Worksite - Rainy day

Hey everyone. Zak here from a cold and rainy Cape Town, South Africa.

As we begin to move towards winter we will be seeing much more wet weather as this area of South Africa is known for its wet winters and lots of rain.

Other parts of the country once you go up above the plateau in the interior they will have dry winters and summer storms.

The result in my workplace however is a industrial area that is now I'll cover it in water and any sort of solvent or spillage that has happened in the area will now come to light as one single drop of oil is capable of polluting a 1000 l of water.

That is why it is generally important to us to have good Environmental impact assessments whenever there is a generator on the key side there is a drain Pan to catch any of the oil and that drain Pan is also not allowed to get wet which would then just push all of the oil out of the drain Pan and onto the gravel and then run off to water sources.

The rain can be beautiful of course although usually when you're working in this sort of environment you do not think of beauty instead you think of the uncomfortable sensation of a wet overall and wet boots and water pouring off your hard hat.

Usually Table Mountain will loom above us all showing us a breathtaking view but with all this rain all we can see is cloud cover.

There was a bit of thunder earlier and one thing that I'm not too sure about is what actually happens to a vessel that is in the dry dock if it gets struck by lightning. I have no idea whether or not it is Earth with a lightning rod or something similar or if there's an opportunity for all of us to get electricated by being on a metal vessel.

It would be interesting to learn what actually happens so I guess I will ask somebody.

Thank you for reading this brief post I hope to do a bit more content very soon I am a little bit behind on my writing for my fiction series that I do on hive alongside my co-writer. I hope you all have a safe and wonderful evening and wherever you are might be neither too wet nor too cold.

Cheers!

I think the metal hull of the ship would be earthed just by sitting in the dry dock and contacting the concrete or what ever it sits on. If the ship was hit by lightning it would take the path of least resistance to the hull as it was designed if sitting in water so I am think you should be ok.
