Seeking Happiness & Gradually Adulting

Today, I took my Dad for a stroll in the bylanes of our village. This happens to be his favourite playground, for many decades but today he was unable to enjoy the little outing. He was helpless and unable to cope with outside atmosphere.

By spending time during the last stage of his life, I am learning many true aspects of living life. These aspects can only be found theoritically in any books. But I am getting to learn many of them practically. More importantly, I am observing how human gets so helpless as age starts to take over the body.

This is my dad's first outing after many months. To keep him safe, I prefer to keep him inside the room and ocassionally took out. But a stroll is something new, I tried to cheer him. He was enjoying it, but soon his weak body made him to sleep. Still this little outing gave me immense joy. Honestly, by spending times with the loved ones, you will experince a different kind of happiness, something which even money can't buy. I learnt in last few years, even though I do not have enough income source , still spending time with him gives me good amountbof happiness.

Growing up is not about getting jobs, having kids or earning lot of money. It is all about spending time with elders, looking after their needs, handling their illness and arranging for medical treatment. Seeing our dear ones die in a peaceful manner should be our top priority This is called as real adulting. Unlike just earning money and seeking happiness in materislistic things.

This is what I feel, after being with my Dad for last 6 years. He is my hero, and I love ever moment spent with him. Many people opt for their own lifestyle and I have chosen this for me. And feeling blessed with my Dad.

Peace!!

Namaste @steemflow

When we are children, a good parent takes you by the hand and learns you how to walk and live.
When a parent gets old a good child takes his daddy by the hand and helps him to walk and feel alive.
It is the wheel of life but not all children remember their parents' love and reciprocate in times of need.
I really liked your post and I think you were lucky to have a father who was a hero to you and your father is lucky to have a son like you
