A delicious stop on the Vedado route [en/es]

Yesterday, after getting ahead on the day's tasks, I headed out with my nephew to 23rd Avenue. I had to make some inquiries at the airline ticket office located at the end of that same street. After running my errand, with that typical tingling in my stomach that tells me it's time to eat something, a café across the street caught my eye. I hadn't seen it before. I was surprised because I remembered that there, on that same spot, years ago there was an ice cream shop named Bim Bom, one of those that once existed all over the city. Today, the place has been transformed into a private business with a name that perfectly reflects it: "Buenísimo."

Ayer, después de adelantar las tareas del día, salí con mi sobrino hacia la Avenida 23. Tuve que hacer algunas averiguaciones en la taquilla de vuelos que está al final de esa misma calle. Después de hacer mi recado, con ese típico cosquilleo en el estómago que me dice que es hora de comer algo, me llamó la atención una cafetería al otro lado de la calle. No la había visto antes. Me sorprendió porque recordé que allí, en ese mismo lugar, hace años había una heladería llamada Bim Bom, de esas que alguna vez hubo por toda la ciudad. Hoy, el lugar se ha transformado en un negocio privado con un nombre que lo refleja a la perfección: "Buenísimo".

And I can confidently say that everything there was, indeed, delicious! From the service and the atmosphere to the product offering. The space immediately captivated me with its freshness. There was a tasty variety of ice creams, and I decided to try something different, but with a common thread: mascarpone, yogurt, and lemon. My nephew, on the other hand, preferred strong contrasts: berries with lemon. But before dessert, we opted for a burger each, accompanied by soft drinks. I ordered a melon juice that was as fresh as the restaurant's air conditioning.

Y puedo decir con seguridad que todo allí estaba, ¡de verdad, delicioso! Desde el servicio y el ambiente hasta la oferta de productos. El espacio me cautivó de inmediato con su frescura. Había una deliciosa variedad de helados, y decidí probar algo diferente, pero con un denominador común: mascarpone, yogur y limón. Mi sobrino, en cambio, prefería los contrastes fuertes: frutos rojos con limón. Pero antes del postre, optamos por una hamburguesa cada uno, acompañada de refrescos. Pedí un zumo de melón tan fresco como el aire acondicionado del restaurante.

We sat at a small table in the cozy, air-conditioned, and simply decorated living room. In one corner, a completely black wall served as a backdrop for a cheerful composition of smiley emojis in different colors and sizes, giving a playful air without disrupting the harmony of the surroundings. Music played softly, just enough to provide a rhythm without interfering with the conversation.

Nos sentamos en una pequeña mesa en la acogedora sala de estar, con aire acondicionado y decoración sencilla. En un rincón, una pared completamente negra servía de fondo para una alegre composición de emojis sonrientes de diferentes colores y tamaños, creando un ambiente lúdico sin perturbar la armonía del entorno. La música sonaba suave, lo justo para marcar el ritmo sin interrumpir la conversación.

It was a delicious snack, a comforting break that could easily be called lunch, because after that, I didn't need anything else. The establishment also has an outdoor area with tables offering a delightful view of the sea. And right outside, there are two food carts that offer a wide range of options: one specializing in ice cream cones and sweets, and the other in sandwiches and cold drinks.

Fue un refrigerio delicioso, un descanso reconfortante que fácilmente podría llamarse almuerzo, porque después no necesité nada más. El establecimiento también cuenta con una zona al aire libre con mesas que ofrecen una encantadora vista al mar. Y justo afuera, hay dos puestos de comida con una amplia variedad de opciones, uno especializado en helados y dulces, y el otro en sándwiches y bebidas frías.

Between both carts there is even a hardware store that, although I could only observe from the outside (because my nephew was already rushed by work time), completed that peculiar corner of Vedado, becoming a place where it is a pleasure and a joy to have a snack, spend time with family or friends, but also where you can get useful items for the home.*

Entre ambos carritos hay incluso una ferretería que, aunque sólo pude observar desde afuera (porque mi sobrino ya estaba apurado por el tiempo de trabajo), completó ese peculiar rincón del Vedado, convirtiéndose en un lugar donde es un placer y una alegría tomar una merienda, pasar tiempo en familia o con amigos, pero también donde se pueden conseguir artículos útiles para el hogar.

It was a nice break from the heat and bustle of the day, especially on a day when I needed to pamper myself, as it was an important time for me, marked by longing for my son. Fue un buen descanso del calor y el bullicio del día, especialmente en un día que necesitaba consentirme, ya que era un momento importante para mí, marcado por la añoranza de mi hijo.
