MOTIVATION FOR SUCCESS

In this life, for one to be successful you need to have both an end goal and much more importantly – something pushing you to that goal. This "something" can be said to be one's motivation. Even for those who may have bad intentions, they just do not do them unknowingly as there are forces both seen and unseen directed to motivate or encourage those actions. But we are in for the good. Right? 😁 For me, at times, when I try to think in the direction this topic comes through, I see that there are tons of things that encourage me to stand even when I grow tired and worked out.

First, my family! Yes! Here, I do not mean just my nuclear family, it extends more than that. Actually, it encompasses my extended family and my place of origin. I am someone who likes to know things in the aspect of history which is why I ask questions, even the ones that may seem senseless – I ask them anyway. Where I come from, I have heard and seen what not being enlightened, basically, can cause. Perhaps, when the majority of inhabitants of a place are not that enlightened, anyone that may want to bring enlightenment is seen as alien and they could be cut off from achieving the goal. Seeing this, I have determined that whatever it may take for me to be successful, legally, I will do it. And in turn, develop my environment.

By environment, I mean those around me. You know, they say change begins with you. So to change the mindset of a group of people, begin with a person. Teach that person and then ask him to do the same to another, and then one and one ... the change we seek will ultimately manifest.

Like I said earlier, in the history, I have researched, apart from my origin, I do the same to people I see that are successful in their field. I follow them, read their books, and see how they were able to achieve the feats we match to them today. And I’d say, I want to be like these people too.

"Money answereth all things", the Holy Bible says. I have seen or heard what money can do and undo. Not only money but affluence also. For example, the lecturers in almost all Federal institutions in my country have been on strike for about 5 months now. I do think that if my parents had enough money, I would have been in a private university and not one where you’d be at the mercy of the lecturers who embark on incessant strikes. I do not think I would want this kind of sorry situation for my kids or those around me. Hence, the zeal to succeed.

Besides, I remember my parents asking me when I wanted to choose the course I am currently studying. My mum asked me precisely whether it was what I wanted to choose. And she added a clause,” Nobody will help you read, it is going to seem tough at some point along the journey”. Honestly, in school when things are seeming too cumbersome to handle and I just wish I could just sleep or even forget about them, I remember what she said so I just can not back out. That sentence above always rang in my ears. That is the same thing I apply in other things apart from academics.

I have read or listened to some esteemed people who say that “There are people’s lives attached to me”. This is tantamount to saying that my success or failure will definitely have an effect on some people, maybe nations. And I do not think I will want to let them down in any area of their lives. Because I have seen what the presence or lack of certain things can cause or produce for either destruction or development.
