Geez, reminds me the proverb "The road to hell is paved with good intentions," The chief tried to solve a problem and only got martyred for it. It doesn't sound like in this legend that the other learned a lesson from this, like perhaps becoming more peaceful or something like that.
At first I was thinking there was going to be a jeepney legend involving an American soldier or something, haha, but that was just a bonus to the already awesome challenge entry.

The jeepney story was just a Segway just so the post can achieve the desired number of words. I was thinking it would not reach 300 words or more if I would right away tell the legend behind the statue in the heart of our city.... The head of the beheaded chieftain or the Ulo (head) ng (of the) Apo (chieftain) which if you put the words together it would make the word Ulongapo. Then eventually changing the "U" to "O" because the first settlers here were the Aeta tribes before the Spanish arrived in 1884.
But even if the Spanish settled in our city they still named the place Olongapo because of the legend.
I guess they respected the aeta tribes...
