Rehab & My Recovery

Why I'm in Recovery...

I'm in recovery as a result of my Major Depressive Disorder, and General Anxiety Disorder. I have been suffering from crippling depression since middle school. I have been using just about every drug under the sun since I was 14.

As a result, the past few years of my life have been chaotic, to say the least. I've been drifting between friends' houses, and 3/4 houses (sober living houses). I have come to the conclusion I am absolutely unsuccessful at being an addict, and I will never be able to maintain a life of using drugs.

Since I got in rehab, I got put on 3x 8 mg Suboxone and 3x 800 mg gabapentin to fend off opioid cravings, and help with my anxiety and irritability. I never had any success with bare-bones recovery before, but I understand why people don't like Suboxone. I personally think I need it for starting my journey to becoming a successful adult. I have regained my motivation, energy, and ambition. I want to start working hard on my blog while I work on a career in network security, but I have a lot of faith in Hive, and hopefully, my blog, along with a decent job is enough income for steady housing, and a new pc for college.

The plan is to start going to college for network security as soon as I get on my feet, and self sufficient.

This rehab is co-occuring so I plan on doing some research and doing anonymous surveys on what drug's people are addicted to and their mental health diagnosis. I hope you all find the information useful, It will be posted as soon as everything is put together.

I also have plenty of stories from jail, rehabs, and using if anyone is interested let me know. Anyone with suggestions on what they would like to read about blog wise, and whats trending would be greatly appreciated.

I get out of rehab on the 11th, and I'm going to a 3/4 sober living home, as well as getting a job right away. Thanks to everyone who showed support on my introduction post, :) My journey is just starting, but I have a lot of hope for the immediate future.

Stay tuned for a variety of interesting posts once I get the resource credits. Currently, producing and editing several new posts.

It for sure makes me feel less alone. I am going to take a little break from the personal posts, I think, but I will get back to them soon.

I would not take a break, posting often is what builds an account. And the personal stuff is also a way to vent the mind.
But do whatever makes you happy that’s allowed on hive hahah

It is never easy, a lot of us have gone through some form of ordeal, but now it seems quite a bit of trouble from the opiod side of things. Your plans sound realistic and strong, just do your best and if you keep at it and need a little more resources, I will be happy to grant it @sludlung. Best of wishes on that and on your Hive journey, just remember, Rome was not built in a day, and it will take perseverence and dedication. There are a lot of people here with that same amount of perseverence.

I appreciate all the help a lot. I hope everyone enjoys my upcoming posts as much, or more. And at times, I had not an ounce of hope left, or drive to persevere, but I mad it out the rut it seems like, and I came so far I have to succeed.

@sludlung

Was good to meet you at @theterminal, as well as the GiftGiver Server. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis back in 2016... and served in the U.S. Army for a few years... PTSD is not just an acronym. Anyway...

I applaud you for taking a stand and choosing to get your life in order. Nothing like this is easy, but in the end, it will be worth it. Proud of you for the choices you are making... look forward to seeing how your journey on the blockchain expands...

Good' morning @sludlung, recovery is a long road with many pitfalls.
Depression is not something you can just "get over".
In 2003 after having been through many court imposed rehabs, and finally one I chose to put myself in, I had relapsed once again.
I saw a commercial on TV for Zoloft (antidepressant)
"Do you have racing thoughts? Do you find it hard to shut your mind off at night so you can sleep? Do your thoughts go round and round in circles?"
I said

My God! They are talking about ME!!!

So I contacted the VA (medical provider) and was diagnosed as major Clinical Depressive disorder.
I was on Antidepressants for many years, and I give full credit that had I not done that, I'd be dead now. Without that helping to redress the imbalance in my brain, I'd never had been able to address the imbalance in my life and stop the addictive cycle.
Didn't happen over night neither, and although I am no longer taking any sort of anti depressants nor any recreational drugs, I am on a lot of meds because of all those years of unhealthy living and reckless behavior my body is trashed.
But I am alive, I have my own home, I have a steady income and I have a career that should I wish to pick back up and ♫♪PLAY♫♪ again, I could be making $money$ at it again (and I just may do that in the next 6 months or so)
Do not give up the forward motion you are on, stay true and strong.
There is light at the end of the tunnel, and it is WONDERFUL
