The Wenlock Edge Inn, sitting abandoned in Shropshire.

Why is it sitting abandoned?

NIMBYs

Folk with too much time on their hands prevented the pub from being converted into suitable accommodation for tourists, fearing their AONB would be ruined

Right so a DERP really improves the area? Unbelievable!

The place has been left to rot for about 6 years now, who knows what the owners intentions are having exhausted his options.

So I know this has been visited by others, and yet it remains untouched by the hands of taggers, goons and paraknobheads. Easy access too!

The fire escape opened up between floors. I’d like to say I was greeted by a headless woman

Up or down first? I hit the bedrooms.

This was not a dark and dingy old derp, plenty of natural light flooded the rooms

And this is the way the hospitality sector is going to go if we the public allow not only NIMBYs to get there own way, but also the puppets in government with their ridiculous tedious over zealous lockdowns.

6 years and it looks like this? You had better make sure the FB goons don't read this, else it will be another Wild Boar Hotel. Those beds look like they could be slept upon.

I'm guessing this is way rural, but so was the 'Boar'. Too far for me, my pubs are full of broken glass, massive holes to fall through and are generally far more wrecked than this gem.

I know, it’s quite a place, when you drive past it’s an obvious target, but tbh you wouldn’t choose the route unless you are local. Have not seen it on fb.......yet! I have put it up without externals and 😂 the number of pm’s begging for the location have been quite overwhelming. Why do folk get upset with a “fuck off” reply?

I guess inner city pubs are easy targets for the local knuckle draggers

Nobody looks here for clues, I found it within minutes. The maps image is from 2009 and shows a complex of buildings next to it. Are they all abandoned too?

the number of pm’s begging for the location have been quite overwhelming

LOL, I don't post on there anymore... not again, never again!

At the rear is a huge house empty used by the owners it’s in fantastic condition but a shell, it looks newly plastered and stuff.
I found out subsequent from the visit that one of the NIMBYs lives in the adjacent farm!
I do post there basically to wind people up and create “explorer’s envy” 😂

Wow, another great find!

How old do you reckon the place is???

How big's the town?

I think that is probably early 20th century, this one was out in the countryside, no neighbours and the nearest town probably 15 miles away !

Sweet! That could be my escape to the country...Except I'm already in the country now and dying to get back to Melbourne! Lol...
Oh and it snows over there too- far more than it does over here...
Maybe that's why my Welsh bio mum came over here...

Maybe in another lifetime....
In fact your explores remind me of a cross between escape to the country and antiques roadshow- from the arse end up though...haaaa
