Cambodia - Popular Street Food 🥘 - Food Cart Business🍦🍟
Hello everyone, What are the street food trends in your country/area? In Cambodia especially in my own town, street food is existing every where, many sellers sell them at street side, along the roads in busy shop areas, under the shade of trees, pitched tent, and pushcart stalls.
What to eat 🤔 - shake meatballs, chicken and fries 🍟
It’s a stall selling many different fry. Cambodian usually calls Wing Krolok. Krolok means shake, they shake after it’s already cooked. One street food that has become popular in recent years is the fries potato and France fries. There are several Of jar which putting all the ingredients for shaking. All of these ingredients are soup powder, chili powder, salt, cornstarch and sour mix powder to make it sour. We will see one plate for us to pick meatballs, chicken wings, chicken thigh France fries, and corns. After that the seller will fry it again to make it hot and shake it with all the ingredients in the jar. We can orders the exactly taste we want whether we want sour or more spicy.
Yummy meatballs tasted in pagoda 🥢
It’s one of the most popular snacks for most people as many people come to order non-stop especially, in the afternoon at this meatball bread cart (a cart on motorcycle). He need to fry beef meatballs, fish meatballs, chicken meatballs and hotdogs, and also place breads on fire to make it crispy. He need to cut bread in half, stuffed meatballs, add cucumber, green beans , spread chilly dipping sauce on top. It's meatballs bread or meatball stuffed bread with the price of whole baguette bread with meatballs is 1$ equal to 4000៛. A man selling some kind of meatballs really caught my attention and I decided to try it.
I pick something that I want and tell him to fry it then, he will cut the meatballs to a little and fries it.
You can tell the seller how much sauce you want. The special sauce with chili adding some slide cucumber and Khmer herbs as to make the taste good. People who came to visit pagoda are gathering around this man cart pick the meatball and then ask him to fry. Obviously, the meatballs tasted good just like I used to eat at somewhere near my school but the sauce is different, it totally better and more spicy.
Women sells ice-cream by walking a cart🌤
The weather this season is too hot. At 2pm, auntie is walking her ice-cream cart to her business location which is school nearby. A small business along the street I have noticed while driving on a motorbike, It’s not that easy to push the cart to a very long distance, that is such a hard job and appreciate. Obviously, ice-cream is the best selling street food in Cambodia due to the hot weather this season, we mostly see the ice-cream sellers in front of public school or private school where it is a great place for them to sell to students since this business is mostly depend on kids and teenagers.
Local coffee ☕️
Travelling to Cambodia, you will be immersed in a coffee culture that appears to have been there forever. From Phnom Penh city to the small towns, coffee is more than just a drink, it's a way of life. There are many coffee brand in Cambodia while street coffee is still popular and getting attention, it is not wasting too much time, just stop our vehicles, ordering and we can get our drink. People really enjoy coffee, you will see that more and more costumes come to coffee shop in the morning rather than the afternoon since it’s a time when they go to work, then coffee makes them feel better and even improve their work too. Each cup of black coffee is the commonly one it will share with you each story of Cambodia. Your amazing morning rush should be relieved by coffee smell.
It's interesting to see different kinds of street food across SEA. The meatball bread cart gentleman seems to be selling something similar we have here that is called "yong tau fu".
“yong tau fu”, sure!! Really similar to what I have here and even the sauce too. We usually see the red sauce while eating meatballs. “yong tau fu” is seems to be more organized and pretty design. Thanks for sharing my dear!
The black sauce is sweet soy sauce. You can either mix it with chili sauce or eat it with sweet sauce. I like it with chili though :)
Street food is hygienic, not inferior to the food in the store, that's why they sell out.
Yay! 🤗

The street food looks very tasty. I love a good coffee too. Can't beat a coffee hit to get you moving in the mornings.
Of course my dear I usually choose the street food one. Moring with coffee is amazing. This is what I call a perfect morning. After 2 espressos I don’t really need more caffeine during the day, but if a friend offers to get a cup of coffee and chitchat I will never say no.
Hi hi.. Mich.. wow.. first of all, you are a great photographer.. Your pictures capture beautiful moments in Cambodia. =) The food looks awesome.. I would definitely go for the Cambodian coffeee..... =)

One of these days I’ll make it over to Cambodia! A good friend of mine growing up was Cambodian so I am familiar with the food and culture. Getting food from street vendors is nice!
