Hat cutting and sewing for the first time (ENG/ESP)
Hello dear friends, Blessed Monday of needles, I hope that this beginning of the week will be of much benefit to all of you.
Today I feel immensely excited with my new sewing project, I tell you that it is the first time I make a hat.
Motivated by my last niece, who is about to turn one year old and may God take good care of her, I started thinking about the things I was going to give her, I remembered that in my family every time a girl is born, my mom is inspired to make her knitted hats and booties, but so far, my mom has not been able to knit more, because my mom has been suffering from pain in the joints of her arms, so I have taken this sweet task, to make a hat for my niece, I will give them a surprise with this hat that I made for my little niece, I am sure that my mom will be happy, that I am one of her fans and I am following her customs, it is very exciting, I know that everyone at home will be happy with this cute detail.
It is not knitted, like the ones my mother makes, but they will love everything, the color, the design, and they will be surprised with my advances in sewing.

Hoy me siento inmensamente emocionada con mi nuevo proyecto de costura, les comento que es la primera vez que confecciono un sombrero.
Motivada con mi última sobrina, que está próxima a cumplir un año y que Dios me la cuide mucho, me puse a pensar en las cosas que le iba a regalar, en eso recordé que en mi familia cada vez que nace una niña, mi mama se inspira en hacerle sombreros tejidos y escarpines, pero hasta los momentos, mi mama no ha podido tejer más, debido a que mi mamá ha estado sufriendo de dolores en las articulaciones de los brazos, así que me he tomado esta tarea tan dulce, para hacerle el sombrero a mi sobrina, les daré una sorpresa con este sombrero que le hice a mi pequeña sobrina, estoy segura de que mi mamá se pondrá feliz, de que yo sea una de sus admiradoras y este siguiendo sus costumbres, es muy emocionante, sé que todos en casa van a estar felices con este detalle tan lindo.
No es tejido, como los que hace mi madre, pero les va a encantar todo, el color, el diseño, y se van a sorprender con mis avances en la costura.

To start making this hat, I chose some materials that without thinking were the most appropriate, among my bags of recycled clothes I got a skirt that my neighbor had given me last year, on one of my birthdays, I almost did not use it because it was too tight, I thought of giving it another use, I already had it unpicked and divided into parts, so today was one of those moments of inspiration to give a new use to this skirt, which I loved for that nice color and for being a special detail of my neighbor.
I loved the fabric of the skirt for this work is like thin jeans, it keeps the shape of the garments which helped me to make the hat, I could not imagine what I could achieve, another of the materials I used was fabric for the lining, the lining fabric is a fabric used to give volume to the dresses is rigid and keeps a beautiful shape along with the upper fabric.
For the decoration I used Vicky fabric, a button that I lined with fabric, and a strawberry applique.
Para empezar a elaborar este sombrero, elegí unos materiales que sin pensarlo fueron los más adecuados, entre mis bolsas de ropa reciclada conseguí una falda que me había regala mi vecina el año pasado, en uno de mis cumpleaños, casi no use porque me quedo muy ajustada, pensé en darle otro uso, ya la tenía descosida y divido en partes, así que hoy fue uno de esos momentos de inspiración para darle un nuevo uso a esta falda, que me encantaba por ese color tan lindo y por ser un detalle especial de mi vecina.
Me encanto a tela de la falda para este trabajo es como de jeans delgado, mantiene la forma de las prendas lo que me favoreció para hacer el sombrero, no imagine lo que podía lograr, otro de los materiales que utilice fue tela para el forro, la tela para forro es una tela que utilizan para darle volumen a los vestidos es rígida y mantiene una forma preciosa junto con la tela superior.
Para la decoración utilicé tela de Vicky, un botón que forre con tela, y un aplique de fresita.

One of the things I have also been practicing is the elaboration of patterns, I made this pattern with ingenious measures, without a guide, but seeing how some hats are and the way they are cut, I figured that with a bell cut it could work and it did.
I used a ruler and placed measurements, these I did after I had made the pattern drawing, to check the results.
The next thing I did with the key piece, pattern, was to make the cuts, I placed the pattern piece on the fabric, drew the shape and cut 4 pieces.
Una de las cosas que también he ido practicando es la elaboración de patrones, este patrón lo hice con medidas ingeniosas, sin una, guía, pero viendo como son algunos sombreros y la forma de corte que llevan, me supuse que con un corte campana podía funcionar y así fue.
Utilice una regla y coloque medidas, estas las hice después que había realizado el dibujo del patrón, para comprobar resultados.
Lo siguiente que hice con la pieza clave, patrón, fue hacer los cortes, coloque la pieza patrón sobre la tela, dibuje la forma y corte 4 piezas.

Lleve una de las piezas ya cortadas la posicione sobre la tela de forro dibuje con el lápiz, y corte 4 piezas, en total fueron 4 piezas de color rosado, y 4 piezas de color blanco, con estas piezas hice la parte externa e interna del sombrero, lo siguiente fue unir las piezas con alfileres para coser en la máquina.

I sewed the 4 outer pieces with double straight stitching, turned it over to see how it was coming out, and continued working with the white lining.
Cosí las 4 piezas externas con doble costura recta, le di la vuelta para ver como me estaba quedando, y continúe trabajando con el forro de color blanco.

After sewing the lining pieces together, I sewed the pieces right side together, pinned all around the edge of the wrong side, sewed all the way around the circumference, leaving an opening of approximately 5 cm to turn right side out.
Después de coser las piezas del forro uni las partes por el lado derecho, coloqué alfileres por toda la orilla del lado revés, cosí todo el contorno de la circunferencia, dejando una abertura de aproximadamente 5 cm para voltear al derecho.

And to embellish this beautiful hat, pink guava, I made some bows with 2 rectangles, I joined in the center the rectangles passing between fabrics 2 cm in the center, I sewed horizontally, and through the opening that I left in the back center, I turned it right side up, I also made a green Vicky ribbon, for the contour of the hat.
Y para embellecer este precioso sombrero, rosada guayaba, hice unos lazos con 2 rectángulos, uni en el centro los rectángulos pasando entre telas 2 cm en el centro, cosí horizontal, y por la abertura que deje en el centro posterior, le di la vuelta al derecho, también hice una cinta de Vicky de color verde, para el contorno del sombrero.
