Some Cake for Three Tune Tuesday

Today is music Tuesday, and time to make my post for the Three Tune Tuesday, @ablaze's initiative. If you don't know what I'm talking about, take a look at his post with today's recommendations. Earlier, I was thinking about what to recommend while I had a cup of coffee and ate a piece of the cake leftovers from the Mother's Day celebration. And then I read a comment from @tengolotodo telling me that he was cakeless today. So I thought, I can't send him a piece of the cake I was eating, but I can still give him some Cake.

So my recommendations today will be from the Californian alternative rock band that emerged in the early 90s called Cake. They combined several rhythms.

And they didn't become known to me until the Frank Sinatra song performed by them appeared in one of the episodes of The Sopranos. My husband, who was my boyfriend at the time, bought the Fashion Nugget album, and Cake was often played on our road trips.

So let's go to have some Cake and this is my choice of three tunes for this Tuesday.

Tune No.1 - Frank Sinatra - Cake

The first song chosen could be none other than Frank Sinatra, released in Cake's Fashion Nugget album. The song is played in the last scene of The Sopranos' episode, "The Legend of Tennessee Moltisanti".

We know of an ancient radiation
That haunts dismembered constellations
A faintly glimmering radio station
While Frank Sinatra sings Stormy Weather
The flies and spiders get along together
Cobwebs fall on an old skipping record

Thanks to this, Cake came into my life because my husband was an absolute fan of The Sopranos. And the song was perfect for the closing of that episode of the series.

Tune No.2 - Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps - Cake

The following song is a cover. And it is one of my favorite of Cake's performances. A cover of the well-known song "Quizás, quizás, quizás" by a Cuban composer called Osvaldo Farrés, which became a hit in 1947 thanks to singer Bobby Capó.

The English version of the song is Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps. This piece has had lots of covers and many artists have performed it, and I love Cake's version.

Tune No.3 - I will survive - Cake

The third song I have chosen is also a cover. From Gloria Gaynor's 70s hit, I will survive.
