Cruise Ship In The Middle Of Whampoa and Samgyupsal

Saturday night, on the 1st day of April, the Chinese family and I visited Whampoa again after a few years. I couldn't remember the last time I roamed around this place with my boss' family. It was probably during the pre-pandemic.

Whampoa is a city in Hung Hom that is notable for commercial outlets, and an array of different Western and Asian restaurants and food stalls. But the most notable attraction in this city is the cruise ship in the middle of the city, the Whampoa Garden.

Whampoa was formerly a dockyard and the main reason why a signature cruise ship building was built in the heart of this place. This cruise ship is now a shopping arcade and leisure center, and of course, some residential flats can be found here as well.

But that night, our intention of visiting the place wasn't to shop in this cruise ship mall but to dine in a Korean BBQ restaurant again after a few years. We visited Han Cook BBQ, a Korean restaurant serving typical Korean cuisine. The best part of this restaurant is eating fresh BBQ grilled right on the table served with Korean side dishes.

If my memory serves me right, I visited the place for the third time already. The first was in 2017 with the Chinese family followed by 2019 with the same family and some visitors from Canada. The purpose of visiting the place is to celebrate the birthday of my female boss. It was a pre-celebration as her birthday happened on the 2nd day of the month.

There are different food packages for customers who come solo or in a group. The prices vary as well depending on the group size. Mind me, prices aren't affordable for an ordinary worker like me 🤣. I need a huge group to enable me to dine in here and savor Korean cuisine.

Our package consisted of two different plates of beef meats, and a plate of pork meat and both were served along with some uncooked purple yam on top. They were served with Korean side dishes such as bean sprouts, spinach, eggplant, and some Korean BBQ sauces. The lettuce was used to wrap the grilled BBQ with some side dishes which is a typical way of eating Korean BBQ or samgyupsal.

I must say that all foods were great and this shop is highly recommended for those looking for Korean samgyupsal in Hong Kong. My favorite part was the last dish which was a chicken soup served in a clay pot. It reminded me of chicken tinola in our country. The soda drinks were free, and we can even take out some if we want to. You probably noticed limited photos here. The samgyupsal food trip shortly started after placing orders on the table, lol.

If I will rate this restaurant, I would give a perfect 10 for its nice food, nice setting, and cordial staff. Aside from Korean restaurants, there are other Asian restaurants and food stalls on this street as well. I went back home that night with a full and satisfied tummy.
