The News

The latest Hive hardfork seems to have gone pretty smoothly. Some of us are seeing issues in dapps such as Peakd with some failures to fetch posts, but I would hope that will be resolved soon. Some of the changes were to improve the back end, but users can not vote multiple times without having to wait and change their votes without penalties.

The 'cost' of most types of transactions will increase. This could help reduce abuse and improve the scalability of Hive.

Prices

For my price chart this week I have included $SBD and you can see it is falling. They obviously gave up on maintaining the $1 peg years ago. Meanwhile $HBD has been pretty solid even when it has been knocked off course by speculation. It soon returns to $1. $HIVE has dropped a bit this week, but it is not too bad.

Users

Hive users are still ranking up. I take this graphic from the daily post by @arcange. We have gained hundreds of minnows this year and orcas went up this week too. Increasing your HP makes your vote worth more and shows your faith in Hive. People will notice that.

The @tenkminnows account I run is supporting small accounts to help them level up. You can delegate or follow its vote trail to assist that.

I have been having fun with polls on Twitter. They are not going to be un-biased given who follows me, but they can be interesting nevertheless.

Friday Follows

  • I see @bambukah has been part of a project that allows you to delegate your resource credits (RCs). This will be useful to projects that need to do a lot of transations.
  • @wilddrumss is another drummer I found on Hive. There is a drumming community on Hive, but the admin has gone missing. I may create a new one so it can be moderated.
  • @mcsamm and @collinz have been reporting on the project to build water bore-holes in Ghana. I love to see Hive actually changing lives and this gives us great publicity.
  • I have to wish @run.vince.run and @run.kirsty.run congratulations on their recent wedding. They even did some running on their honeymoon. Vince is behind @strava2hive that lets you easily create Hive posts from Strava activities.

The End

You will see that I run various projects myself on Hive. I have also started a few communities, some of which are active. I think it is worth doing things like this to make the platform better. The more we put in, the more we stand to get out of it, and not just in terms of money. Hive ought to be fun as that will keep people coming back, even when they are not making so much. After all, they use other platforms that pay them nothing.

I am always looking for people to add to the #BritList. If you find someone or recruit a friend then let me know so I can add them. I can help out people who want to produce such lists for other countries.

I think it is cool to see what the bore hole project is doing. Lots of lives are being changed because of Hive. Good stuff!

On the advice of another I changed the auto switching of the node off on Peakd and similarly on Keychain and defaulted both to Hive.blog and haven't had any issues since. Will keep it that way for a week or so till things stabilise
