It's a project that combines recycling and the life of new creatures, so I'm very happy to share with you how I made this homemade incubator.

Es un proyecto que combina el reciclaje y la vida de nuevas criaturas asi que estoy muy feliz de poder compartir con ustedes como fabriqué esta incubadora casera.

Materials - Materiales

• Cardboard box

• Expanded polystyrene or foam sheets

• Scissors

• Knife

• Chicken wire

• 4 wooden boards

• Small oven grill

• A socket and a light bulb

• Cable and plug

• Humidifier

• Thermostat

• Trays with water

Step by Step - Paso a Paso

The first thing I did was adjust the size of the cardboard boxes and make a lid for the box.

Lo primero que hice fue ajustar el tamaño de las cajas de cartón y hacer una tapa para la caja.

Then we must take 4 pieces of wood and make a rectangle with the boards, and then we must staple the mesh onto the frame of the board.

Luego debemos tomar 4 maderas y hacer un rectángulo con las tablas y luego debemos grapar la malla sobre el marco de la tabla.

Next, we need to make a door in the front of the box and cut an opening in it. We also glue the glass to the front of the box.

Luego debemos hacer una puerta en la zona delantera de la caja y hacemos una abertura en esta. Además pegamos el vidrio en la zona delantera de la caja.

Then we must make an opening in the polystyrene sheets to reinforce the box and its walls.

Luego debemos hacer una abertura sobre las láminas de poliestireno para reforzar la caja y las paredes de esta.

This is how the cardboard box covered with polystyrene should look.

De esta manera debe quedar la caja de cartón cubierta de poliestireno.

Then we must adjust the socket and the bulb to the walls of the incubator and the thermostat.

Luego debemos ajustar el sócate y el bombillo a las paredes de la incubadora y al termostato.

The yellow and black wires are attached to the light bulb, and the black and yellow wires are connected to the power outlet.

Los cables amarillo y negro van ajustados a la bombilla y la salida de los cables negros y amarillo van a la salida de la corriente.

On the other hand, the thermostat sensor must be inserted through one of the holes in the wall of the box.

Por otra parte el sensor del termostato se debe introducir por algunos de los orificios de la pared de la caja.

I took the fan from an old computer power supply and used a USB connection from a charger to make it work so that it could distribute the heat evenly in the incubator.

El ventilador lo tomé de una fuente de poder de una vieja computadora, utilicé una conexión USB de un cargador y asi pude hacerlo funcionar para que este pueda distribuir el calor de forma uniforme en la incubadora.

I have also placed the humidity controller from the lid to the box.

Tambien he colocado el controlador de humedad desde la tapa hacia la caja.

We must open airflow channels in the parallel walls.

Debemos abrir canales de corriente de aire en la paredes paralelas.

Here you can see each of the sensors for both the thermostat and the humidifier.

Aqui pueden ver cada uno de los sensores tanto del termostato como del humificador.

Then I proceeded to mark the eggs, placing an X on one side and an O on the other. This was so that I could turn the eggs over or rotate them and have a reference point when carrying out this process.

Luego procedí a marcar la cara de los huevos, de un lado coloqué una X y del otro lado una O. Esto con el propósito de voltear los huevos o rotarlos y tener una referencia al momento de hacer este proceso.

Here you can see the incubation system. I control the humidity using water trays under the eggs and sponges to maintain humidity in the box.

Aqui pueden observar el sistema de incubación. La humedad la controlo partiendo de bandejas de agua debajo de los huevos y esponjas para mantener la humedad en la caja.
