More stalking mushrooms!

Saturday, 26th of August 2023 [84]

Hello fungi lovers from near and far!

Today I have a few captures of some lawn mushrooms I found when I was away camping at my salsa friends yearly Regatta party on the #FungiFriday 28th of July.

The draft has been here since Friday 11th of August, but only today those cuties will finally see the daylight of Hive.

I swear, those fungi hear my thoughts and moans and show up for me everywhere I go!

When we arrived at the camp site there weren’t so many tents around yet. Our green tent above was up in no time with the help of couple friends who already pitched theirs.

We arrived in early evening and the sun was soon about to set, making the whole scenery beautiful and peaceful.

It wasn’t too dark for me to spot those familiar heads in the grass though! In fact, it would be hard to miss them, as there were so many of them, creating paths, lines and circles, reflecting a healthy micealiar network underneath the lawn.

I remember writing about first lawn mushrooms that decided to come to me or rather to my lawn this year. Seeing the new batch of them most likely promted me to write that weekend.

As well as being away from home.

I’m not sure what it is about being away and writing. I recon it is the opposite for most people. They have a healthy writing routine which often gets disturbed while they’re away on holidays.

I tend to pick up my phone and write more as soon as I’m away from home and my routine. I guess my creative juices increase with the sense of adventure that is mostly non existent at home. Just like today, while I’m sipping my afternoon coffee in Crystal’s garden.

And as I do, I actually spotted more of those lawn mushrooms here too! I managed to capture them with Bonnie in the background 😁

Also little one that got disturbed by the dogs and now laying upside down, showing its cute gills groudly to the world.

Back to those camping mushrooms from a month ago! Of course, I was over the moon seeing this unexpected surprise. I would be even more happy to find edibles like morels or parasol mushrooms, which also can be found in lawns, but seeing any mushrooms after a long dry spell where I found nothing to write about was extatic.

Right after pitching our tent I picked up my phone and started taking pictures of them.

My friend Steve saw me and shouted to me from his tent to ask what I was doing.

‘I’m taking pictures of mushrooms Steve!’ - I shouted back.

‘Oh, mushrooms! That’s ok then, I thought you were taking pictures of poo 😂😂😂!’

Steve is a joker. He always makes me laugh.

His jokes my not always be tasty, but he’s funny nonetheless 😉

In between those white/cream coloured mushrooms, I also found one with brown head. I’m not entirely sure whether this one was of different species or just a bit older than the rest of them, but it was a nice change to see.

Then more of the creamy ones in nice big groups all together. A fairy circle like @ewkaw likes to call them.

It was tricky to capture them in their full glory, as their heads were surrounded by grass of course. I did get on my knees and move around that grass to capture at least a few of them like this.

Mainly just groups of them I was trying to photograph to show just as many of them found their home in this huge peace of land surrounding my friend’s parents house.

Just one more up close and I’m ready to wrap this up. While I’m enjoying my weekend away at Crystal’s, I’m hoping to take a walk to a little forest near her house.

Seeing how much rain we had in the last 2 months of the British ‘summer’ I hope I can find some specimens here for the next #FungiFriday 😁

Until next time 💙

So many of them!

I am one of those that don't even think of writing when away or on holls :D

Yeah, I couldn’t stop taking more pictures, although I don’t think they shown what I saw.

Just me being weird then 😂 I need a better routine back at home!
