A oxlip can be seen here and scientifically it is called Primula elatior. In Germanic mythology, the plant was already known and is associated with the elves and mermaids who are said to have protected it. Furthermore, the oxlip is associated with the goddess Freya and there is a myth that those who have a oxlip flower get admission to her area.

The ancient Celts also appreciated it and a potion of it was prepared on special occasions, which had an intoxicating effect. It is also known in symbolism and it was associated with the mystical and the mysterious. It was also believed that it is possible to open treasure chambers with this plant and it also symbolizes happiness and prosperity.

Already in the Middle Ages, Primula elatior was considered a medicinal plant, which was highly appreciated for many properties. The flowers as well as the roots were used against various diseases and the main areas of application include bronchitis or colds and the medical effect goes back to the anti-inflammatory and expectorant active ingredients of the plant. As with any medicine, you should always ask your doctor about the correct application and side effects!

The yellow and white contrast is making the flower more beautiful and black and white interpetition is also amazing.
