RE: Doctor Strange through the years

I've watched marvel as a kid growing up, especially the cartoons. I also watched DC and hundreds of others toons. But I never read a marvel comic book. I've read a little of DC, though. All the history and insight to characters I usually get it from movies and some cartoons and it usually seem enough for me; doesn't it feel enough for you too? Do you sometimes feel like you show consume more and get some more depth from other works?
At the same time, though, I think reading all these comics would be great fun.

The comics have masses of back story. From what I've seen some of that is in the movies as a treat for the fans. There is just so much that it's hard to know where to start. I keep an eye out for second hand books and comics to get part of the experience. That said, I think the movies and TV shows stand up on their own.
