I bought an Old PS3 for $5 at an Auction!!

Ahh... the Sony Playstation 3.
Feels like it was just yesterday since Sony announced the first ever release of their 7th generation console, but it was actually way back in 2005!

I think my earliest memory of the PS3 was back in 2015 when I used to play games like GTA V, Spiderman Web of shadows, and FIFA 15 with my old buddies. Yeah, those were good times but now with the new advancements in technology, particularly the gaming technology, the world has turned the almighty PS3 to 2022's official retro gaming console😂.

Like for real! To the younger generation, the PS3 has become the new Gameboy so to speak😂.

Lol, I remember asking one of my students if he ever played a playstation 3 and his reply was:

Arghh... A PS3? For real? I didn't even know Sony went that low.

My reaction - Either this kid is really dumb and has no idea of the almighty playstation console generation or... he's just plain young. The latter might be the more likely though.

I hope.

Alright, alright, let me not get too sidetracked because the purpose of this post isn'tt to reminisce about the life span of the Playstation 3, No! I'm hear to tell you how I got my hands on an Old PS3 for a price of nearly nothing...

So it all began when I started seeing numerous questions on the internet like:

Is the PS3 still worth it in 2022?

or

Is it wise to spend my money on the PS3?

And in as much as I could understand the outdatedness of the console, I was still hurt by the questions. I mean in my opinion, the PS3 was sort of the pioneer of next gen graphics in console gaming and everything after was just a little improvement here and there on graphics, mechanics, gameplay, and oh!... Cutscenes :) Hence, I made it my mission to revisit the world of the Playstation 3.

In all honesty, I couldn't find a brand new PS3 anywhere on the internet. Most ones available are either fairly used or refurbished. However, it wasn't until my buddy referenced me to this auction site on eBay, was I then able to get hands on the console.

The bidding itself was actually pretty easy and my strategy:

Chill until the other bidders have had their fun with "30 dollars! 50 dollars! 120 dollars!" rant and then swoop in at the very last minute and increase the bidding by 5 dollars.

And so yup! That's basically how I got the console for that ludicrous price...Lol, even used PS2s don't sell for that amount 😁.

The PS3 however isn't brand new - it's fairly used and also jailbroken (laughs in multiman).
It comes with 60 gb of ROM storage and about 7 pre-installed games in it which include of: GTA V, Call of duty Advanced warfare(if you know, then you know :), The Amazing Spiderman, Blur, Pes 22, Fifa 20, and Ninja Gaiden 3.

Honestly, I was a bit surprised by the overall quality of the game(especially GTA V) because I felt there really wasn't much of a difference in terms of Graphical improvement when it came to newer consoles and I'm referring strictly to the PS4!

But HOWEVER,: that is not to say that there isn't an actual, perceivable difference when it comes to game quality in comparison to other newer consoles. No!! There IS actually. But all I'm saying is that the difference in Graphics(PS3 to PS4) didn't differ as much as it did between the PS2 and PS3. That shit was revolutionary :)

For a 7th generation gaming console?.. I'ld say graphics aren't so bad. Plus the gameplay handled pretty well.

I honestly don't know why this game got a lot of backlash from COD players the way it did. I like ATLAS :)

Ahh.. reminds me of the old days: Butt naked, eating pizza, and vegging out in my room; playing with the Franklin and the other guys while murdering innocent NPCs on the street.

I still do it though :-)

Well at the end, I think I just might give away the PS3 to charity or at least to this young boy at my church. I mean I really don't have much use for it anyway and so it'll probably be better to send it to a place or to a person whom would make good use of it.
