MY LITTLE INVESTMENT
Being a teacher is not an easy task talkless of being a teacher in the village. It's not always easy for someone that has been living in the city all his life and suddenly has to pack his bags and move to a rural area.
Even my village I don't go there often, I only visit once in a while, and the highest duration of days I've spent there was just three days, and it was during Christmas.

It all started when I got a job with the teaching service commission (TESCOM) if I knew the posting will be done according to our respective local government maybe I'll would have my way around it, but unlucky me, it caught me unaware and so I'm here.
And ever since have been here, my stay has been good I must say, although not that instresting because I could barely enjoy all the goodies I do enjoy in he city here. Only enjoying the village goodies.
Here is so local that we don't even have a bank, no filling station talkless of a good restaurant like Chicken republic and the rest of them. No shopping mall, no Cinema to go chill during weekends. It has been very boring but with time I try as much as possible to blend with everything and almost everyone around. The thing that's trending here is farming and hunting. So it's either you become a farmer or a hunter. It's somehow funny to me, because I only hear of this kind of things in story book, surprisingly it's happening right before my eyes.
I don't have any other option since I'll be here for sometime, so I just do myself some good by blending to how things are done here.
I cleared some space very close to the school compound so I can farm, I had cassava and yam. But the one I'll be sharing is my yam farm. I took a picture there today. After my students helped to clear it yesterday.
The farm has been a little bit bushy for sometime now due to the rainy season, so some of my students just volunteered to help me clear it yesterday before school opens. Every other teachers too has their farm, it's what I call bush allowance, or advantage of teaching in the bush.

Last year I also did some yam farm, but it was not good enough. The yam tubers were so small that one would think it's cassava mere seeing it from far, else you move close to it.
So this year, I tried as much as possible to make everything better this time, so it won't be the same story.
This farm means a lot to me as it's one of my investment. Who dare joke with his or her investment.
I made sure it's properly taken care of.
The whole thing is over 200 heaps, certainly not all the yam will survive but at least I should be able to get more than half of what I planted by God's grace.
Farming is a very good thing to venture into, if one should secure a good land and the right knowledge of how to go about agriculture, because it's not just about planting and leaving the plant to grow just like that, a lot of work still needs to be done. So it's better to learn how to practice agriculture too.
Note: All pictures were taken with my phone camera.
I hope the yam harvest will be in perfect condition. I would like to plant but my patio is concrete and I barely manage to grow some aromatic and flowering plants in pots. It's good that the students helped you clean up and it's good to have their support.
@sholex94,I like the red letters you put at the end of your post, some time ago someone gave me that command but it didn't work for me.
Yeah thanks, I also hope the yam harvest will be fine.
About the red letters, you can just change the link of my post to hiveblocks to see the command.
Thank you friend, happy day to you

And you are not doing badly with your own farming activities, nice that you go into this activities, it is so interesting to me, when I see people doing farming work.
It's good to know that you love farming.

You will go far in life my friend. You are working very hard and it is very difficult to live in the environment you are living in but still you are surviving it is a big thing.

It's a good thing you learnt to blend in well in the village and now, you are a proud owner of a big farm and few months from now, you'll be sending some yam tubers to me as your dearly loved friend 😀 😊
You can makegood money from that farm because it has so much potential. You don't even have to do the farming yourself, you could hire people to do it for you and soon, you'll be big.
Your pictures are so clear amd nice. Have a great weekend my dear
No problem about that, just send location 🤣
Yeah I hope so, I just hope everything turn out well.
Thanks so much my dear friend. Blessings ✌️

That's a great thing you've going on there, farming is a good investment and being in a place where there are enough land then I see no reason why one won't take the opportunity.
I wish you all the best.

I once enjoyed such privilege of "bush allowance" when I was the doctor in the hospital in the community I was posted to. I farmed rice, beans, corn, guinea corn and soya beans.
In rural areas, you should spend less
Hmm enjoyment doctor 😃😃
It's actually nice though and of course the cost of living is low compared to he city.
You're right
Wow, glad you are blending in already, I can imagine the transition, I can't imagine my city self blending in lol😂😂
Wishing you a bountiful harvest dear.
