I was never taught this skill. It's natural.

It's another beautiful week with the Hive Learners community and we are in the 27th week already. I am grateful that I got to know about this community when I joined, and I never regretted it. Thanks for the support always.

I was never wrong when I chose two skills I will never regret which are my passions; teaching and writing. Yes, I found them so natural in me and I feel it was the gift God gave to me while coming from heaven 😊

Many of us, have this inbuilt knowledge about something and it will and can never be difficult to understand, whereas some find it hard even if they learn about it. There is a difference between knowing something already and getting to learn and study before you understand it. Though the former, when it is being studied more, will understand more quickly than the latter.

I have had a natural thing with teaching since I was a child. I can remember when I was in Junior Secondary School and my two siblings were in a lower class, I asked my Dad if I could be taking them lessons because I just love to hold a cane and teach. Though I don't beat, just to scare 😎. He gladly accepted and was even giving me little money as compensation.

That made an Aunt in our compound got interested in me and used me as her assistant when she started taking home lessons.

How has teaching helped me so far?

Sincerely, having a natural thing for teaching while I was young made it so easy and simple to teach children. I know how to break down words into a simpler form and you will understand clearly. Apart from teaching, when I am explaining things to someone, I don't need to stress myself.

Scenarios where it has helped me.

Writing this, made me remember when I joined a private school after my mom's death, I took the kindergarten class and it was as easier for me. A colleague who took primary classes would always come to my class and asked how I found teaching so easy like this. I would smile and tell her, teaching is part of me. She finds it so difficult to explain things to her pupils and she only writes the note on the chalkboard and would send for me to come and explain to them.

She will watch me doing that with joy in me and before you know it, the pupils had understood me without raising my voice to make them understand.

Another one is that, many times I would be in my class, while her pupils will bring their notes for me to explain and will say they do not understand what Miss Peace (my colleague) explained to them. That made the children enjoy my moment in school.

There was a boy in my class (KG 2) that was supposed to be in Primary 2 because of his age. His parents transferred him to where I teach and I focused on him. The boy was promoted to primary 2 while I was still there when I taught him. Whenever his mom sees me, she will smile and appreciate my effort on her son because to her, she wasn't happy seeing her child in that class when he was supposed to be in a higher class.

Many scenarios that I can't keep talking about through which the talent of teaching has helped me teach kids to better understand in the best simplest form which made some people surprise seeing how I could teach so easily without an aisle.

Lastly, I can say through teaching, I developed an interest in writing and I never found it difficult with both. No one taught me how to teach or write, it was in me and it has helped me so far anywhere.

When people marvel at the way I teach and write, especially by making a note mere observing surroundings or people around me, they see it as magic because to them, they can never enjoy it because they do not know how to go about it.

A lady told me one day that I am trying with teaching that if she tries it, she will beat the hell out of the children because she doesn't know how to explain things in the best way to them. 😂😂

I don't beat children before they can understand me. I can only hold a cane as a way to scare them, but I can explain and break down words into smaller pieces for them to understand. This made the parents enjoy and appreciated me.

Thanks for your time.

A lot of teachers have failed because they believe cane is the only way to instill fear in the heart of their students.

I rarely beat but whenever I say it is okay, my students won't smile after. I tried to inculcate fun into teaching and it worked a lot. They are naturally born teachers and I would have pursued the dream if teaching is lucrative in the country.

The love of the job is not enough these days, how much the job has to offer me is important as well

How much is very important. You are right. This country has really downgraded the importance of teachers because they should be appreciated more. Who wouldn't avoid teaching with such little amount at the end of the day? If people have other choices, they wouldn't engage in it.

At least I have been in the classroom as a teacher for one year. From my experience, cane is not a good way to discipline the kids. There are different tactics that produces fast result👌

This is so true especially in our economy today. Teachers are not being compensated enough in Nigeria, I hope their salary can be reviewed for good so they can be motivated to give out their best 👌

Hahaha, This story of yours is very interesting.
Aunty that loves to hold cane.
However, that talent of yours is a great one as you could be a game changer with it.

