Unravelling the creative process involved in designing a customised Birthday Card!!

Birthday Wishes through my designed card, my special way of wishing folks!!

At times, I try to wish people I know Happy Birthday through my designed card, with words composed out of some sort understanding of them. This is my way of conveying my regards for them and it generally always is a hit in making the Birthday person happy.

Of late, I am not able to design cards like before, perhaps it’s a kind of writers block and I struggled to create two birthday cards this week.

And one of the cards, did not echo with the birthday person because she was not going to celebrate her birthday, as this was her first birthday since her Dad passed away last year.

Even though that card did not click but I will discuss my logic in designing that Birthday card.

Words woven evaluating individual’s persona and life passions

One Birthday card was for my Sis-in-law, I have not seen her for years so it was hard for me to think of something that would excite her at such a day.

I know, she maintains a custom of making everyone celebrate their birthdays, so they enjoy their day and there is always a cake cutting, along with song singing. So, I felt she makes it a point that others enjoy their day, have some fun and experience happiness. So, that’s her sweet nature and I elaborated on that.

Other than that, she has little ones, who were very tiny so they never yet have sung Happy Birthday to parents and I wondered weather they would sing “Happy Birthday Mummy” this time being 2 and a half years old.

Well, that day when the little ones would confidently sing “Happy Birthday to Mummy or Daddy” should come soon I guess and obviously they would sound very cute for parents, however badly they sing. I elaborated at this point.

Here are the words for the card –

The day you celebrate for others staying with you has come,
Where you celebrate with the tradition of cutting a piece of sweet cake,
Always making efforts to ignite happiness at Birthdays through celebration!!

That’s a constant, but along with the sweet cake, there’s the little ones ,
Who would one day sing – “Happy Birthday Mummy.”
Wonder if that day has come, or it would be on another Birthday year…,

Still – Happy Birthday, weather you enjoy the cake, you deserve a Great Day!!
And the cake would be enjoyed by the little ones –
Yummy Day for them and Happy Birthday for you!!
Happy Birthday Nanda!!"

But here is my favorite part(: …

I formed the words for the card but the main dominant picture in the card was influenced by the theme of fun, happiness even in a careless silly way. I took the help of AI image generator on freepik and generated this image.

This was my second use of AI algorithm for performing any task and I was happy by the results. My first time use of this AI algorithm was just a day before for creating image for another Birthday card.

Card Color Background Logic

The colour scheme of the card was all based on the Minion image - Blue, White, Orange and Yellow. I highlighted words in the end inspired by the birthday candle flame with yellow words bordered by Orange.

I had arrived at the final card design after struggling adding different colours.

First Card Design

First time, I had light yellow background with words in red and maroon shades.

Second Card with improvements

I improvised on the card, incorporating Minion image colour – Blue, tried Black as well, light Blue and dark Blue. Along with that I put border on the card adding Bevel and Emboss effect, and outer glow effect.

I also added drop shadow on the Minion image. I also rotated the last three words, and highlighted them specially in yellow bordered by orange.

Third and final card complete with improvements

I added orange on some sentences, along with one kind of dark blue and light Blue shades for other sentences. Added some orange colour drop shadows to some words. On the whole the Birthday card was as bright and happy as the bright Minion chef himself(:

I have to mention that it took a while for me to finalise font style, I used two fonds on the card, and adjusted their appearance with regular, bold, italics, crisp, sharp, strong and smooth options.

Birthday Card did not work in cheering the Birthday person

My card failed in its purpose in making the birthday person feel super stoked but its alright, atleast I wished her with my own thoughtfully designed card, she appreciated the thought but expressed that she is in no mood for any celebration this year.

Well, I will elaborate on my second birthday card tomorrow, and I would like feedback on that so to improve it, for now farewell.
