To protect us, they lie sometimes.

Children are clean slates that get written on, and the fun fact is that their innocence makes them believe most of, if not all of the things they are told by adults, because they see adults as mini god, they obviously can't be wrong, so we believe everything told to us, especially when it comes from our parent, particularly our mom, our primary source of information and care. I remember always watching an interesting advert of lady care sanitary pads as a little girl, it was one of my favorites advert growing up as it was always filled with young girls singing and dancing step, step 8 hours long, no stain no check but no matter how hard I tried, I never really understood what they were advertising and what it was used for, I would always ask my mum or aunt and they will end up telling me when I reach there, I will cross the bridge, meaning when I need to know I would. Of course, I wasn't satisfied with such an answer, and just went for, the stuff probably gave the girls the grace to dance well. My mum and aunt probably weren't using theirs well, the reason why they couldn't step like the girls in the advert. I promised to get one myself mine, only if my personal bank 🏧, that is my mum, could dispense my little savings of visitor's tips, but alas! All the food, clothes, school fees, books, etc I had were apparently supported by my savings, according to my mum. I felt poor and used, but there was nothing much I could do, after all, I enjoyed everything she listed, did that stop me from saving with her, No, not until I became wiser and my own financial adviser lol 😂.

The Lie

As a young child, I was always curious, and one of my questions was how my mum got pregnant with my baby sister in her womb, was it after the morsel she likes eating (EBA and fufu)she answered me "yes", lol, after my sister was born, I remember feeling she was the most beautiful creature I had set eyes on, so adorable I cried and wanted another baby. Those days, it was a herculean task for me to finish my meals, I preferred rice, sweets, and biscuit to eba or fufu, so my mum used that trick on me, that If I wanted another baby, I had to start eating eba very well, naive me accepted, and became serious eating eba and fufu very well, but my big stomach reduced every time I used the toilet, I started doubting her claim but in few years my mum became pregnant again, my happiness knew no bound, I love babies like that.

CONCLUSION

All that was rectified some years later thanks to my few bad friends who caught on to the real idea of how people get pregnant early, and my biology teacher's detailed explanation with my full attention in class, did the rest. I became well knowledgeable on the whole fact surrounding getting pregnant and the weird reason Mum couldn't tell me was just a form of protection, I was too young to know I guess, as for the sanitary pads, I got to know what they were used for too still from the same sources before my actual usage. My mum only sat me down to discuss sex education and puberty after I had gotten enough hints from my sources, but her detailed explanation still made me grow up as a respected and responsible lady.

😂. You must have eaten Eba a lot while growing up.
More like a cheat code for your Mom.
I remember the advert too, Always sanitary pads. Watching the ads made me vow to use it when I crossed that bridge and when I eventually did cross it, I ended up not liking it. 😂
I haven't used Always since then.

If it were to be the western world, your mom would have told you how a pregnancy is being developed but trust Africans 😎.

Nice write-up👌

True. I remember one of my siblings and even when I was a kid. My sibling asked my mother how she gave birth to her. And, of course, my mother thought she was released through the anus, which I also thought when I was younger. I asked my mom why she lied, and she said there was always a perfect timing to tell them the truth. A bit puzzled, but now I got it!

I remember that sanitary pad advert where the school girls were just dancing all around😅. I wasn't so curious to know what they were dancing for.

And the eba and fufu part, 😅😅. You must have eaten a lot of it so that your mom would get pregnant again, if only you knew😅.

Our parents really scammed us with the way they refuse to give us our money anytime we asked for it. All of them will start listing what and they have done for us.. well, I am sure my wife will do so for my kids, too, lol.

Well, now that you are a mum too, I guess you will be telling your female daughter the Eba and Fufu story just in case they don't like the meal. This lie is hilarious though, but innocent us will believe everything when younger

!lol eating Eba and Fufu so your mom could get pregnant, she got you real good.

Mine, I was told that eating pounded yam instead of eba will made me get too fat. I believed 🤭 and I stopped eating pounded yam.
