Un cordial saludo a todos los que forman parte y participan activamente en esta comunidad. Estoy muy emocionada y feliz de unirme a ustedes, a través de la participación en el Concurso #155 con la interrogante:

2️⃣ El cáncer de mama y de útero es una gran preocupación para nosotras las mujeres y se han convertido en afecciones de salud muy comunes. ¿Cuáles son las medidas de autocuidado que está tomando para garantizar que su salud esté en su nivel óptimo? ¿Con qué frecuencia se realiza su chequeo médico y cuáles son las rutinas de cuidado personal que sigue en el día a día?



¡Amar, es cuidar de mí!

Comienzo esta disertación reflexiva compartiendo una frase célebre, del filósofo Arthur Schopenhauer: "La salud no lo es todo, pero sin ella todo lo demás es nada". Esta expresión, con hondura, trastoca mis sentidos, porque reitera, acentúa y hace en su llamado de atención, una alerta, al afirmar que la salud es solo una, que es trascendental y significativa en mi existencia, que es integral y holística, porque está presente en todos los espacios de mi condición humana.

Es también un reproche a mis acciones, al hacerme pensar y repensar mis actuaciones. Acorrala y juzga con propiedad mi ligereza, con la que a veces descuido y menosprecio mi salud, restando atención e importancia a su valor. Considerando su importancia, sólo en los momentos en que se ve mermada o perdida. Hay mucho que cavilar y tomar conciencia. Soy yo la responsable de estar saludable, está en mis quehaceres, lograr los cambios necesarios y darle el valor adecuado al autocuidado.

Desde muy temprana edad, el cáncer y yo hemos tenido una estrecha relación. He tenido que enfrentarme a él en varias ocasiones, en diferentes ámbitos de mi vida. Ha sido frecuente en mi familia, en sus diferentes variantes, por lo que he tenido que entender su comportamiento y hacer frente a su presencia, siendo cuidadora. Al mismo tiempo, en mis amigos, siendo un apoyo emocional y en el ámbito profesional en el ejercicio de la medicina, con mis pacientes.

A menudo me he cuestionado por su génesis. Interpelaciones han ido y venido, buscando respuestas a la multiplicación desenfrenada y enloquecida de células anormales, extendiéndose de forma desordenada. Sigo esperando respuestas. Surgen teorías, pero hasta la fecha no hay pruebas científicas convincentes.

Sin embargo, las noticias y los resultados en pacientes con estas afecciones son alentadores. Nuestra medicina ha demostrado que es posible reducir su riesgo. ¿Cómo? Con autocuidados preventivos, prestando atención a los factores de riesgo modificables, adoptando estilos de vida saludables, junto con revisiones médicas periódicas que permitan la detección precoz. Dialogemos un poco de ello.



En la actualidad, la promoción de la salud, basada en la defensa de estilos de vida saludables (alimentación equilibrada, actividad física, reducción del consumo de alcohol, no fumar, etc.), se refuerza con una amplia y exhaustiva difusión comunicacional. A pesar de ello, paradójicamente, las estadísticas de enfermedades asociadas a conductas de riesgo, nada saludables, entre ellas el cáncer, van en aumento. Quizás sea porque falta motivación y compromiso con el autocuidado.

Cada uno de nosotros es un conglomerado de elementos que confluyen y convergen exquisitamente, con un gran potencial energético que fluye y vive en un cuerpo. Debemos aprender a conocernos y reconocernos, a identificar nuestra anatomía, para poder practicar la prevención e identificar las señales y manifestaciones que nuestro cuerpo emite, muchas veces a través de signos y síntomas, que si los ignoramos, podrían convertirse en enfermedades.

En nuestra vida cotidiana todos, sin excepción, luchamos día a día con tensiones emocionales, estrés y disgustos de diversa índole. Pero todas estas emociones negativas deben liberarse, superarse y no acumularse. Si no lo hacemos, nuestra psique, anhelante de equilibrio, podría derramarse sobre nuestro organismo y generar patologías psicosomáticas, así como abonar el terreno para el cáncer. Adoptar medidas saludables, a través de actitudes y comportamientos (estilos de vida) es beneficioso para nuestra salud de forma integral y holística.

Dedico especial énfasis a la salud emocional, muchas veces olvidada y desatendida. La mimo y acaricio constantemente, con acciones llenas de alegría, y si es en compañía, mucho mejor. Siempre busco excusas para reír e intento divertirme. Disfruto la música, las melodías activan mis neuronas maravillosamente. Me halago asiduamente dándome mucho cariño, aceptándome tal y como soy, pero siempre teniendo en cuenta el firme propósito de mejorar. Me gusta dar y recibir abrazos cariñosos, la energía y dopamina que se libera es increíble. Suelo repartir palabras mágicas con mi familia, amigos, conocidos y pacientes: "Te quiero", "Te necesito", "Hagámoslo juntos", "Qué bien estás", "Felicidades, lo has conseguido, sigue así", "Mis mejores deseos para ti", "Te lo agradezco", "Aprecio lo que haces", "Siempre estaré aquí para ti", por citar algunos cumplidos.

