WHAT WE DESERVE AND WHAT WE GET...

Life is hard. Life is a pile of crap all stored up and served up for you to have a go at. Life is pain. There's always that short moment of respite but overall, you will get your share of the horror; it's inescapable. I actually didn't say all this. Some wise monk said it. So don't take my word for it, take his. I am not a narcissist, nor a pessimist (I am the most cheerful and optimistic bloke I know, trust me), and I am not a nihilist. Okay, maybe a bit of nihilism is innate. I have been thinking so much lately of the incredible imbalance in life. The unfairness, and its likes. Even the holy book tells us how it works. The strongest don't always overcome, the fastest doesn't always win the race, etc. It's all chance. One of the books I have in my library 80/20 principle by Richard Koch talks about this (yup, I read a few pages and abandoned it, lol). The book talks about how the minority of input yields the majority of results, and vice versa.

Here's the funny bit, the imbalance is inherent in everything. In life, love, people, work, etc. Every single phenomenon there is. I remember when I was young, my teacher would always ask us who we liked better, mum or dad. We'd always say we loved them equally and all, but deep deep down, we had our preferences. Understanding this could prove pivotal to how we see and handle life's difficulties and challenges because it sure as hell would come.

One thing that had an adverse effect on my mental health a long time ago was expectations. Bloody hell they crushed me so badly. When I was younger, very young, I was a high-flying lad in everything. My academics was tops, my social life, the peak, everything was near perfect. I was effortlessly rad at everything, so everyone held a certain standard for me. But what Nobody told me ever was that in life;

WHAT WE DESERVE AND WHAT WE GET IS NEVER IN THE BALANCE.

Nobody told that little lad that sometimes hard work doesn't pay off. Sometimes all you need is a lucky break. Sometimes all you need to do is never give up. Sometimes your lucky break could be so close. If I knew all this, who knows, I could be a world beater. It's never too late I reckon. This generation of youts knows that life is not all sunshine and rainbows but they have refused to accept it. Okay forgive me, I've derailed.

So you see dear random reader, sometimes you never really get what you think you deserve. Trying to understand this would help you let go of some things you should, would help you have a shift in perspective, and would help widen your understanding and tolerance level immensely. AH, well, that's enough gibberish for today. I really. wanted to share this with you guys.
