Hello hivers hivians, both feel right, hope am correct.

Being part of the newbies initiative has been wonderful. For our second tutorial we learn about hive, the do's and don't of hive, plagiarism, use of general tags, tribe tokens and use of tags, and markdown. I have always been seeing people's posts and I love how it was structed, I didn't even know it was called markdown. The tutorial on markdown was so explanatory and easy to apply, and I now know how to apply markdown to my post. For this post, I will be writing about my second task for the #newbies-initiative

How has been your experience with Hive since you joined?

Hive platform has been exciting, educative and challenging for me.

EXCITING:

When I joined hive I was overwhelmed by everything on the platform and I felt as though hive wasn't for me, I didn't even make my introductory post until about a month later, however, when I made my intro post I realise hive is a community and its people welcomes everyone. They don't leave you hanging, what I mean is that hivers are supportive people. They give you pointers as a newbie about what to do and what not to do on the blockchain. Also, there are lots of communities on hive such that there will always be a place for you to fit in on the blockchain

EDUCATIVE:

what I enjoy most on hive is reading a quality post. I have learnt a lot from the post I read here on hive. Hive teaches you to be a better thinker and writer, there are lots of contest on hives, and some contest challenges you to broaden your imagination and think creatively. Lastly, hive has taught me how to engage with people's posts and quality engagement. Hive has opened my eyes to the joy of commenting on other people's posts, now I would say I love making comments

CHALLENGING: image source

For a newbie the overwhelming of the platform can lead to frustration. I was lost on what to do, sometimes, I might decide to enter a contest but then I wouldn't know what to write or phrase my thoughts. At times I wouldn't even know which community to go to, really, there are lots of them and I would want to be in all at the same time leading to me draining myself mentally. And there are times when I make a post and it gets little exposure, I end up feeling frustrated

Why is Plagiarism Frowned Upon on Hive

Plagiarism is taking someone else's work as yours. When you claim credit for what you didn't write, images not owned by you, then you are guilty of plagiarism. Plagiarism simply means stealing, theft, and any other synonyms for stealing. In the world, thieves are regarded as people who have broken the law, and when found guilty are sent to prison. Hive is a community of people who reward original content, but by plagiarising, the content is no longer original and any reward on this post would be seen as stealing because the original owner of the content is not you. This kind of post leads you to get downvoted as punishment for your offence

Explain why the use of tags is important on hive

Tags give exposure to posts on hive, it helps your post reach a wider range of people. When you use the wrong tags you miss your post being seen by relevant people and curators. For instance, if you write a post on sports then use #foodieshive on your post, instead of #sports, is a wrong tag. Curators looking to curate sports content will miss your post since the tag used is wrong, even people in that foodieshive community will pay little or no attention to your post because they are looking for food content. So using the right tags for the right post gives your content visibility. However it should be noted, that the requirements for each tribe tag might be changed by the community so each tribe should be checked before usage

List some general tags you know on Hive. Explain the differences between these tags.

Some general tags I know on hive include:

  • neoxian
  • proofofbrain
  • palnet
  • vyb
  • creativecoin
  • archon
  • hive/hive-engine

differences between these tags.

tagDifferences
#neoxianNeoxian is a general purpose tag used for quality posts but not suitable for work post
#proofofbrainProofofbrain is a general tag used for all posts and the requirement is to have a brain since we write our content using our brain (imagination, creativity and others). This tag is suitable for all posts including work posts
#vyb #palnet #creativecoinVyb, palnet and creativecoin are general tags with no requirements. So they are safe to use for general tags
#archonArchon is also a general tag but mostly use for photos
#hive #hive-enginehive and hive-engine is a general tag used since we are posting to the hive, it helps our post appear on the blockchain

Appreciation

A big thank you to @newbies-hive, @hive-learners and to the newbies-intiative teams @starstrings01, @somastically @theycallmedan and the @aliento for this initiative that awards us the opportunity to learn. Shout out to the queen of engagement herself @hopestylist my amiable team lead for all your support and advice. I also appreciate all my team mates, you guys are the best.

Wow! This is good!

Talking about frustration, I think every newbie has experienced that. Sometimes it turns to a big battle to identify the community to post what you've written and sometimes also, low earning comes in with its frustration

Thank you @kingsleyy

All this thing you mention is frustrating to us newbies, what we can do is just take our time to understand each community and also understand ourselves, getting to know what we want to write. And instead of wanting our post to be perfect, we should focus on getting our thoughts out, I think that will be helpful and with we will become better.

Thank you for stopping by

This is beautiful, I see you have really learned a lot from the markdown tutorial, nice work dear.

You have had really great experience so far, indeed there are times when you feel frustrated but then you just have to keep moving because there are people all around you, hehe.

You have done really well explaining in details about the use of tags, I just learned that the neoxian tag is not advised for work post, is that right? I'm thinking that the neoxian tags are for any quality blog only.

Thank you so much for doing so much research to give us these knowledge, I hope others get to read this and learn.

I was always so fascinated by markdown and once I got this opportunity to learn about it, I know I need to do my practical.

True, instead of focusing on the frustration, I direct my focus to interact with others. This has been helpful.

Yes it is. I went to check to neoxian community to check their page and it was stated there that it is not suitable for work posts.

Thank you TL for your lovely comment, makes my day brighter.

I think you've learnt your markdown really well. Plus, one of the best ways to learn is to seek the knowledge. The tag aspect is always issues for newbies and sometimes they run into problems with hivewatchers and other community leaders. Keep on growing.

This excellent! In just a matter of time, you'd be a pro hiver and we'd be looking up to you.

Many newbies make mistakes ignorantly. They simple just do not know the unwrittend rules; the do's and don'ts here. It's a good thing this initiative exists. It'll many more to come.

Again, well done.
