Showreel filming.. another piece to camera

avatar

The other week I went out in the blistering sunshine.
I even got sunburn.
Easy to underestimate (and forget) the power of the sun... especially in Yorkshire 😆😎
(It’s usually the world capital of pissing it down in the freezing cold)

The reason I went out, was to film a piece to camera for my new music video showreel!

I rigged up a GoPro Hero 8 with a mic (loaned kindly from my good pal @jackshootsstuff) and took off to the middle of absolutely bloody nowhere for a good old
ramble.

I had a good old wander around the moors actually.
I walked specifically on the verge of Saddleworth Moor.

These moors have a grizzly past though, in the form of it being the location of ‘The Moors’ murders from between 1963-1965 where notorious killers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley assaulted, murdered and buried five children. Very brutal stuff and super sad. There is a body still out there, undiscovered, because the killers never disclosed that particular location.

There’s nothing creepier than being on huge expanse of the moors over dusk 😬

Anyway, luckily I didn’t see any murders take place where I was.... but it’s an awe inspiring place in the sunshine.

For my video, I’m following the same format of my last showreel in which I talk to the camera and introduce pieces of my work.
I want it to be like what I did back in 2018 and I was aiming for a more personal introduction to me and my work.

I’m going to have this new video edited and out there ASAP as I aim to re-launch my ashtv website, as well as launch a whole new branded website of my corporate work which I’m moving away from the ‘ashtv’ brand for.

So as well as the usual work and family to juggle, it seems I need to maintain my outward social presence again for the first time in 3 years.

Lots of work to do, so little time.

Cheers for reading, @ashtv.

Cool stuff. Hope you can get plenty of work. We just booked for a local festival with McFly and Ash playing. It's been a while.

The moors are looking pretty dry. Need some of that Yorkshire rain.

Oh man, I love Ash. Ace band.
Sounds like an awesome local festival! Two great names there!

Yeah it’s been raining hard since that one day I went filming. I struck lucky with the sunshine.
There was actually a moor fire that started the day after I went out filming. The smoke was visible for miles, as well as the smell. The rains definitely helped put it out.

Moor fires are a massive problem when it gets super dry out there. Doesn’t take much to set one off.

We saw Ash ages ago and I saw McFly with my daughter a while back too, but she has seen then plenty of times. We are booking various events now, so hope things can get back to normal.

It's been a pretty dry winter here, but we don't get many fires. I can imagine it could be bad on the moors.

hello @ashtv,
That's an expression I hadn't heard about the piss capital, it's a pretty amazing wasteland, aren't you afraid to be alone in that place?

I'm promoting That curation trail on HIVE and it would help me a lot if you forward it, You can also check it yourself: you might find it interesting to join, I'd love to hear your comments.