If you have the gift of making something look easier for someone to understand, then I must say that you are a genius.
Keep doing what you love jare my dear friend.
I wish you all the best and also thanks for sharing with us.

Teacher Busayo 😁 it's very evident that you're a natural when it comes to teaching. From the way you write and explain things, it's a clear indication that you're a very talented teacher. Some people become teachers because they are just trying to survive and you can tell that they aren't good at it just from the way they teach.

You are right o
I remember a woman who stood on her ground that “Adamu” is categorized as a verb 🤣🤣🤣
Some people aren't into teaching for the fun or knowledge of it, they want to survive.

Those children can be funny. If you aren't strict with them in some ways, they will not want to learn but a little scaring will help. I love teaching. Thanks so much, friend 👏

It seems we both have similar talents. Teaching and writing come naturally to me. I dislike using the cane on children. Making pupils understand a particular topic requires both communicative and descriptive skills; not all teachers have those skills.

You are right. Teachers must be able to describe and use these methods; play, descriptive, demonstration methods and others for these kids. But not everyone has this skill at all and it makes teaching difficult for them.

Teaching is really a nice gift .. It's not everyone that knows how to teach especially when it comes to teaching children..

Me self will flog the hell out of the children if need be.. I can't imagine holding a cane just to scare them like you😂

Nice one dear!

Ah! Teaching is sweet ma, I enjoy teaching a lot but I use to have problem with it become I am very shy. I have seen gifted teachers , as their student you don't need to stress yourself before you learn, they make learning fun. I can't forget my chemistry teacher Mr. Shedrach, he made me loved chemistry. I am glad you are one of those special gifts God has given to man kind. I feel like saying thank to you on behalf of your students

When it comes to skill acquisition, some of these are inbuilt. Haha. The problem is that we never got an opportunity to try using those skills. But when you see a place that serves as an enabling environment, you will be surprised by the number of skills you have.

You are right. Environment really plays a big role in identifying something you are good at that you haven't yet known. But the day you will know, it will amaze you.

This is why I can't wait to move away from this toxic environment because I have noticed I need somewhere better than this. I might have other skills in me that I haven't yet recognized.

Exactly. The environment is important. having an enabling environment can even make someone you see as a dummy to turn out to be a very intelligent person.

I wish you the best as you hunt for a better environment ✌️

Very lovely, I have met someone (my boss) who knows how to really teach children and he said the breakdown style helps people read easily... but I for one I prefer not to hold a cane because I must use it... I'm not that patient when it comes to teaching. I understand things easily so I just put everyone in my shoes so if you don't meet my expectations I just flare up _ hope to work on it if possible, but you are amazing well done ✅

Hehehehe! Many people are like that. Thinking because they can understand things easily, others must too. That's not possible since we have different types of learners; the fast, average and slow learner. We can't be the same. This is why we need to understand those who aren't in our levels but to be patient in handling them.

They aren't difficult to recognize too. 😎😎
Thanks for taking your time to read from my blog.

So sorry about your mum's death.
There are teachers who are taught to be teachers and there born teachers that are naturally talented. I admire your talent @princessbusayo thanks for sharing.

Yes. We have many people who are gifted naturally. I have seen one who didn't learn how to make hair and she is so good and will even weave her own hair by herself. Thank you 😊

Teaching people is a noble profession, especially children. People don't realize that not only parents are part of children's lives, but teachers too. Both play an important role in a child's education. How he/she should behave, discovering his talents and his communication with other people of the society.

Amazing. We are a lot alike in this aspect. I always have that thing in me to be able to nurture a little one. Same thing with writing. I never took any course for it, I always just pour out what is inside of me.

You are a natural. Well done.

I can't tell you how excited I am to know that you were able to help that boy. I used to teach at some point and I could never get myself to flog them, I preferred to talk. Talking was way more effective than I thought.
