NEEDLEWORK Your Jewelry Contest || A Gift for My Mom

Everyone was excited when @crosheille posted a contest in Needleworkmonday community wherein everyone is invited to needlework any jewelry that they could give to their mother, mother in law, sister or any mother they treasure. I was excited too when I learned about the contest though I was afraid I couldn't make it on time since I still have other mto's to finish on time.

But as the saying says,

"If there's a will, there's a way".

So before the contest will end, and was able to finish few sets of crochet wearables, I finally made up my mind what kind of jewelry ill be working. I was thinking that a lot will think of making earrings and and I'm planning to make something different. I was been sharing here long time ago, on how to make some crocheted earrings and that's overrated already.

Looking on the materials I have on my stash where I have lots of small plastic loops of 3 different sizes, the smallest is about an inch in diameter and the biggest is almost 2inches in diameter. I've been using this loops when making crocheted earrings and decided to use them again, to make a necklace. I think it will be my 1st time making a crocheted necklace and be able to share here on how I will make it.

The first person that comes up in my mind, to whom ill be given this jewelry in honoring all the mothers this coming mother's day, is my own mother. She is now 53 years old and still working as a seamstress on her own shop in our hometown. She loves hearing her customers compliment and take that as her energizer/vitamins to continue doing her hobby that turned I could describe her as a strong woman for enduring all the hardships in life that I had witnessed while I'm growing. She's the kind of person where she can't just sit or relax for a moment without doing something. She loves taking care of her plants, and very dear to all her grandchildren. I could say that I'm very blessed of having her as my mom, that if I could choose my parents in the next life, I will surely choose them again. She likes to wear jewelry also, but I don't know if she will like wearing this kind of necklace. But no matter what, I'm still giving it to her anyway.

So I collected the materials that ill be needing. The plastic loops, crochet hook in small size about 2mm, scissor, some small metal rings, pliers (long nose) and the set of color yarns that I used in my last mto, where I fall in love with the color combination.

So here's how to do it folks.
To begin with, I get a plastic loop, single crochet all over the ring by one color, but notice that the output if using the 2mm crochet hook isn't good, and that I have to use the smaller one which is 1.5mm. The outcome was neat so I continued. I change another color on the 2nd and 3rd layer and decided to use the black color on the last layer of every plastic loops. I didn't used the same color pattern but the black one was the last color of every loops.

After that, I used the small metal rings (jumpring) to attach all the plastic loops and put 2 pieces on every connection. Then I made two chains on every both ends and tied them.

I loved the outcome and the color combination of the necklace. I spend the whole afternoon doing the whole thing and it was a great feeling and experience. I'm excited to visit home next week and be able to give this one to my mom. Hoping she will like it the way I did.

So this is my entry of the contests, Needlework your jewelry here in Needleworkmonday community. Thank you @crosheille for organizing this kind of contest and good luck to all the participants. 🥰

Love lots,
@jonalyn2020
