.. Chemicals were used to make this ripe to sell just in time for the holiday. .
img_20211231_100625.jpg

img_20211231_100239.jpg
These grapes looks so good too. Its sold at 6 dollars per kilo. My co worker bought only half.
img_20211231_114651.jpg

img_20211231_100044.jpg
Kiat kiat these are small oranges and some tastes so sweet when ripe and very sour when it lacks of the ripe.
img_20211231_100044.jpg

img_20211231_100019.jpg
Mangoteen. Purple in skin but has a white flesh. This is believed to be containing lots of medicinal benefits.
img_20211231_100017.jpg

So this is how my last day of 2021 went. Thanks for stopping by and Happy New year to us all.

Its 00:25 here now, and its raining just after the fireworks were done. I am praying this means showers of blessings from above. Looks like our plan of going home is cancelled. Oooh,, and I'm gonna sleep. Without a mosquito net.

That "mani" reference was hilarious hahahahahaha. We also did that same thing the last night, my mother is super traditional and we had to stuff our pockets with coins so that we would be blessed with tons of money this year. We also prepared tons of round fruits as they seem to bring luck. Happy New Year!

I think your hubby has the right idea, perhaps I need to have some secret peanut stash on me at all times 😆. The fruit to the right of the rambutans is one of my favorite, but I don't know the English name. In Cambodia it's called "plae pnyiev," but I've never seen it anywhere else before. Now I can only think about fruit....

Happy New Year to you!! We made it to the other side! Thank you for posting on the #MarketFriday challenge. I know this is an especially busy time of year, so I am pleased that you took the time. To be honest with you, it touches my heart that it has continued for so long, and yet, almost every single person gives me something fresh and interesting. Many people really thought it would run its course of markets and end, but, everyone that participates has proven this theory wrong. With Christmas just past and New Year upon us, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you so much for helping make this challenge a success. Without your help, it would be just another place to post. It is people like you that have given it a recognizable name. Thank you!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers markets and eventually branching out and evolving over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact of what is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!
Go to the market, or anywhere that you pay money for a service.
Take pictures! Be creative!
Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost?
Post the picture(s) Of course, you should tell a little bit about the ones you post
Use the MarketFriday Community Platform to post #hive-196308 (this is not required, but appreciated)

Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it
Following me and reblogging the post so more see it would be appreciated !! Not a rule, just appreciated, more vision for more views on your posts!
You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post. If you don't and someone reads it, there is nothing to tie #MarketFriday to that post.
Please only one post each week. Believe it not, I run out of voting power if you put in many more than that.
As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!
