Toblerone Brownie Became Cookies

This blog was drafted last week. Mind that I never touched our kitchen yet. Maybe after the funeral.

For today, I'll share with you this recipe I made when one afternoon, I craved brownies. That was after reading @jelenaa's food blog about the first brownie she made.

It was siesta time, so I opted to cook something that I'd pair with my tea. I went to the store selling chocolates and bought a piece of Toblerone that I'd use for the brownie. I wanted to try it since I never made one.

Moreover, I have ingredients at home that are expiring soon. So why not use them, rather than waste them later? The cinnamon and butter were some of those that'll expire this year, so I thought of using them in this recipe. Other ingredients include eggs, flour, and sugar. I have no vanilla but this recipe is supposed to have. So if you want to try this recipe, use vanilla.

You might wonder about the title, Brownies Became Cookies. As far as you guys are aware, I am a trying-hard chef who has many failed cooking attempts, lol. This was one of those based on the title. But if you are curious about what happened, then continue reading this.

Following Jelena's post, I gathered the ingredients and started the preparation. I melted the butter in a small pot, beat two eggs, and mixed both.

Afterward, I added sugar and squeezed some lime. It wasn't part of the ingredients, but I added it because I love the scent of lime when mixed with butter.

I wasn't sure if Toblerone was fine for making brownies. I was expecting a harder one so that I could taste the chunks of chocolates in every bite. The Toblerone was softer, I should have bought a harder one. I melted some chunks of chocolates, then saved some for later use.

After melting the chocolates, I added it to the egg and butter mixture, followed by the cinnamon. Beat the mixture until all ingredients are well combined.

Then add some flour. Since I have no regular I just used the corn flour. I wasn't even sure if it was okay to use or not. Then lastly, I added the remaining chunks of chocolate. I wanted to taste the chunks after baking. But the chocolate eventually melted, lol.

I just followed the instructions in Jelena's post. I baked the batter at 180° for 25 minutes. I thought everything would be as if I just followed all the steps. The scent of cinnamon and chocolate lingered in the air which made me excited to taste my first brownie. Unfortunately, upon checking the oven, it seemed like I didn't do it well again. It didn't look like a brownie, but rather a bread.

One thing I don't like when baking is our oven. It's too small that sometimes burns and hardens the food instead of baking it well. As expected, the result wasn't nice. Some parts were burnt, and the outer side was hard.

However, given the ingredients, I knew it wouldn't taste bad at all. And I was right. It may be hard from the outside, but it was soft from the inside. And I loved the chocolate flavor. It didn't taste like a brownie, but a cookie that was soft inside.

Because of this failed cooking, a new recipe was discovered. The delicious flavor of chocolate and cinnamon tasted in every bite and I can't keep eating more. It was perfect for my matcha tea and I had a wonderful siesta.

I consumed half of the baked Toblerone delight, and saved the other half the next day. Surprisingly, the chilled one even tasted better.

I can say after making brownies a few times the corners can get hard. The end pieces for someone who likes crunchy brownies, hehe The inner pieces for me :) Ovens always throw me off too, it's like each do different things even though the time/temperature are the same. I got a new oven two years ago and it took some time to get use to it. Pan size makes a difference as well. Oh btw I've only made them from the pre-made boxes, lol. You got me hungry for them now and maybe even some fudge 🤔

They didn't turn out like brownies, but they look delicious. I like it when cookies are crunchy and soft in the center.

I hope that despite the sadness, you are enjoying time with your family.

That looks delicious @jane1289, even though it looks like cookies. And it comes perfect with the tea.
It seems to be that you're a talented cook. 🥸

But it didn't fail, on the contrary, it turned out better than mine because inside is exactly as it should be, and mine was not so soft! 😊Toblerone contains honey and doesn't melt easily, a better choice is dark chocolate, but I love Toblerone and the taste must be fantastic! Well done Jane! 🤗🥰