Por otro lado, no debemos subestimar las evaluaciones médicas periódicas. Nos darán seguridad y ante cualquier eventualidad se podrá detectar a tiempo. Acudamos periódicamente a las evaluaciones especializadas. Yo lo hago cada seis meses, el médico será tu apoyo y guía, tu guardián de la salud.

Mi cercanía al cáncer me ha dejado experiencias llenas de enseñanzas y lecciones de vida que me recuerdan una y otra vez lo humana e imperfecta que soy. Si en algún momento el cáncer entra en tu vida, o en la de tu familia, o en la de tus amigos, no te desanimes. Nunca permitas que la tristeza, la desolación y la desesperación te invadan. Busca ayuda y apoyo inmediatamente, nadie está completamente solo en esta existencia. Ten en cuenta que siempre habrá manos dispuestas a apoyarte ¡Amar es cuidar de tí!

2️⃣ Breast and Uterine Cancer is a big concern for us women and they have become very common health conditions. What are the self-care measures that you are taking to ensure that your health is at its optimal level? How often do you get your medical checkup done, and what are the day-to-day, self-care routines you follow?

To love is to take care of me!

I begin this reflective dissertation by sharing a famous phrase of the philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer: "Health is not everything, but without it everything else is nothing." This expression, with depth, upsets my senses, because it reiterates, accentuates, and makes in its call of attention, an alert by stating that health is one, that it is transcendental and significant in my existence, that it is integral and holistic, because it is present in all the spaces of my human condition.

It is also a reproach to my actions, to make me think and rethink my performances. It corners and judges with propriety my lightness, with which I sometimes neglect and disregard my health, taking away attention and importance to its value. Considering its importance, only in the moments when it is diminished or lost. There is much to rethink and become aware of. I am responsible for being healthy, it is in my tasks to achieve the necessary changes and give the proper value to self-care.

From a very early age, cancer and I have had a close relationship. I have had to encounter it on several occasions, in different areas of my life. It has been frequent in my family, in its different variants, so I have had to understand its behavior and cope with its presence, being a caregiver. At the same time, in my friends, being an emotional support and in the professional field in the practice of medicine, with my patients.

I have often wondered about its genesis. Interpellations have come and gone, seeking answers to the unbridled and crazed multiplication of abnormal cells, spreading in a disorderly manner. I am still waiting for answers. Theories emerge, but to date, there is no convincing scientific proof.

However, the news and results in patients with these conditions are encouraging. Our medicine has shown that it is possible to reduce their risk. How? With preventive self-care, paying attention to modifiable risk factors, adopting healthy lifestyles, along with periodic medical check-ups that allow early detection. Let's talk a little about it.



At present, the promotion of health, based on the defense of healthy lifestyles (balanced diet, physical activity, reduction of alcohol consumption, no smoking, etc.), is strengthened with a wide and exhaustive communicational diffusion. Despite this, paradoxically, the statistics of diseases associated with risky behaviors, which are not healthy at all, including cancer, are increasing. Perhaps it is because there is a lack of motivation and commitment to self-care.

Each one of us is a conglomerate of elements that converge and converge exquisitely, with a great energetic potential that flows and lives in a body. We must learn to know and recognize ourselves, to identify our anatomy, to be able to practice prevention, and to identify the signals and manifestations that our body emits, often through signs and symptoms, which if we ignore them, could become diseases.

In our daily lives we all, without exception, battle day by day with emotional tensions, stress, and displeasure of various kinds. But all these negative emotions must be released, overcome, and not accumulate. If we do not do so, our psyche, longing for balance, could spill over into our organism and generate psychosomatic pathologies, as well as fertilize the ground for cancer. Adopting healthy measures, through attitudes and behaviors (lifestyles) is beneficial for our health integrally and holistically.

I dedicate special emphasis to emotional health, often forgotten, neglected, and neglected. I pamper and caress it constantly, with actions full of joy, and if it is in company, so much the better. I always look for excuses to laugh and try to have fun. I enjoy music, the melodies activate my neurons wonderfully. I flatter myself assiduously, giving myself a lot of love, accepting myself as I am, but always considering the firm intention to improve. I like to give and receive affectionate hugs, the energy and dopamine that is released is incredible. I frequently hand out magic words with my family, friends, acquaintances, and patients: "I love you", "I need you", "Let's do it together", "How great you look", "Congratulations, you made it, keep it up", "Best wishes to you", "I appreciate it", "I appreciate what you do", "I will always be here for you", just to name a few compliments.

On the other hand, we should not underestimate periodic medical evaluations. They will give us security and in case of any eventuality, it can be detected in time. Let's go periodically for specialized assessments. I do it every six months, the doctor will be your support and guide, your health guardian.

My closeness to cancer has left me with experiences full of teachings and life lessons that remind me again and again how human and imperfect I am. If at any time cancer enters your life, or the lives of your family, or the lives of your friends, do not be discouraged. Never allow sadness, desolation, and despair to invade you. Seek help and support immediately, no one is completely alone in this existence. Keep in mind that there will always be willing hands to support you. To love is to take care of you!

When we have to deal with people around us suffering from various illnesses then that teaches us a lot about our own health care. Each of these tips that you have shared are very important in maintaining a holistic health. Mental health plays a very big role and I always say that one must never shy off to take help if needed
