A Perfect Place to Relax... [PhotoChain Challenge - 32th Edition]

(Edited)

Good night, fellow Bees of the Hive!

This is my entry for the PhotoChain Challenge: 32th Edition, hosted by @davidesimoncini.

The keywords for this edition are White and Walkway, picked by the previous winners @qwerrie and @melinda010100. (My personal keyword for this edition is River.)

Note: I had to downsize all the photos because only Ecency would show them: View This Post at ecency.com, please. Due to technical reasons, neither PeakD nor Hive.Blog display large photos. Are they still on the 20th century? 🙄

This shot was taken at Ponte da Barca, a quiet little town in the North of Portugal. The garden you see above, between the two white buildings is called O Jardim dos Poetas, meaning The Garden of Poets...

The closest building is the old marketplace. It was built in the 18th century... and there, every merchant from the neighbourhoods used to come to showcase and sell his/her products. Nowadays the market is held at another place, because the town has grown and this place became too small to host such an event.

The large building on the far end of the garden is a hotel and it was named after the garden. Its name is Hotel Os Poetas, as you can see written on its facade. It translates to The Poets Hotel.

I never stayed at this hotel but it looks like a beautiful place to pick when you're visiting the city, since it's right across the river. 😎

Along the river there is a walkway that leads to a public park and a fluvial beach...

As you notice, the waters are crystal clear and you can see all the sand and algae at the bottom of the river.

The fluvial beach is very small but don't worry, there aren't many people around as most tourists stick to the larger cities. You can relax here without the confusion of the big touristy places.

The place dedicated for bathing is protected behind a wall of rocks, so it's almost like a natural swimming pool.

The beach is quite small... and the water is shallow but even so, there's a lifeguard on duty!!! 😁

These last five shots were captured from the exact same distance, believe it or not. That's why it's called a Super Zoom Lens! 😁

I hope you enjoyed these photos... and who knows, maybe you'll visit Ponte da Barca, if you ever come to Portugal? 🤗

Thanks for the visit.

Damn it, now the images only appear in ecency. Not on PeakD or Hive.Blog. 🤣

It wasn't my fault. PeakD and Hive.Blog cannot handle photos over 10 MB. They are still stuck in the past. 😆

Lovely place, it's great that you have pinned it. At least when someone is in the area, coul check what to visit.

Beautiful photographs 😉 and even with a lifeguard on duty I would not get into water. Coz he will be busy with other like me 😬 so no more trouble from me 😬

Ahahah! The waters aren't dangerous here! The guy barely has anything to do all day long. 😂
Thanks for dropping by!

Beautiful photos and a great entry for one of my favorite challenges! I hope the other frontends catch up to Ecency!

Thank you very much. I had a lot of trouble to get these photos up and running in all frontends. I had to upload them again with PeakD to make it work. 🤦‍♂️

Hey, you got this off in time. Cool. Your pictures are so crisp and clear I just want to be part of it already. Great place. There's a tag I think you should have used for this post as well- #haveyoubeenthere. They appreciate and upvote beautiful places all over the world and as far as I am concerned this rates just as good as those they have appreciated. Good luck on the contest. But I dread to think if you win. Where will I get a picture of a river?

Thanks for the tip. There are so many tags... and only the first five one are important. It's impossible to pick them all. 😂

How come you can't find a river? There are plenty of rivers around! Where do you live?

We do have a river here but I have to go on foot to take a picture of it. Not impossible to do but could be tricky as the bridge is quite busy and the walkway is not that wide. Mobility is also a challenge nowadays for senior citizens even with the relaxed quarantine rules :(

Best wishes on the contest, mate! This looks like a wonderful little town to visit, and just get lost in time for a day. The architecture and scenery is most beautiful, and very quaint, too! The first thing that came to mind for a Malaysian equivalent are the streets around Melaka (Malacca) River.

In the heart of historic city of Malacca, a former Portuguese colony back in the 1500s and 1600s, it's a lot more busy than Ponte da Barca, but it has that nice waterway. There's a lot of shopping that can be done around here, although a lot of the old Malacca town has been somewhat swallowed up by the newer, more modern buildings and towers.

Still, at least you'd get to see a similarly beautiful Portuguese culture, architecture, and remnants of history still roaming around today! On the subject of Peakd/Hive not being able to upload large photos, I feel like they've updated it recently. I remembered I uploaded a few nearly 20MB photos into a recent post, and it didn't give any errors. Odd... :-/

Those houses really resemble some of ours. Very nice!

Well, these sites do things differently. PeakD and Hive.Blog downsize your images as soon as you upload them... while Ecency uploads the photos in full quality and downsizes them when you're viewing them.

So, if you upload them with Ecency and they are larger than 10 MBs the other frontends won't be able to display them.

Ah, interesting. I've never used Ecency, so I wouldn't know. I guess for my car posts, it might not make much of a difference, since the quality is normally good enough. Though I can imagine it being quite an issue with more photography-centric posts.

Yeah, I never had a problem with my old photos. But now that I have a new camera, files above 10 MB are pretty common. 😊

Wow, shooting those RAW photos, eh? Great to see more awesome pictures from you, as always. I guess HIVE/Peakd really does need to start updating the upload limit at some point, especially since there's loads of people sharing photos and the like here.

No, I don't have it set up for Raw photos. Those would be even larger.

Lol, it would probably fill up the entirety of Hive's servers! 😆

For sure. I don't know how Ecency is able to afford paying to host all those images, even with the fee cut they take on each post. Seems kind of crazy to me. 😜

Awesome post @trincowski, shamed to admit I had to google "fluvial," and I am a native English speaker.

Thanks for teaching this English speaker some English today.

Peace and quiet is always number one on my choice in places, this looks so quaint and beautifully clean.

3rd photograph with river in front, town and mountains further away is a delightful one to show the region, well done!
