Kolejny dzień zaczęliśmy inaczej, bo od plaży z turnusem emerytów, którzy im dalej w dzień tym bardziej się wykruszali i zastępowała ich bardziej młodzież. Potem zaliczyliśmy dobry obiadek. Następnie poszliśmy pozwiedzać teren wokół Łuku Triumfalnego I starego miasta przechodząc przez Parc de la ciutadela. Zdjęć narobiłem jak Chiński turysta. Coraz bardziej mi się ta Barcelona podoba a zarazem odczuwam smutek, bo tu dokładnie widać dokąd zmierza Europa. Tu jest właśnie przykład tego, dlaczego Europa przestała działać. Miasto, które 100 lat temu dostało jakiegoś szmyrgla i postanowiło powiedzieć całemu światu potrzymaj mi vino de verano dziś jest siedliskiem przestępczości, bezdomności. Ściągają na pęczki ludzi z Afryki czy Subkontynentu, mając bezrobocie koło 8%. Chociaż te też może być w znacznej mierze strukturalne a nie powiązane z bieżącą koniunkturą. Ale mniejsza z tym, makroekonomią człowiek się nie naje. Ciekawe, jak wyglądałoby moje życie tutaj? Czy właśnie siedziałbym pod blokiem i pił piwo zagryzając tapas, czy może uprawiałbym jogging albo inny sport?

We started another day a bit differently, with a trip to the beach, accompanied by what looked like an organised holiday group of pensioners. As the day went on, they gradually started thinning out and were replaced by a younger crowd. Then we had a nice lunch. After that, we went sightseeing around the Arc de Triomf and the Old Town, walking through Parc de la Ciutadella. I took photos like a Chinese tourist.
I'm liking Barcelona more and more, but at the same time I feel a certain sadness, because you can see very clearly here where Europe is heading. This is a perfect example of why Europe has stopped working. A city that, 100 years ago, suddenly went a bit crazy and decided to tell the whole world, “Hold my vino de verano,” is now plagued by crime and homelessness. They're bringing in people from Africa and the Indian subcontinent by the truckload while having unemployment of around 8%. Although that may also be largely structural rather than related to the current economic cycle. But never mind that — you can't eat macroeconomics.
I wonder what my life would look like here. Would I be sitting outside my apartment block drinking beer and snacking on tapas, or would I be out jogging or doing some other sport?
