NEWBIES INITIATIVE TASK 5 || TRIBE TOKENS AND THE USE OF TAGS

It's better Late than never!

I was feeling adamant to join this Task after missing the deadline but then I saw @starstrings01 reply above to someone and it really triggered me to join in.

I'm glad to be alive to witness the task 5 of the newbies initiative and it's really been a smooth ride thanks to the help of everyone on the @hive-learners @newbies-hive team, @theycallmedan and @aliento, even @appreciator has been really supportive too.

I had no idea @samostically had such a beautiful smile until I watched this tutorial video. I must thank you so much for the work you put in, it's really inspiring to see how much you've grown and you're doing the best to push us with you. I enjoyed the tutorial and it was simplified enough to understand.

I'll be answering questions to the asked in the tutorial post here below

Why do communities create tokens on Hive?

Well, I was surprised when I visited my friend in Canada and found out that they were using another currency different from the one I had in my country, it really got me thinking, why would they do something like that?

Identity

Just like normal fiat currency, every Community wants to be easily identify. When you hear about the Dollar, first thing that comes to your mind is damn, it's got to be the Us Dollar and it's worth a lot. Same thing goes for Community tokens, it gives the community members that unique identity. When I go to someone's wallet and I see a lot of $Leo tokens, I immediately know that this dude is a proud cub and that's something. Same goes for the $Dreem token, it's easy to just identity with a community member.

Reward

I remember when i first joined Hive, I was immediately drawn to the POB community and I spent the last few months trying to stack up as many Pob as I could because to me, that was worth having and since I was constantly being part of the #pob-wotw, I got rewarded more pob tokens and it made me happy.

Communities create tokens to reward their members. It like you're being appreciated for always adding value to that Community and doing your best to always move the community forward. Look at what @khaleelkazi did with the Leo engagement, he rewards those with more engagement than him $Leo tokens to give them that drive to do more and it's lovely.

Exchange

Most of this tokens actually help keep the liquify flowing. As a means of exchange, this tokens can be exchanged to get Hive in the long run. So even if you're not getting so much Hive and your community is gifting you that many tokens it's quite advantageous because they can be exchanged for Hive, so it's a win win.

Explain why the use of tags is very important on Hive.

Whenever I go to a new place I like to stand out. It gives me a better sense of belonging when people actually notice that you're unique in a certain kind of way. It could be with the way I dress or my hairdo or something, they immediately know that this guy is a dancer.

Hive is a very large place and it's easy for your post to get swallowed up in the pool of posts on a daily. Adding tags to your posts give you that visibility. It sets your post our from the others, quite easily. If you're writing about food in your post, using a food related tag sets it aside for food and people can find you easily.

It also helps curators do their jobs. I remember when I was trying to understand some NFT related terms, I just searched the tag #Nft and it took me to posts related to NFTs. Using tags help curators find your post easily so they can upvote it.

Tags are unique and you wouldn't want to be using a tag that is in no way related to what your post is about. Imagine being taken to a market where they sell shoes when you want to buy foodstuffs. It'll be of no real use to use.

Know that your first 5 tags are unique, it helps hive index your post to those communities. That is your post would reflex in those communities without even posting in the community, that's why it's advisable to always use the right tags.

The other tags allow you earn tokens related to the tags. They're some tags that can be generally used but some has to be related to what you're actually posting about

List some general tags you know on Hive. Explain the difference between these tags

Neoxian

This tag is actually a general tag and can be used for any type of post as long as it's quality content and free from plagerism.

Proofofbrain

This tag too doesn't have a limit. It's one of the most widely used tags on Hive. You can use this tag so long as you have a brain.

Vyb

The verify your brain tag can be used exactly like the pov tag.

Leofinance

This tag is not a general tag, I just added it for clarity. It is a unique tag can only be used on any post so far it is finance related or related to the community. You can't go and use a #leofinance tag on a comedy post

Hive

This tag is one that can be used on any type of posts.

They're a lot of other general tags that can be used like the #dreemport #palnet #writing and so on. You can also use tags in line with what you're posting about.

What are the various ways you can earn tribe tokens on hive?

Posting and Engaging

Any time you post on Hive, you get rewarded through upvotes and the unique thing about this upvotes is that they come with tribe tokens. Yeah sounds a lot like magic but this is how it works, whenever you stake Hive and any other tribe tokens, the moment you give a percentage of your vote that person automatically ends hive and some percentage of those tokens used in the tags. Using the interphase of a community can automatically earn you community tokens i.e posting via neoxian.city or leofinance.io grants you Neoxag and $Leo tokens.

When you engage on other authors posts in a community, you have a chance to get upvoted and you can earn the community tokens through payouts.

Contests

Joining contests is a great way to gain community tokens. Most contests have rewards and most times these rewards are their tribe tokens.

Delegation

Delegating Hp to a certain Community can earn you their tribe tokens. For example sending delegations to @neoxiancity or @leo.voter will make you earn Neoxag and $Leo tokens on a daily.

Curation

You can also earn from voting on other people's post. When you curate on a post with your staked tribe tokens, you get back those tokens through payouts.

Tags

Tags are another great way to earn tribe tokens. When you use tags relating to a tribe token you earn the right to earn such token.

Gifts

You can earn tokens through gifts, some of the unique ones are the !Luv !Pizza and so on.

It's no longer in use again...used to be for a writing contest we used to have in the pob Community..now it's ended... they're thinking of rebranding it into something else within the Dreemport server

hi @fernandoylet 🙂

As Chinco said, the tag #pob-wotw is no longer going to be used. The writing contest for which it was used, known as Word of the Week, will be continuing but will not be restricted to the POB community (more recently it was no longer restricted in any event)... and it will be hosted by Dreemport going forward.

The members of the previous team that ran the contest have all had to step back due to personal commitments off-chain and so a new grading team has picked up the contest, and we will be launching the next iteration of Word of the Week to be known as Dreem Word of the Week and using the tag #dreem-wotw, hopefully in the next few weeks. You can see the recent article I wrote and the community response here: Finding Sanctuary - An important WOTW message...

If you're interested in taking part or finding out more about the Dreemport project itself, which allows you to get more eyes on your content, take a read and feel free to drop into the Dreemport discord server to ask any questions or tag me here 🙂

You have made a great move as per the better late than never. Infact, you motivated me to get down to write mine too even though the deadline is far gone.
You did well in explaining some of the tags precisely and it earned you some dough.😜😁

Hencefort, I am walking in thy footsteps.
