AseanHive Challenge#78 | Theme: Black and White Photography | Flashback
Hello, #HiveWorld, and good day to this fantastic community of #AseanHive. I hope that everyone is in the pink of health.
I am a baby boomer, which means that I was born during the age of black-and-white photography and some of these snapshots are originally taken in black and white.😊 Here let me tell you some anecdotes about each photo... 🤗
Memories from my childhood are kept in a photo album that I cherish. My mom told me that I was just two years old in this photo. Look at my impish chuckle.🤩 They said that at a young age, they could envision what would I become when grew up. 🤭 "Those who knew me well here can tell what kind of person I am." 🤗
I got these while sorting through old photos! This was me when I was five years old. My mother and aunt told me that I was the town's favourite flower girl. I am always the apple of the eye for those couples who are about to say their "I DOs" and sometimes a Cape Bearer of Queens during Town Fiesta.
The golden thread that runs through my existence and foundation is made up of the best of my memories from as far back as I can recall.
My father would bring me to the church for wedding rehearsals after work one week before the wedding. Sometimes it's late at night after practice, and I'm exhausted (what do you expect from a three-year-old?). They'd offer me munchies to get me through the rehearsal.
Mom would tell me a day before the wedding to gather flowers from her garden and fill my decorative basket with assorted petals from the flowers. I adore gathering flowers and playing to shower by flinging them in the air.
On the wedding day, my mom wakes me up at four in the morning so I can eat breakfast, she brings me to the shower, and my Aunt does my hair and applies my makeup after taking a bath.
My father would take me to the church at five o'clock in the morning because the wedding ceremony begins at six o'clock, and then to the reception. It would be tiring for a child at my age. But not me! Because I have friends nearby, I had a great time. While my father chats with the newlyweds, I am with my friends playing "taguan"(hide and seek) a Filipino game. My father would look for me after the reception, and he would find me with my body drenched in sweat and my clothes caked in dust. He would carry me home, wipe my entire body, and change my clothing because Mom would be furious seeing me in my condition. That was back in the day.
My brothers were the greatest blessing God could have bestowed upon me, and as the eldest, I bore equal responsibility for them. (I was 6 years old when this shot was taken; my father had left home to work overseas, and every time he returned, he would take some photographs of my brothers and me). A little speck of moment that etches itself into the happy memories.
This shot was taken in front of the church altar after the "SALUBONG Reenactment" when I was in first grade. I was a member of the angel choir at the "Salubong" (Tagalog for "meeting"), a traditional Filipino devotion that reenacts the risen Christ's encounter with his mother.
Here are the bonus FILTERED Classic Black-and-White snapshots using my Redmi 9A.😊
This was a time in my life I will never forget and the people I shared it with - my University days. It is love that breaks down emotional brick walls and makes everything possible. When this photograph was shot, I was 19 years old. Can you tell where I'm sitting?
Yours truly, a silver-slate lady. Ageing is a blessing, and we must recognise it as such, because not everyone lives in such good health and for so long to become wise elders.
These are the original snapshots:
The unforgettable recollections arrive like divine déjà vu, lingering in my synapses. These photos are simply channels for my fondest recollections, the ones that are quite remarkable enough.
Thank you @justinparke for this incredible contest.
Thank you for fetching around and checking out the post. Catch you on my next blog.
Namaste,
@diosarich 💞
This is not just pictures but memories. I would love to see those black and white photos on their colored version as those moments are really worth remembering.🙂
Those baby snapshots are authentic black-and-white as I was born in the era when coloured pictures weren't yet a frenzied fashion 🤩.
there are technologies today that could colorized it actually, I dunno the exact method or is it available locally. Imagine seeing a mini version of you.

Hahaha. You were captivated with my impish giggle 🤭. I will search for that technology. Honestly, I didn't know about it. 🤗

Thanks so much, @asean.hive. I am so honoured to be a member of this incredible community.
All the black-and-white pictures I have seen belong to my parents. Which is still kept safe in my drawer. How time changes, and I must say that you have been so beautiful since you were small until now. 🤗

Oh, thank you so much, @mell79. You lift my spirit with your kind remarks 😊. I would say that old photographs in black and white are more manageable to keep than those in coloured snapshots.
I enjoyed reading this post Sis you were really cute in your prime years. On the black and white with your classmates I think you're seated on the fourth counting from the right...correct me if am wrong.
Your guess is right, the lady with a crawling mane. 🤩 How did you recognize me? Those ladies are my friends. Kulang pa yan. There are fourteen in my circle of friends eleven ladies and three gentlemen🤗.
Well, I must say the real deal black and white photos are superior. You're a wee bit older than me, I grew up just when color Polaroid cameras were available but very expensive. A camera and the film were such expensive items to own back then that taking a photo was a pretty serious thing, and of course the long wait to pick the photos up from the developer and find out if you took any good pictures at all 🤣🤣🤣.
Is that your mother on the right in second photo? The woman sure looks a lot like you.
Oh really? I remember that Polaroid cam. My Dad had it too. He used it when taking pictures of their experiments.
Ah, no she's my Aunt. The Town Fiesta Queen 🤗
Beautiful photos sis! Mas matapang ata gamot non kasi di nag fade ang bnw photos at Meron na rin tayong backup photos via mobiles.
Thanks, Sis. Ang ganda talaga ng BNW pics nuon. Kahit albumdi dumidikit sa pic kaya napepreserve ang pics. Imagine 6decades n yan.
