New House, Empty House

avatar

Good morning, everyone!

If you have been following me for a while you know that I was having a lot of trouble with an annoying neighbour, who lives like her rented apartment is a zoo. She has 4 little ratdogs, you know the kind... the ones that can keep barking (or better, squeaking) for 5h or 6h nonstop. 🤢

Besides that, she has a cat, a rabbit and a few birds. Considering that she's an irrational animal as well, you can see how that is no longer a human house but a farm or a zoo. The only things missing are a horse, a cow and a couple of goats on the balcony. I'm sure she'll get there if she isn't stopped.

For over two years I was very sleep deprived as all the noise coming from that house kept me awake for nights without end. At most, I could enjoy 2h straight of sleep. Maybe 3h or 4h in very rare occasions.

After trying to deal with the problem by talking to the neighbourhood, the neighbours association, the village mayor... and after calling the police over 30 times, nothing came out of it. It's like the laws exist only to be ignored. 🤡🌍

Sometimes I wonder why we even pay taxes. It's not like the state is doing anything for us... is it? We'd be better served using our own money to hire private companies and solving our problems by ourselves.

My mental health was deteriorating fast and before I ended up completely insane or with some chronic disease, I gave up and started looking for a new apartment.

Eventually I found a better place to live... and decided to move out of that lunatic neighbourhood. 😵🤪

And that bring us to this post. Now I'd like to show you the pictures from my new place.

One interesting thing right from the start is the open concept of the kitchen, this is not very common in old houses around here.

It appears that there used to be a wall and a door here, separating the kitchen from the living room. I'm happy the previous owner made this upgrade, it makes the place a lot more comfortable and bigger. 🤗

As for the rest of the house, it's a regular 3 bedroom apartment, as soon as you step in from the front door you are in a small corridor which leads to all other divisions of the house.

To the left we have the living room and kitchen I showed you earlier... Besides it there's a door to a small bedroom.

I'll set up this place as a small guest house, it will be great for friends to stay in, in case they are too tired (or too drunk) to drive home. 😎

The room includes a closet, perfect for keeping clothes... and maybe even some books.

Right next to this bedroom, we find the main bathroom of the house, with a large bathtub.

I need to put up a shower curtain, before this can be used though... or else the entire floor will be full of water! 😅

As you can see, it also needs a mirror.

Back to the front entrance and turning to the right we see the rest of the house. The bathroom I've just showed is the first door to the left. Ahead, there's another compartment which will become my computer office... and to the right lies the main and largest bedroom.

So, this will be turned into an office, with a computer desk, a small couch and a bookcase. The room is relatively small so it's better not to crowd it with too much furniture.

The main bedroom is a lot larger. You can definitely fit a king-sized bed in here and still have plenty of room for a cabinet to put some clothes and shoes.

Here's a photo taken from the other end, from next to the window...

Just like in the first room, there's a closet included... not too big, but quite useful nevertheless.

Next to the closet there's a small bathroom with a shower and the basic bathroom appliances.

Yep, I'll need to install a mirror over here as well. Apparently the previous owners left in the middle of a renovation. They didn't complete everything they were planning to do. 🤔

Let's go back to the living room, so I can show it better... As you see there are plenty of windows to allow natural light to flow in:

And there's even a nice bonus, a small closed balcony which can be used as a small division.

Over here I already set up a small table and a clothes drying rack.
The space is small but enough for 3 people to have a meal... and in the summer it will feel nice, it's almost as having my personal restaurant terrace, with a great view! 🍽️🍷

This is also the place where I'll force my smoking guests to go, when they feel the need to smoke! Ahahahah! There will be no smoking inside the house! 🚭

You might have noticed from some of the photos that some wires are coming out from the walls. Those are useless to me and will be cut so they can fit inside the holes. Then I'll need to find some covers since the previous owners haven't left them behind.

Every room has double windows which cuts a lot of the noise from neighbours and outdoors. I hope the quality of my sleep will improve and with it, my mental health will be restored. I wish you never have a moronic neighbour like I did. Living next to such savage people is a real torture, they're nothing but criminals who don't know how to behave in a civilized manner.

So, I hope you liked this small tour... even if all the rooms are empty at the moment!

Nice spot. Congrats.

That much room stateside you're looking at about 15 hundred USD/month and that doesn't cover lights or water or trash or parking or..

Over here it depends on the zone, it should be over 1000€ in the center of Lisbon... and our salaries are a lot lower than in the US. 🤢

I know what you meant and it's very annoying when the dogs are continuously barking. I am glad that Gigi rarely barks and she barks outside, not inside...

Congratulation on the new home, it's beautiful...

Yeah, those tiny dogs are horrible... and with a bad owner they're even worse. 🤮
I'm glad you like the house. Maybe you can stay in my guest room if you ever visit these parts!

Golden words!

I have the same concept of the kitchen.

I congratulate you on your new acquisition, on new home.
How could you tolerate the lack of normal sleep for 2 years?

I have the same concept of the kitchen.

Wow, that's interesting. Is that a new house or a renovated one?

How could you tolerate the lack of normal sleep for 2 years?

I couldn't, that's why I had to move out! My mind was totally destroyed. 😖

I built the house myself. I went to live in it for the New Year 2014.

My daughter moved into a new apartment in Moscow. 3 rooms. One room is also an open kitchen and a recreation and reception area.
There are 2 more bedrooms separately.
I've seen such a thing in many films.

Good news! I'm glad you were able to move, or will be as living in such a place can lead to no good. This place looks big and nice too. Are you renting or did you buy it?

The rents are absurd right now, in the end it made more sense to buy it.
Thanks for the visit!

Lovely place, but I wouldn't cut the wires, put electrical tape over the exposed part and roll them up and put them in the holes, or simply shove them in, they look like wires for lighting, so if you do decide to install the missing light fixtures you'll have the wires handy.

Thanks for the tour, I enjoyed that.

You found the best solution to your problem. I wish you a better sleep in your new home.

I have to say, I love the kitchen and the idea of having a personal terrace restaurant. Pretty cool. 👍👍👍

I've met most of the neighbours, there's only 4 apartments in my building, it's not that big!
You're almost right, not Spain... but close. I'm in Portugal!

The dog situation is absolutely annoying and you resisted too much to be honest. For 2 years.... I would take action after 1 week. The city should remove the dogs from that house. And cats. And others. You are moving and becoming free... how about the others?.. so problem is still there.
We've forced our cat lady to move a few years back. I can remember the smell...

And

Now a new beginning for you! A new house is always fun and exciting. Hopefully you can get rid of these extra cables safely and be careful 🙏
Decorating and dreaming about it is really calming and relaxing. We love making some research what to buy where to put but I see you've already decided most of the things. And it a big house too.
I wish you a good long happy days in there! 👏🤗🤗

The city should remove the dogs from that house

They should but they don't. I've called the cops over 30 times. I've lost count. They did nothing.

I wish you a good long happy days in there!

Thank you very much! 🤗
